Hi

Hi, good that you're still here :) About the book sources. I hope you know that it works both ways and I will have to remove all MC book sources in her articles? The CD certs are all correct (email RIANZ if you don't believe me). Anyway, New Zealand is a small country with 15,000 copies for Platinum. It does not make a difference for total sales. Don't know if you remember but CD, MC and other artists like Madonna have the same book sources for: New Zealand, Australia and Spain. The certs are all correct in the articles, but if you want to remove them all, we can do that. -- Max24 (talk) 08:08, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

@Max24: I'm here ;) I'm not talking about that. I'm referring to all the album sales you reference with Dion biographies etc. There are several albums that use them as refs. I was just letting you know that LOBSMA isn't going to take those certs into consideration. PS. It isn't necessary to write 'Fake' and all these other critical implications. It's obviously copy and paste error (of which, for Butterfly & GH you could have just fixed it yourself, but chose to remove out of spite but whatever). Cheers.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 07:06, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
@Petergriffin9901: You did the same lately many times, you have removed info instead of fixing the source and I had do this. You have also called the "sold over" a fan bias in CD articles where it was used just few times. In the MC articles it was so much more - and you have put it there :) Yes you did few years ago :) But let's put it behind us. I see a good thing in all this - those articles will really be better. Now, I can prove to you that I'm not that bad. When I went through MC albums articles I have noticed that MANY, MANY peak positions and certifications in tables are not sourced correctly or have dead links but I suspected these peaks/certs really happened so I did not remove them. Please try to click on every link in the tables and you will see. This should be fixed (if you have the time). :) -- Max24 (talk) 09:25, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
@Max24: Well fine then, I guess we can just leave it at we both in random orders started doing tit-for-tat at each other :) I would really like to work in peace and not take every one of each others edits personally. I haven't been here for over a year, so 100% there is a ton of fan garbage on her pages. Now moving on, what do you intend to do about the page numbers? They seem legit, and I believe you, but it really would be best if you could add page numbers. It really is proper practice. And yes, I noticed you made a few pro-MC fixes :P As for the 220, please look into it in the coming days. It is different from what is said on er biography, and we really try and implement LOBSMA as often ass possible (I removed 220 Carey references against my personal wishes due to their consensus) so understand that. PS. Quick question. Any idea why Carey's GH is only Platinum even though its a double-disc over 100 minutes in running time? Seems like it should be double-platinum. Anywho. Cheers.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 08:12, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
@Petergriffin9901: As for the last question maybe it is the case that the label or Carey herself did not ask for 2x Platinum certification? Dion has sold 8 million of All the way and it is just the SS number. If we add the BMG Club of 1.1 we have 9.1 million. And she's just 7x Platinum. Dion doesn't care at all at these things and her label also. It is the same with other compilations in the US - The collector's has sold over 900,000 copies (SS alone) and is Gold and Essential Collection has sold over 500,000 copies and is not certified at all. As for other things, I don't specially care about those book sources so maybe I will remove them myself. Passion Celine Dion book was available (scans) on the google books, but I can't find the scans now so I don't remember the pages. However I have Celine Dion for keeps at home so this one I can do. And as it goes for total sales, the only way is for me to finish the certs/sales tables in her articles but it takes time, but I do it every day and will finish it :) In my opinion I will prove that Mariah did not sell more or the same as Celine. I think you know it deep inside :) Mariah most important markets - US and Japan are all known - we have the info. Well, Celine did have good sales there too, but I'm also finding sources for her certifications/sales in other countries. And Mariah in other countries did not sell good (aside from Music Box). So we have to wait. And I think then the changes will be made to the LOBSMA article :) -- Max24 (talk) 10:25, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
@Max24: Lol. You don't have to ping me on my own talk page :P Carey's European sales were always healthy pre-Glitter, most especially strong during Music Box. You will see my friend, her certifications are indeed lower. In terms of record sales (album + singles) you will find out Carey has higher certifications. I guarantee it. I await your conclusive report :) PS. As for the books, it's up to you. Do whatever you can or think is appropriate. Cheers.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 08:53, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Quick question: what was the consensus of using BMG Club sales? I ask because it is used in MC articles. And I don't know if I should remove it or add it to Celine articles? -- Max24 (talk) 14:50, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
@Max24: Hey Max. On which MC articles do you see BMG sales? From what I recall, the source for those BMG sales wasn't really reliable and we never really implemented them. If you see them, by all means, remove them. Cheers.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 20:24, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

@Max24: Hey mate. I was wondering if you gave MIAMTEC a listen and your thoughts? I thinks it's way better than Memoirs and E=MC2. Also, what are your Celine favorites? My favs of her non English catalog are "Lamour Existe Encore" and "Le Blues Du Businessman" :) I've been looking for live versions of "To Love You More"... All lipped except "Juno" and "Rosie" but the key is lower and it sounds flat :/ Any other better ones you know? Also, The best and so far only live and original key of "That's the Way It Is" I've seen is from The Early Show (I think 2002). Great one. PS. Love "Imagine" in (1992). Also hard to find "Because You Loved Me" in original key :/ especially the bridge and the end.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 08:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi :) Oh, I have MIAMTEC. I like individual songs. I like YDKWTO (hate the single cover), I like Meteorite and few others. But I feel that lyrics in some songs are not mature like Mariah was still a little girl not a woman. That's my opinion :) I got all her albums and also like individual songs on Memoirs and E=MC2 but I'm not sure which album is the best out of these three. I have a favorite but it's Butterfly. It was the first Mariah Carey album that I bought. It was 1997 and I loved her since. But few years later I noticed that she's acting strangely when interacting or talking with people, and even when performing. So I like her music but the person - I'm not sure. It's the other way around with Celine. Her music can be sometimes a crap, but she's such a warm, kind and open person. Going back to Mariah music, my favorites are on Butterfly: The Roof, Breakdown, Whenever You Call, but I love this whole album. I also love all her David Morales remixes and her RnB remixes. That's why my second favorite album is The Remixes. But it's missing the RnB remix of I Still Believe unfortunately. I'm also missing the times when Mariah was singing the way she sings Without you. As for Celine, my wish is that she do a sexy video, sexy and cool song and stopped being so polite :) I think that her best album is Falling into You and I hate Miracle - an album with lullabies, Jesus, why she did that? I like when she sings uptempo songs, wish there was more. However, aside from Lady Gaga, my latest obsession is Sia. Did you hera her album? It's so good. I'm listening to it over and over working on those Celine articles which is taking forever :) -- Max24 (talk) 11:04, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
@Max24: Uch Lol. The single covers have been horrible :/ She was skinny and sexy for Idol, then broke her arm and got fat again :( Now it seems she's slimming down again. Shame the whole album got fucked. No promo etc. I like most of the album. The ballads with Wright are my favorite. With MC, her best vocals are 91-93. So my favorite album is Music Box, then probably Butterfly. Thing is (my observation) that from Mariah's like two nose jobs, her voice started getting more nasally and thinner and by 1997, you know how it goes. She had good years vocally from 2001-2005 though, but just mangled and transformed way from her heyday. Since 2008, Mariah's voice has really never been the same, and her stage presence has gotten super weak. She's a shadow of her former self at this point. For me, I love MC as both. I can relate a lot to that insecure child inside who struggles with past issues :) For me, its a shame but it seems she hasn't given a shit about her career for years (at least Celine is a good and convincing lipper ;P). I don't know if you've noticed, but for the last years all her interviews have been rambling/drunk/wacky. I think she's growing more insecure about her vocal condition/etc. I feel like her babies are the only thing stopping her from another Glitter. "Music Box" and "Everything Fades Away" are great songs from her. Only new song I heard from Sia is "Chandelier" and I really like it :) For me, Lady Gaga post-Artpop is crap :S She IMO is murdering her career. My biggest critique about Celine is since she has no involvement in the songwriting etc. it sometimes feels very vapid and un-personal (unless the song is really great. Also, she has a lot of filler sometimes :/) For me, those two and Whitney are my favorite.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 09:55, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Did you see Meteorite at the WMA's? What was going on with her vocals? Some of it sounded dubbed afterwards. And her whistle barely came out :(  — ₳aron 10:04, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

@Calvin999: Was all 100% lipped :/ Mimi standing like a statue, lipping super poorly and just uch :S Even the whistles were lipped guarantee. Really a shame because I enjoy the album a lot. Looking forward to hear the audio from her Asian Tour coming up. Hope she shows she still got some pipes. The last live "WBT" was on GMA last year, and she's had some good performances around Xmas time. That's about it. Wish we had this fierce ass Mimi back :/--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 10:09, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
No it wasn't all lipped. Some parts were live and some parts were dubbed over. You can hear the difference in the mic. She wouldn't intentionally lip sync to whistle notes that bad either! I'm so annoyed this album flopped. It took years to make and then it got no promotion at all. What was the point? It's a shame because You Don't Know What to Do, Thirsty, Cry, Faded, Money, Camouflage are great songs. Something is wrong when Hit-Boy and Mike Will Made It produced songs don't get released. I'm so happy she changed managers because JD fucked it up big time and he knows it. It's a great album that hardly anyone has heard (220k WW) and it's damaging to her career. I think her next album needs to take a serious Adult Contemporary approach and she needs to adapt it to her age, I think people would be receptive to that.  — ₳aron 10:16, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
@Calvin999: Hm. Well, either way, the performance was disappointing to say the least :/ Yup. The album is her best since Mimi. It's a shame she didn't launch it with '"Beautiful" and "Idol". Then she got injured and postponed everything for a year. Killed the whole buzz and got heavy again. I don't think Adukt Contemporary per se, just a complete change of approach/promotion/image/authentic interviews etc. I don't get it from her perspective either. She spent all that effort on the album and then just let's it starve. No promo whatsoever. At least J.Lo promoted that shate of hers Lol. Who knows, I feel like she doesn't really care anymore. We'll see soon, here to hoping there some good news on the way.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 10:22, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
And J Lo's flopped even more badly. Yeah she should have launched it off of Idol. I haven't given up hope on her returning to number one again. She's done it before when everyone had discounted her and put her on the shelf. Beautiful showed that she can still write a platinum selling song. The best thing for her to do would be to release another album next year at the latest, another three or four years for another album would certainly kill her career when she's nearly 50. Wow, when Mariah is nearly 50.  — ₳aron 11:14, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
O_O hard to believe both J.Lo AND Mimi will be close to 50 at that point. Snuggums (talk / edits) 13:06, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Moving

Hi ! I am preparing this Kate Bush song for GA. I have a problem with the Japanese Singles Chart. He let this message in 2008 and claimed that ""Moving" is not a number-one single in Japan", providing a source. So, is this reliable ? Not sure because it indicates that MC's "Honey" and "Heartbreaker" were both number-one in Japan. Πx (discuter) 00:12, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

@Pixelyoshi: I honestly have not much background on those things :/ @Max24: is the man when it comes to this. Let's see what he thinks.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 05:18, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
@Pixelyoshi: :@Petergriffin9901: Hi. I can only say about Oricon chart. I'm sorry, but Kate Bush's singles did not enter the Oricon chart. However, her albums did (info from 2007):
  • [LP] 1978/05/20 The Kick Inside # 37 , 14 weeks, 23,890
  • [LP] 1978/12/20 Lionheart # 30 , 13 weeks, 26,100
  • [LP] 1979/10/05 Kate Bush/On Stage # 58 , 4 weeks, 5,980
  • [LP] 1980/09/21 Never For Ever # 40 , 8 weeks, 17,910
  • [LP] 1982/10/01 The Dreaming # 36 , 7 weeks, 16,850
  • [LP] 1985/09/28 Hounds Of Love # 36 , 11 weeks, 20,350
  • [LP] 1986/12/20 The Whole Story # 53 , 8 weeks, 6,490
  • [CT] 1985/09/28 Hounds Of Love # 63 , 4 weeks, 4,000
  • [CD] 1985/11/21 Hounds Of Love # 35 , 2 weeks, 450
  • [CD] 1986/12/20 The Whole Story # 38 , 10 weeks, 21,890
  • [CD] 1989/10/25 The Sensual World # 18 , 4 weeks, 20,010
  • [CD] 1993/11/01 The Red Shoes # 24 , 3 weeks, 25,510
  • [CD] 2005/11/02 The Kick Inside # 204 , 1 week, 1,106
  • [CD] 2005/11/02 Aerial # 53 , 6 weeks, 13,176
  • [CD] 2005/11/02 Lionheart # 298 , 1 week, 777

The www18.ocn.ne.jp website is not reliable. It is a fansite. It has real information and fake ones. Maybe Kate was #1 on some kind of different chart? Not Oricon? As it goes for Mariah Carey and the singles you mentioned, this is from the Oricon Singles Chart:

  • 1997/08/27 Honey # 39 , 3 weeks , 18,760
  • 1999/09/22 Heartbreaker # 37 , 5 weeks , 24,850
Mariah official source (peaks without sales) is here. -- Max24 (talk) 09:12, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
Hey, sorry to butt in! The Mr. Heartbreaker's link, I think, lists the Oricon International Singles chart (or the Import chart), because as you can se there's no Japanese songs/singles in it. I'm not sure though. Ryoga (talk) 04:46, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Sure thing. Snuggums (talk / edits) 22:21, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the review! It's my first time nominating a Japanese song article, so the quick fail is something I'd expected lol :D Ryoga (talk) 12:47, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

I notice you've made dedicated efforts to Mariah Carey articles, but why did you add "early 1996" as a film date for the One Sweet Day video? It was filmed as Carey and Boyz II Men were recording it in February 1995 for the Daydream album, scheduled for October 1995. Sessions for the song itself took place very shortly after the late January 1995 death of a C&C Music Factory member David Cole and it was released in November 1995 as a single and as a video on music television. Early 1996 was way too late.

For about 3.5 years now, many third-parties have naively by mistake, taken this as fact and a few have ended up debating the authenticity of the recording sessions in the video, mistakenly citing "early 1996" being too long after the actual 1995 recording and release dates, thus Mariah & BIIM were liars. Upon seeing this mistake, I almost jumped to the conclusion it was vandalism, only to see it was a dedicated Mariah contributor. Please exercise caution when editing, so as to avoid anyone being mislead by glaringly incorrect Wikipedia content.——Carmaker1 (talk) 01:39, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Song article: "All I want for Christmas is you"

Hello Nathan- I'm Tom, aka Nuance 4 (my vocal jazz group). I'm a DJ at WMKV-FM 89.3 in Cincy.

Let me tell you of a frustration of mine: When someone writes a book, or a song, it is copyrighted to insure its intellectual property rights to the owner/creator. HOWEVER, under this law, the TITLE of the work is not protected, and someone else can create a completely new work, but legally use an old title. For example, "Band Of Brothers" can refer to several different books written over many decades. This means for someone seeking a specific work, he may have to eliminate several other ambiguous works with the same title.

It is for this reason that last January I added a short paragraph "Ambiguity" to "All I want for Christmas is you". If someone is looking for a cover version of Mariah Carey's song, he might accidentally buy the song Johnny Mandel wrote - since there is a Tony Bennett recording with the same (albeit erroneous) title. You decided this caveat was unnecessary and deleted it October 30. If you think it through, I ask you to reconsider this, since it can save a buyer some grief.

Let me know what you think.

Tom

Not sure if you'll notice this in time for Christmas, but many new sources are coming in since this song's 20th anniversary was last month. Could be looking into for further comprehensiveness. Probably could get updated sales figures as well. Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:51, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
