Question from Koppleganger (03:51, 14 January 2024)
Hello, I reviewed the template for citing a website. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cite_web
I would like to get your thoughts on a unique case I encountered. A main website has a section header. The section header contains a link to an xlsx (Excel) spreadsheet. I am trying to cite the "main website", as well as the spreadsheet that contains the information.
Main website: https://sos.vermont.gov/elections/election-info-resources/candidates/presidential-candidates/
On the main website, there is a section titled "2024 Presidential Primary Candidate Listing", which has the link to the xlsx (Excel) spreadsheet at this link: https://outside.vermont.gov/dept/sos/Elections%20Division/election%20info%20and%20resources/candidates/presidential%20candidates/2024%20Prez%20Primary%20Qualified%20Candidates.xlsx
What is the proper way to create a web citation for the "main site", along with the link to the xlsx file? --Koppleganger (talk) 03:51, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Below shows how I cited the xlsx file, but it is missing the "main site" and section from the main site. Do you think there is a better way to write the citation?

Question from WendlingCrusader (01:54, 17 January 2024)
Hello I haven't got a question right now, but it is a great relief to me to find out that my contributions will be checked by a MENTOR. In simple terms I am lacking confidence, which is somewhat crazy because I have rather too many decades behind me. So, will I be hearing from somebody following any edits I attempt, or will simple editing just be quietly adopted without further comment, unless my efforts are so awful that they get thrown out? I guess it depends on how much 'traffic' there is around, and whether the average mentor has time enough to do much more than briefly glance at my contributions along with those from hundreds of others. Here goes.... --WendlingCrusader (talk) 01:54, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Doug Weller (15:18, 18 January 2024)
I see you are my temporary mentor! Any advice? :} --Doug Weller talk 15:18, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- It's a weird system that gives experienced editors mentors. I imagine you have one also. Doug Weller talk 15:20, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Question from Ailiwiki (10:15, 19 January 2024)
hi "Chemist", I am a Southeast Asianist (translator and ethnologue), and there are many entries on WIKI on Asia that are not correct, especially concerning "my" countries, and langauges... Vietnam, Laos, Thailand. Normally, I am good at editing, anyhow here on WIKI I did not do it often... I just was aked by an official of the writing of a word in Latin letters, and it was given wringly here on WIKI... my subject is more the social sciences, and linguistics. Kind regards, Oliver (I am from Germany) --Ailiwiki (talk) 10:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
