Evergreen huckleberry
[edit]The article should have the English name, with the Latin as a redirect. First, policy is to use the common name for something unless there is a very good reason not to. Second, the name in the opening paragraph should match the article name. If the name in the lead paragraph is "Evergreen huckleberry" so the article name, and vv. -- Cecropia 16:35, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Good, it's been renamed - Pheonix15 16:43, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Answer to Help Desk Question
[edit]It's fairly simple. Go to a user's page, such as User:Jimbo. On the left hand side where all the navigation button's are there is a section called 'toolbox'. There should be a 'User contributions' link and clicking that brings up a list like this. Any more questions or if it doesn't work, just ask. AndrewJDTALK -- 12:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can use Special:Contributions also.--OsamaK 12:39, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I like the format of your revised DreamHost article, but some of the details aren't quite right. I'm a bit busy right now, but if you have no objection I'll cherry-pick your concept and update the article tomorrow (Monday). -- Scjessey 22:49, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 18:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Internet video problem?
[edit]The video in question shows a man in a motorcycle speeding away from a bank. As he's cruising down the road (not being a threat to civilians or bystanders) an unmarked police vehicle crashes head first into his motorcycle. He flips twice and lands on the ground where then police surround him with batons and he is arrested by the Madrid poliza. Maybe they have a better version on the net? Try here. Glad I can help! =) - User:ECH3LON

Re: Adminship
[edit]No no no, it won't. I know of no successful adminship discussion for a first-time candidate that has been closed under the snowball clause. The clause is there when someone thinks having discussion about a topic is harmful or counter-productive because there are so many single purpose accounts or something. Sometimes people make strange edits during adminship which cause oppose comments near the end. For an example, see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ta bu shi da yu 2, an RFA for a user who was at the time very well-known and very well-respected, but he made a foolish edit to today's featured article (read through the RFA to find out more). Thanks for the thought, but I don't think it would be appropriate for my RFA - I want to wait the full seven days like everyone else. I am excited about receiving the buttons though ... [edit]Thank you very much for the barnstar, I truly appreciate it =) And the answer to your question: YES!! I just got it, which is partially why I was asking those questions. I was quite curious about elite Spartan units. Acceptable 00:08, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Please do not cross-post
[edit]You posted your Biology/Reference Desk proposal twice, once at Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous)/Archive 57#Reference desk (VPM) and once at Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)#Reference desk (VPR). Please refrain from this type of canvassing. If you feel the need to mention a discussion at more than one location, start the discussion in one place and link to it from anywhere else you were going to post it. This will keep the discussion in one place. It will also prevent people from becoming upset or accusing you of forum shopping. In this specific instance, I have posted a reply at WP:VPR and linked to that discussion from WP:VPM. BigNate37(T) 19:21, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]MMM, I remove an uncategorised tag because someone categorised the article but left the uncategorised tag in the article. You add the uncategorised tag back into the article. MMM, let me see categorised = uncategorised. I must have to go back to elementary school and learn my prefixes all over again. Because the way I see it, a categorised article is no longer uncategorised. But since you and the editor who categorised it but left the uncategorised tag on -well I am outvoted two to one. Gosh, I can't believe my teachers lied to me. 172.137.24.204 14:48, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to the League of Copyeditors
[edit]I'm very sorry I haven't had a chance to welcome you earlier, I have been incredibly busy lately. We are glad to have your help. Currently, we have really cut down the backlog of articles in need of copyedit. Therefore, a major goal at this moment is to identify new articles that are in need of work. When you run across them, be sure to tag them for copyediting.
If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to drop me a line. Trusilver 06:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Coaching
[edit]Hi. Admirable. Well, I think it's a little too early for you. My suggestion is that you carry on editing and building your experience. You can speed up the process - do a editor review and... even better... take an article to Featured status. I've written an essay, linked at the top of my talk page, with tips for how to do this. Come back to admin coaching when you've got at least another few hundred quality edits under your belt. Most of all, try to edit in an "adminlike" manner. Good luck. --Dweller 21:29, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Virtual classroom
[edit]Hello Transhumanist,
I saw the virtual classroom and was wondering how I could become a student. I have approx 450 500 edits so far and am familiar with Wikipedia but some extra tips
could help--Pheonix15 15:41, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
So you want a coach, eh. Howabout a handful of them?! There are a few conditions though, and they are that you...
- don't go for your RfA or accept an RfA nomination until I think you are ready. (The coaches at the VC generally conominate their students when the time is right. We've got 3 graduates so far!)
- take the advice provided by your coaches and your fellow students to heart (this will be a group effort).
Please let me know if you agree, and we can get started.
I look forward to your reply.
The Transhumanist 00:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I want to thank you for the barnstar as well as your comments on the Woodrow Wilson talk page. The editor who believes the category should be included added a rather lengthly reply and I replied back and showed him with his own sources that his assertions were indeed misguided. Further input from you would be appreciated. Again thanks.--Southern Texas 04:04, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

About your new sig
[edit]Hi Phoenix, You asked me about your new sig. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but I'm not a rules lawyer. I know that when PMAnderson went for his RFA, many people rejected him because he used a name that hid his true identity. Some (but not me) might state that you are hiding your identity by hiding the 15. Thus, if you are thinking about going up for an RFA in the not too distance future, you might want to consider that. Some people will vote "Oppose" for the silliest reasons---when my RFA was going on, my other contributions to WP came to a stop. I didn't want to say or do something silly that might have triggered an avalanche of opposes.Balloonman 17:13, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikiproject Introductions
[edit]Thanks for the barnstar, and even more thanks for reviving the project. Due to my offline life, I contribute to Wikipedia in bursts, and though I've never given up on the project per se, I just haven't been able to write up all my ideas and promote the project. It's nice to know someone else cares about this, too. I've responded at greater length at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Introductions#Overhaul. —Tox 17:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Coaching - getting started
[edit]Your first assignment is to do the following:
- Place {{VC lessons}} somewhere you can access it easily (on your user page, your talk page, or on one of your user subpages).
- Add a link on the template to your coaching page (see the other links for location/format).
- Click on the redlink you just created, and start your coaching page. Let me know on there what you are most interested in.
- Go to the Virtual Classroom coaching page and add yourself to the sudent list and to the coaching subpage section.
- Remove yourself from the admin coaching requests page.
- Drop me a note to let me know you're done.
I look forward to getting started.

Comments on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Best User Page Contest (2nd nomination)
[edit]Please stop attempting to force your comments to the top of this MfD. It is highly inappropriate for you to act in this manner. You are most certainly welcome to add your comments to the MfD. You are not welcome to attempt to polarize the discussion in one way or another by inserting comments in a non-sequential or non-threaded format. Thank you, --Durin 21:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, It's general practise to put your comments under what your commenting on, even if it's in the middle of a discussion. If thier are other comments on the same thing, it goes underneath those. As I was commenting on the reason for deletion, My comment goes underneath that--Pheonix15 22:36, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- You can comment on the MfD all you want. To place your comments anywhere you like breaks up the discussion and polarizes it. The MfD is a tool to gain consensus. It's not a lobbying platform. --Durin 23:17, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits
[edit]Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 14:42, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Looking to spiff up your username?
[edit]Were you aware that your username is a mispelling of phoenix?
From the above thread, I get the impression that you'd like to improve your name a bit.
You know what would be a really cool username? I just checked, and there is no user by the name of User:Phoenix Rising.
It's all yours if you want it.
