Hello! Regarding the steam era warships, take a look at the bibliography for ironclad warship - most of the sources I used are the same in that article as in my (long neglected) draft article. In particular, I referred to:

  • Steam, Steel and Shellfire: The Steam Warship, 1815–1905. Book Sales. 2001. ISBN 0-7858-1413-2.
  • Brown, DK (2003). Warrior to Dreadnought: Warship Development 1860–1905. Caxton Editions. ISBN 1-84067-529-2.
  • Lambert, Andrew Battleships in Transition: The Creation of the Steam Battlefleet 1815–1860. Conway Maritime Press, London, 1984. ISBN 0-85177-315-X.
  • Sondhaus, Lawrence. Naval Warfare 1815–1914. Routledge, London, 2001. ISBN 0-415-21478-5.

I think those (and their bibliographies) are a good place for anyone to start doing research on this era. You could also ask User:Toddy1 if he's around, I think he has a good knowledge of the period as well. The Land (talk) 18:39, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
