WikiProject Investment

Hey there! I just re-launched the WikiProject Investment.

Feel free to check out the project and ping me if you have any questions.

I'd like to invite you to join the Investment WikiProject. There are a lot of Investment related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help get this project off the ground and a few Investment pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks!

Invitation to Admin confidence survey

Hello,

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

We really appreciate your input!

Please let us know if you wish to opt-out of all massmessage mailings from the Anti-harassment tools team.

Clearing the misunderstanding

Hi,

Season's greeting,

One of the user User:संदेश हिवाळे (English spelling of the name:Sandesh Hiwale)'s User account is blocked here on en:wp. It seems he was mainly blocked for 'constantly adding honorifics', not knowing that he is on encyclopaedia, and being new not aware of the policies, in initial enthusiasm he seems to have got involved in reverts to put those honorifics back. His initials edits were mainly through mobile phone and with initial enthusiasm he did not know importance of talk page messages and either over looked or missed.

Besides during his unblock request, even when he was saying 'sorry' by mistake he seems to have tampered a template placed by another user, and that seems to have angered the user. He has approached me and another local admin on Marathi language wikipedia to inform you of misunderstanding.

He has informed us on our talk page at mr wikipedia that he has understood his mistakes and does not want to repeat them.

Our experince with him on Marathi language wikipedia has been that he is very much a well intentioned user. Even at mr-wikipedia initially he took time to come for discussions on talk pages since he used to edit from mobile phone. But subsequently over a period of time, he started interacting with the local community in constructive manner. And so far all of his communications have been polite enough, and undersigned can vouch for the same.

So even before making any further attempt for unblock request we regret the inconvinience caused before. I am sure in future he can be mentored for constructive edits. Probably what we can do is, for few more months let him write his most of proposed edits on respctive talk pages first and only after if there is no objection on article talk page or after discussing with some mentor let him include those edits in the articles.

His en wp talk page is also marked for Wikipedia:Standard offer It seems his last edits were in april month. We would like to know when again it is appropriatae for him to make an unblock request.

Thanks and warm regards

Shahid Buttar

Why did you delete my article on Shahid Buttar? Were the seventeen sources I provided not enough to establish notability? Benjamin (talk) 06:20, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There was a lack of in depth sources. PhilKnight (talk) 23:15, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Skunk

I noticed as part of the CSD, you restored unsourced and unreliablably sourced information back into the article (really best to avoid doing that). In this case, we had a lot of cleanup done over at Cannabis strains to trim unsourced content, improve sourcing, and take care of the problems we had with strain/variety articles that were not notable. The content you restored had already been removed over at the parent article (in different iterations too), but it looks like someone had transferred it over to the spin off article that was nominated at some point. That's basically why it was CSD'd because none of that content was going to survive either way considering the parent article history. Maybe it's just because it's an oddball case, but is there something I missed in the CSD instructions that would apply to this instance since it was a repeat of the type of content that had been previously cleaned up at the parent article? Is it just something where not having that context would make a CSD not appropriate (and PROD or AfD a better choice)? Kingofaces43 (talk) 00:21, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's a long standing convention that you can't {{fact}} tag an article, delete the content, then nominate it as a {{db-empty}}. The same principle applies here. Under the circumstances your best bet would be an AfD. PhilKnight (talk) 00:28, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Skunk cannabis strain

That other user erroneously deleted a page that was sourced. Can you help me re add the page and are there any grounds for reporting this user for vandalism Bacardi379 (talk) 03:57, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ANI Experiences survey

This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, PhilKnight. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article now exists as a user page, which was what I intended to do in the first place. The deleted page was started by me in error as an article rather than as a user page.--Mitzi.humphrey 20:08, 8 December 2017 (UTC) The draft now exists as User:Mitzi.humphrey/Li Jian (art curator)-- Mitzi.humphrey 20:13, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Nathan Martinez

Hi. Any chance you could unblock the page Nathan Martinez and set it up as a redirect to Natural Born Killers copycat crimes#1990s? You were the admin who deleted it at the time nearly 10 years ago. Thanks. Inexpiable (talk) 22:48, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a while

Hello, it's been about 3-4 years. No person blocked for that long would come up upon being unblocked apologizing to everyone that had to deal with their crap, but I have changed. And I'd start by apologizing to said people that had to deal with said crap.

I was going to post an apology on Ryulong's talk page but unfortunately he had issues of his own which led to being banned (and talk page protected).

I sincerely apologize for being of disruptance and being an immature vandal and harassing Ryulong. I REALLY mean it this time, I provoked drama and fighting and vandalized pages because I didn't get my way.

I don't know what else to say but I'm willing to start over from a different angle and actually contribute to this site. Thank you. ToQ100gou! ToQ100gou! Shupatsu Shinkou! (Unblock needed) (the chitter-chatter) 01:01, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
