Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Vernon Jannotta, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Britain. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2017 South Australia Cessna Conquest crash is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2017 South Australia Cessna Conquest crash until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 11:17, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Drafts

Hi. Regarding your IPMA Draft, might I offer a technical suggestion? You are, of course, free to organize your sandbox however works best for you. However, if you keep each of your drafts in a distinct subpage, they'll each have their own history. Should a draft end up getting moved into the main article space, that'll prove useful. It also makes it easier for other people to review, since each draft will have its own references section in the footnotes. -- RoySmith (talk) 12:23, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of UK Space Command

Hello Peter Ellis,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Slatersteven and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, UK Space Command for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, No. 1 Group RAF.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Slatersteven}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Deletion discussion about UK Space Command

Hello, Peter Ellis

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Slatersteven and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, UK Space Command, should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/UK Space Command.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Slatersteven}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Slatersteven (talk) 16:02, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Military units and formations established in 2020 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! If you interested to write about radio personality

Hello, saw your ID on Wikipedia Radio project, if you interested to write about radio personality, I would ask you help with the "Stephen J. McCormick, longtime radio and TV broadcaster, dies at 97".. I has uploaded just an image from Library of Congress (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stephen_J._McCormick,_Mutual_Broadcasting_announcer.jpg), but was a bit in hurry, was I right with compliance of Wikimedia rules? Also, I cannot find the person ID on Wikidata. Will I create new item on Wikidata, or there is somewhere already exist? (I accidentally saw a documentary on YouTube where the personality featured, so decided to check Wikipedia about that, but did not find https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbDSaBtr2mU&t=7m40s). PoetVeches (talk) 20:47, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

I started myself the Wikidata, because looks there was no item (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q102185888). I will write myself the article probably next weeks or month, slowly, step by step. Probably, I will handle oneself the creation of the new article, because my English is more or less good as intermediate :) Have good day! PoetVeches (talk) 21:02, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Celia Perkins requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.defence.gov.au/about/leaders/deputy-secretary-estate-and-infrastructure. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Fram (talk) 08:22, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Reply

Thanks for message. You said you certainly did not give the page on Celia Perkins any chance to mature. If you post an article it will be assessed as it stands. If you don't want that to happen, you should write it as a draft at Draft:Celia Perkins. In fairness, I would have deleted this as a draft as well.

You said I didn't give give any chance for women to assess the page and add to it (as I hear that Wikipedia is trying to redress the male-female bio page balance) The fact that she is a woman doesn't mean that an article about her is exempt from our regulations. You can't just dump stuff in article space and wait for someone else to clean up the mess.

You said for anyone with a photograph of her to substitute that for the official portrait Your image is a clear copyright violation that I imagine will be deleted in due course. You can't invoke fair use for a living person because it's obviously possible for someone to take a free-to-use image. This is clearly violating the Australian governments copyright.

You said there seems to be no right-of-reply or review readily available. Or, have I missed that route in your method of deletion? If issues are resolvable or there is room for discussion, WP:AFD is available. The point of speedy deletion is that not much short of a complete rewrite will do

Please read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • Although she is probably notable, your text was almost entirely unreferenced. Of the two refs you give, one is her official page, likely to be written by or approved by her, so not an independent third-party source, and the other doesn't mention her at all.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews. Although the text isn't terrible, it's her talking about herself, with loaded phrases like contributed to major defence initiatives... key leadership positions. And calling her "Celia" is at the very least unencyclopaedic.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • For legal reasons, we will not host copyright material on Wikipedia, and that's why the editor who nominated this for speedy deletion did so. There is no question of keeping or restoring copyright text in article space or draft space, you must use your own words.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:16, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Also, I should point out that my last two biographical featured articles were both of women, so I'm doing my bit, and within the rules Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:26, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
