By the way, didn't I film you getting arrested in front of the Supreme Court back in 2005? SchuminWeb (Talk) 05:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Gender identity proposal
[edit]In light of the issue we've been having with the article about Midge Potts, would you be willing to help me write a proposal for a guideline regarding gender identity? SchuminWeb (Talk) 20:57, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I am still learning how to properly tag and sign everything here, but sure I could help with a policy regarding gender and pronouns. I think that if someone identifies as a certain gender, and legally changes their name to reflect that change and is indeed public about this change -- then that person should be assigned that particular pronoun. Simply going by what physical equipment they may have in the "private area" is really no one's business and is of a 19th Century mindset. PeteinDC 12:01, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Eve Graveyard.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Eve Graveyard.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:07, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Notability of Chris Otten
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Chris Otten, by Hu (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Chris Otten seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Chris Otten, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 04:42, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Lennox Yearwood and torture
[edit]I put an NPOV marker on the paragraph about the Guantanamo concert because saying "Yearwood has called for an end to the torture at Guantanamo Bay" as fact can be read as implying the existence of torture at Guantanamo Bay as fact. Since there are those who do not believe the US government's activities at Guantanamo Bay to constitute torture, this would be POV. Of course you can read it otherwise, so "Fred called for the intervention of the Invisible Pink Unicorn" doesn't necessarily imply that the speaker believes in the IPU, but I think it's as well to reword it in case people get the wrong idea. I have now done so. The Wednesday Island 00:55, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Hello
I am User:Rkmlai using an IP currently. Thank you for adding: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eve_Tetaz&diff=284372664&oldid=284368376 to the Eve Tetaz article. As she was there, please feel free, and invited, to add her to the articles on UAV attacks in Pakistan, Nevada Desert Experience, John Dear, Louie Vitale, Stephen Kelly, SJ. I would do it, but I didn't find Eve in the Democracy Now! source provided, and I am using a borrowed computer as mine is getting repaired. Peace, 24.7.164.46 (talk) 19:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
The article Pete Perry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- An obviously self created and maintained WP:BLP by an activist with no WP:RS mention. Without reference fluffing this article fails to meet WP:BIO.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TomPointTwo (talk) 00:02, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
I did not create this entry, but I have added to it. C-Span, Democracy Now, Capital News Service, and Metro Weekly I would think are reliable sources. But I am fine with whatever decision is reached by the editors of WikiPedia. PeteinDC (talk) 00:40, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
I trimmed the entry down a bit, and I added a front-page Washington Post story where I was a major subject. PeteinDC (talk) 04:34, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Matthis Chiroux
[edit]Pete, I noticed that in this set of edits you asserted that Chiroux was one of five others present at the arrest, aside from Sheehan. You also assert that Chirous is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Chiroux is not a veteran of either war (he lied about Afghanistan and to the best of my knowledge he never publically claimed Iraq). The citation you provided stated that there were four (not five) other activists present and did not make any mention of Mr. Chiroux (or any others aside from Sheehan) by name. I was wondering if you had another source that you intended to use or were possibly present yourself and were inserting original research? If you have any other sources on the arrests that could clear this up that would be greatly appreciated by me and would be very useful in the article. TomPointTwo (talk) 00:16, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
I will see if I can locate further information. I have heard some of the dispute you reference about Mr. Chiroux's service, but I am not sure I can confirm. PeteinDC (talk) 00:41, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- That would be great, thanks. As for Chiroux's service, it's not really a dispute. He's been throughly outed and his military records published under the Freedom of Information Act. He spent six days on Bagram airbase writing a "go team" story and taking pictures as a Public Affairs soldier for the Army and then left Afghanistan. He never left the base or conducted any operations outside that secure zone. His war crimes stories about killing children, torture and murder are all fraudulent. The purpose of his lying on his speaking tours and other events I can only speculate on so I'll avoid making any assertions about it in this particular forum.TomPointTwo (talk) 01:30, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
