Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Future changes
- You can see reference previews. This shows a preview of the footnote when you hover over it. This has been a beta feature. It will move out of beta and be enabled by default. There will be an option not to use it. The developers are looking for small or medium-sized wikis to be the first ones. You can let them know if your wiki is interested. [1]
- From November 16 the categories will not be sorted in order for a short time. This is because the developers are upgrading to a new version of the internationalisation library. They will use a script to fix the existing categories. This can take a few hours or a few days depending on how big the wiki is. You can read more. [2][3]

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gannow Green until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Majash2020 (talk) 05:46, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
Reinhold Aman
Hello, Pigsonthewing. I'm a bit confused about this edit of yours. There seems to be longstanding precedent to list editors who were not particularly prolific on Wikipedia but famous in real life—namely, Roger Ebert (Rebert). I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. —Psychonaut (talk) 12:12, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- No such precedent exists. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:13, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- In that case, what do you see as the substantive difference between the two cases? —Psychonaut (talk) 12:16, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- Well for a start, Ebert's edits weren't wholly autobiographical; they constituted more than 139 characters in article space, and they did not introduce citations like
<ref>Information supplied by Reinhold Aman</ref>
. But if you wish to purse this further, start a talk page discussion and see if there is consensus for your addition. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:25, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Klaas' cuckoo song
Hi Andy, I've been looking around on xeno-canto for a nice recording of the characteristic "maiki-maiki" call. There's a fine collection [4], but as far as I can see all but two of these are licensed as BY-NC-SA (the two BY-SA ones are pretty bad). I don't have much experience uploading sound recordings to Commons, but if I understand correctly that's not a usable license for our purposes? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 19:08, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Elmidae You're correct; the "NC" clause precludes their use. You can always contact the uploader and ask them to reconsider. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:11, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
- Worth a try; some of the contributors specifically state that they are open to such requests. I'll put out some feelers. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 19:25, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Listings on category pages are sorted on each wiki for that language using a library. For a brief period on 16 November, changes to categories will not be sorted correctly for most languages. This is because the developers are upgrading to a new version of the library. They will then use a script to fix the existing categories. This will take a few hours or a few days depending on how big the wiki is. You can read more. [5][6]
Changes later this week
- If you merged two pages in a namespace where pages can't redirect this used to break the merge history. This will now be fixed. [7]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 November. It will be on all wikis from 19 November (calendar).
Future changes
- The Community Wishlist Survey is now open for proposals. The survey decides what the Community Tech team will work on. You can post proposals from 16 to 30 November. You can vote on proposals from 8 December to 21 December.

Kukur Tihar
Hello, I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but the user Elizium23 continues to disruptively edit the article Kukur Tihar, having just removed a large tract of cited material from the body of the text. I have reversed it, but I fully expect they will return and continue to edit war. You have also reversed some of their editing. Do you think they should be reported? I would have no idea how to do that.86.56.23.178 (talk) 08:05, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
