...can I say that, in reading your message, I was actually touched... it's the "me" element in Wikipedia contributions that gets to me most - that is to say, articles written from (for) a certain point of view (whether it be origin or level of knowledge) - whereas most real encyclopaedias make it a rule to assume ignorance in all cases. I'm lucky enough to have lived one half of my life in one (English-speaking) country and the other where I am now (Paris) - my only aim here is to explain what I know, as clearly and factually as possible, in a straightforward way that I would liked to have heard earlier as a foreigner.

I'm not so sure though, I'm afraid, that this case is closed - I'm positively certain you will get the answer you were waiting for. THEPROMENADER 22:30, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa for Paris

[edit]

I'm not sure what to do here. User:Hardouin is totally ignoring any discussions and compromises, and has yet again returned the Economy of Paris to its exact former state with the comment "Aire urbaine in French is better, albeit unnecessarily difficult for non French speaking readers. The PWC study, however, is about self-defined urban areas and not INSEE pôles urbains." - meaning that he places his opinion of "what people understand" - or rather, what he would like them to understand - over fact, and that he thinks his cherrypicked international study paper "more important" than the INSEE itself. Not only that, he has also moved the "Paris urban area" article to "Paris aire urbaine", as well as other changes to other pages and templates. I'm not yet sure about the rest, but the Economy of Paris article once again is not true to its sources - it attributes info/statistics from one area to another. This is pure pigheadded provocation. Time to chill. THEPROMENADER 13:29, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa myself. I'm not sure what's going on here - he seems to be correcting the Economy of Paris "back" to what it was this morning, save the introduction that still must be changed. I'll leave it for now and see what happens. You'll probably be getting a message here soon. THEPROMENADER 13:36, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please have a look at the Economy of Paris talk page again? User:Hardouin is completely ignoring any compromise and the very sources cited in the article - he has partially reverted the article several times to its "metropolitan area" state. Not only does the introduction as it is totally ignore our agreement, but it ignores fact as well: the Paris region's economy is gathered in France's administrative divisions - not commuter areas - and all the article's references show this quite clearly. As it stands, the reader is read to believe that there is an "aire urbaine economy" where none exists - in addition the counter-factual anti-agreement, discussion-ignoring and fact-ignoring (yet insistant) mis-translation of the same term. Cheers. THEPROMENADER 13:06, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks...
Thank you for showing your support for me in my recent RfA. Unfortunately, I was unable to earn the required consensus and did not succeed. I do hope to put in another request in a few months, once I have improved upon the concerns addressed by the rest of the participants. Your expressed trust in me will definitely help me reach that goal. Thank you again, and happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:27, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]

Thanks! After the multiple - ahem - "heated exchanges of views" that are sprawling across my talk page at the moment, nice to see someone's still on speaking terms with meiridescent (talk to me!) 14:34, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Barnstar

[edit]

Thanks for the Barnstar. It feels good to be noticed. None of my Village Pump proposals actually made much progress, but even so...While I'm here, I suppose I should promote Wikipedia:WikiProject Grammar and Wikipedia:WikiProject League of Copyeditors. I've had good experiences with them, and if you don't belong to either of them already, you should look into them. You would be surprised at how many Wikipedians have bad grammar. Editor Review

[edit]

Hi Phoenix 15. You seem like a trustworthy Wikipedian, so I'm wondering if, in your spare time, you can either give me an editor review or find somebody else who can? I have a review prepared and nobody has reviewed me yet. Oddmartian2 13:59, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation case

[edit]

Suggest closing Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-09-06 Linda Hamilton. The use of the image is a pretty clear violation of WP:NFCC, as seems to be agreed at the article talk page, Geno's talk page, and this thread at WP:ANI (permalink in the event of archive before you see this). Videmus Omnia Talk 00:43, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Geno has "resigned" over the image incident and vandalism, so it can be safely assumed that the case can be closed. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 04:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And you should assume I'm assuming good faith. :) BTW I'm delighted to see yet another new face in this area of Wikipedia. Might I ask what brought you into this forgotten by god and people topic? M0RD00R 22:48, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Allow me to rephrase the question. Is your interest in Jan Czyński article IRC related? Maybe there is some history related IRC channel that may be of interest to me. I'd love to join the discussions by people interested in Polish history. M0RD00R 10:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! :)

Smiling is contagious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile
then I realized its worth,
A single smile, and just like mine
could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected -
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!

Thank you so much for the beautiful gift, dear Phoenix! :)
Love,
Phaedriel

As per your request on IRC, here are the instructions on how to install godmode-light into your monobook:

Add this code to your monobook:

document.write('<SCRIPT SRC="http://sam.zoy.org/wikipedia/godmode-light.js"><\/SCRIPT>');

Hope that helps! —[[Animum | talk]] 22:12, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add this line into your monobook and purge the cache (Alt-Shift-R): importScript('User:Lupin/autoedit.js');
Hope that helps! —[[Animum | talk]] 22:41, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page reversion

[edit]

You have reverted my page, Kunichika, to a much earlier state, and have done so without explanation. I notice you have done the same with a great many other pages this morning. Would you please not revert my page without talking to me about it first? Thank you. --Clhowson 14:12, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The other pages were legitiate vandalism reverts. Sorry about that, I made a mistake--Phoenix 15 14:22, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why the Lance Bass double revert?

[edit]

Why did you revert my revert of vandalism to the Lance Bass article? If you have a reason for leaving the nonsense, please state it. Meanwhile, I've reverted again. —Adavidb 19:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's customary not to vote twice in the same RFA. I've struck out your duplicate vote. If you want to include further information, you should edit your existing vote rather than adding a new one. Stifle (talk) 15:49, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
