Welcome

[edit]

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Northern Territory Police Flag.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Northern Territory Police Flag.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC), also BetacommandBot (talk) 15:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi :)

[edit]

Hi, have seen your work around the place on my watchlist, and am quite impressed!

The Original Barnstar
For dedicated work on one of our more neglected areas, the Northern Territory. Orderinchaos 07:29, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Hope you don't mind, but I cleaned up your talk page a bit as the bots had gone to town on it. All the image listings are still there, but under one heading each. I would suggest archiving them or even just deleting them if you don't wish to have the images restored - alternatively, if you want any of them restored, let me know as I am an admin and can bring them back and put a suitable rationale on them. Also feel free to look at Wikiproject Northern Territory and those of any other states. Orderinchaos 07:29, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, I was beaten to awarding this Barnstar. I had been sitting on it for a few weeks as you were progressing through the red inlks on {{City of Darwin suburbs}}. I would also like to say "well done" for your work on Darwin and creating high-quality stubs on Darwin suburbs. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 09:17, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ten Sydney opener.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ten Sydney opener.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Speedy deletion of Lisa Andrews

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lisa Andrews requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. January 2008

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Lisa Andrews. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. And using a sockpuppet to do it only exacerbates the situation. AfD nomination of Lisa Andrews

[edit]

I have nominated Lisa Andrews, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lisa Andrews. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Fair use rationale for Image:Casurana_Logo2.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Casurana_Logo2.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 09:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Vlcsnap-69692.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Vlcsnap-69692.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:48, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Vlcsnap-69692.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on File:Darwin botanical Gardens.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. August 2010

[edit]

Please stop. If you continue to upload media files with inaccurate or misleading copyright information, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you are unsure of the correct copyright template, please refer to the list of image copyright tags or ask at the copyright question page. I see that both on File:Darwin botanical Gardens.jpg and on File:Darwinentertainmentcentre.png you have placed claims that you are the copyright holder of this work, and that you are licensing it under the GNU Free Documentation License and the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license. However, the copyright in the first of these files is held by the Australian Government, and it is licensed under terms which are not compatible with the GFDL and the CC by AS license. It is inconceivable that you have authority from the Australian government to offer this file under different license terms. It seems that the copyright in the second file is probably held by the Darwin Entertainment Centre, and it seems improbable that you are the copyright holder. Furthermore, I see that you have a history of similar copyright problems extending back for almost three years. Continuing in the same way is not acceptable. Orphaned non-free image File:Sports Tonight.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Sports Tonight.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Speedy deletion of Template:NTFL

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:NTFL requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. — This, that, and the other (talk) 07:29, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your upload of File:Alice Springs Municipality.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
