To pick up your spirits
A grasshopper walks into a pub and hops up onto an available stool. He's about to order a drink when the bartender notices him, smiles and exclaims, "Hey! We have a drink named after you!"
The grasshopper blushes, and looks wide-eyed at the bartender before replying with a stutter.
You h-have a drink n-named B-b-bobby?
-Yeah, it's an old one, but every time my nephew tells it to me, I get a kick. Maybe you will, too. :) - Arcayne (cast a spell) 14:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello Phaedriel,
Why have you deleted this page ? What does it mean "r3" for you ? Could you restore this page ? Thanks. --Pixeltoo (talk) 17:59, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Phaedriel, I found your name in the list of contributors to Native American subjects and I hoped you could help me with the article on Touch the Clouds which I have helped to expand recently. It is currently a GA nominee and I hope it is good enough to pass. If not, then maybe you know some more information or sources I could use? Jouke Bersma Contributions 11:49, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Your (brief) input requested
Hi Sharon, hope you're doing well. I know you're on extended wikibreak - and I should be LOL - but was hoping you might have a comment or some input on Talk:Native_American_mythology#Name_change.3F. Hello, I have a request.
Hi! I know you're on a break so there's no rush, just whenever you have the time I'd like to request a userpage design from you, (did I mention how attractive you are?) cuz I'm not good at that sort of thing and right now my page is just a collection of userboxes (and how incredibly intelligent you are?). I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a quick and basic design similar to yours or however you think it would look best, (and so amazing!), should be really easy for you. Thank you! ;) -- OlEnglish (talk) 00:17, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Request for page design
Hi, I've been "stealing" your designs for some time now, but I really need help with one. Namely, I'm trying to make an easy to read and friendly template explaining how to write a stub onto the pages of new users. I come across so many people who create articles that could have been imported directly from MS Word, and still others that add the names of people with no articles about them to lists... The template and message are below, but they are butt- ugly (Except for the template- I wonder whose design that was..?) Also, how to prevent the headings in the template from showing up in the TOC...? I'm at a loss...
This is a synopsis of how to write a short article, or stub, using the example of Gord Smith. It is also intended to give a brief introduction to wiki-markup. Occasional footnotes and help boxes are included to aid your understanding. You need not memorize the symbols that are used to format the text, but can copy and paste the text from this message and replace the information with info relevant to your subject (or try the buttons above the editing box). Note that this does not ensure that your page will not be deleted, as your subject must still follow the notability criteria. Should you wish to work on an article without fear of argument or deletion, you may work on it in your user space; a how-to can be found here. For further guidance see the essay "Your first article".

More help on citing books and references:
|
{{cite book |last= |first= |authorlink= |coauthors= |editor= |others= |title= |origdate= |origyear= |origmonth= |url= |format= |accessdate= |accessyear= |accessmonth= |edition= |series= |volume= |date= |year= |month= |publisher= |location= |language= |isbn= |oclc= |doi= |id= |pages= |chapter= |chapterurl= |quote= |ref= }}
|
Note that not all of these spots have to be filled in; only the title, date, publisher, and author are required. Often reference templates look something more like this, when filled out:
Editing | Saved |
---|---|
*{{Cite book | author=Behrendt, Stephen C. | title=The Moment of Explosion: Blake and the illustration of Milton | date=1983 | publisher=University of Nebraska Press | location=Lincoln | isbn=0-8032-1169-4 | pages=}} |
|
To add inline citations, put this template in the body of the text where the footnote should go: |
<ref> (citation here, either in the form of a url, or if a book, use the same template as above with the page specified. You can really use the citebook template for webpages too)</ref>
If you link to a url, you will need to format it by placing a single bracket on either side, making sure that the http:// prefix is included in the address. The easiest way to do this is to cut and paste the address from the browser bar. If you link a url, the address goes first, then after a space, the text to be displayed goes inside the bracket also.
[URL(space)Text displayed]
Then add {{reflist}} under the references heading.
The page now looks like this: |

Sharon's status
Do any Wikipedian's know her personally that can tell us that she is alive and well? I've been struck by the number of people she has influenced and would just like to know that she is okay. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 03:06, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- As far as I know, no-one on Wikipedia, including myself, has heard from her in the past fifteen months. However, she may be doing just fine, and left Wikipedia and/or her email entirely as a result of the harassment she was subject to, which was verging into real life (if I remember correctly). Sceptre (talk) 06:02, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, Sharon was, I believe, threatened with serious disciplinary measures within her workplace unless she withdrew from wikipedia. But I have not heard from her since she did, though I have tried both e-mail and snail-mail. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 17:01, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'd like to think that she is still around...socking it. I didn't know her personally but I have the wishful thinking that she is still around. Perhaps she only needed to separate her identity from editing on the Wiki.

She and I were quite close; I knew that she was in increasing difficulty, not only at work but also as a reult of multiple harassment by a group of associated users, who were making her life here impossible. I advised her to exercise her right to vanish, and hopefully reappear with a new account. I hope and believe that she did this. I also hope and believe that she scans this page from time to time. Sharon, be happy. Love. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 14:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- SHe had definite real life issues that I won't go into. The whole thing is a damn shame; that there are so many sickos out there they get off harassing people like this. — Rlevse • Talk • 16:17, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- I can understand how it might be difficult to go into the details of the issues. I also agree that the idiots who would go around harassing someone who did so much to try to improve the atmosphere around here are, frankly, disgusting. It's a good thing that some of us don't know too many details, like the names of the others involved. All I can do is hope that the situation improves for her, whether she ever returns or not. Her contributions to date have been more than enough to earn the respect and thanks of us all. John Carter (talk) 16:46, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- The good thing about us not knowing the details is that we are less likely to be arrested for various measures that in order to not seem threatening I won't mention. We're very protective of you, Sharon. :) — $PЯINGεrαgђ 20:26 4 August, 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Swargadwari article
Apparently you deleted a new article on the Swargadwari shrine in Nepal that I recently worked on.
What I had done was to re-work several paragraphs about Swargadwari that someone added to an article on Pyuthan district. I felt this material left the Pyuthan article unbalanced. Sort of a "tail wagging the dog" problem. To draw an analogy, it was like an article about New York City that was 3/4 about St. Patrick's Cathedral.
At the same time I felt Swargadwari deserved an article in its own right because people travel for days inside Nepal and from India to go there. It's hard to draw cross-cultural parallels, however I think anyone researching the surrounding district ("county") or contemplating a visit ought to be informed on this, just as anyone visiting the administrative unit in France where Lourdes is located ought to inform themselves about it, whether they elect to visit it or not.
At the same time I felt the original material had a POV problem in that it was written in a very pro-Hindu/pro-Brahmin way, when Nepal actually is a lot more multi-cultural. In fact they recently fought a civil war (1996-2008) over society being over-dominated by the royal family in cahoots with the two highest Hindu castes. Without getting into a discussion of all that, I attempted to tone down the language and make it more neutral.
So after investing thought and time in this article, I was disappointed to see it disappear with no explanation why you apparently took exception to it.

Merry Christmas!!
Once again it is festive season, a time where festive decorations are displayed and gifts are swapped; but what about the true meaning of christmas? The true meaning of christmas is about the fight for freedom and how in times of hardship and misery, one person leads their people to freedom as a great warrior; for those who fight for a cause are warriors and those who fight for a worthy cause are great warriors. Such an act earns respect and honour; but most importantly, brings happiness to their people. So to achieve this as happiness lies in other people's happiness and greatness lies in how you deal with little people, we selflessly think of others in the hope that they will be happy this christmas.
Hi Phaedriel, have a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year 2010!
