[edit]

Lead

The article starts with a good summary of the enzyme and then followed by the types and other related details. However, the last paragraph of the lead section feels a bit detailed instead of giving general information and it might be more suitable for the next section`s sub-heading “PQQ-dependent MDH”. It would be great to introduce the abbreviation, MDH, for methanol dehydrogenase in the beginning with parenthesis since MDH has been used many times in the article.

Structure

The structure of the article seems well-constructed and has a nice flow with a clear design.

Balance

The article is generally well-balanced except for the “PQQ-Dependent MDH” subheading where the details about the genes encoding for the enzyme and cofactors` efficiencies were heavily discussed. It could be better if this information is removed or moved to another heading or if these topics are covered also for other subheadings in the Classes of Methanol Dehydrogenases.

Neutrality

The article is well-written with neutral language.

Scientific Writing

All the facts were correctly referenced. Reference number 1 was heavily used in the whole article (Which I think is not a problem), however majority (4, 5, 6) of the articles were only used to support the PQQ-Dependent MDH subheading. This also makes sense since that paragraph has many facts due to having many details on the genes and cofactors of the enzyme. This issue can be resolved by including additional support for the other parts of the article.

Other details

Texts those note the type of bacteria (gram negative or positive) on the figure is hard to read.

Other than the issues mentioned above, the article is well-constructed, easy to read and informative. OsmanK2109 (talk) 06:33, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
