Autobiography

[edit]

Please reserve autobiographical edits for your own user page. Wikipedia articles must focus on encyclopedic topics, and it is strongly suggested that you do not edit (or create) articles about yourself. Thank you, and good luck in your future editing -Harmil 05:33, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've taken down the request for speedy deletion per your claim to notability and converted it to the AfD (Article for Deletion) process. Please feel free to comment on the AfD nomination page (add "* '''commment''' - text of your comment" at the end of the AfD page, which is linked to on Philip Solo. Personally, I have no stake in this. I review dozens of articles, and yours is one of a handful of autobiographical entries I saw last night. It strikes me as not particularly notable by the standards of WP:BIO, and obviously not at all in-line with WP:STYLE, but again, it's nothing personal. You're probably a great guy and would make a fine contributor to Wikipedia in general, but we tend to take the view that people shouldn't use Wikipedia for autobiography. It's too hard to stick to a neutral point of view when doing so. Thanks for taking an interest, and I hope you decide to contribute in other areas as well! -Harmil 12:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You still seem to be taking this personally. Please understand that Wikipedia has a process for dealing with new pages, and many of them are not kept. That's not a personal attack, and it's not a slight against your work with radio or any of the rest of your history. It's just that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a blogging site.
You asked, "who is better able to [... write ...] about me than me?" This seems to indicate that you have not reviewed the policy at WP:AUTO, even though I've tried to point you to it several times. Please, do read it.
You also said, "I work entirely voluntarily without remuneration in fact have donated tens of thousands of pounds to charity radio and raised hundreds of thousands so I do not see why I should not post an informed and relevant biography." The first part of that statement, while comendable, does not actually relate to the last part. Many people have volunteered, and many people have donated money to various causes. Most of them do not have articles on Wikipedia. Again, it's nothing personal, just a policy. -Harmil 16:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The file File:Solosign.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Personal file, no foreseeable encyclopedic use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
