SkyOS Spam

[edit]

WAS NOT spam and WAS NOT a link to my Private page either... it was actually a link I came across that was intersting and HIGHLY related to the development of SkyOS...

Ok, this is the second time I will ask you nicely to change your current flag image that is used in your signature to Image:Flag of Canada.svg. We only need to have one copy of the Canadian flag on Wikipedia. There was a bot who went around and changed all canadian flag images to the one I pointed out to, so we only have to have one Canadian flag image. With you using the "perfecto icon" in your sig, you have added another Canadian flag to the project, which is redundant. I ask you, sir/madam, to take action and change the icon to Image:Flag of Canada.svg. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) Fair use policy 07:16, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Sorry about that. I assure you the link wasn't included for selfish motives. In fact, I have no connection to them, except that I have used and like their free (as in beer) software. I didn't bother to check if it was free software (as in speech). As it turns out, the link existed on that page before my edit...I've reverted my edit, secure in the knowledge that that piece of software is in fact listed.--Joel 01:52, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You stated that the band is unverifiable, yet they maintain a website and have a page on the Spanish Wikipedia. ummm, i wasnt advertising anything i was just putting up a shock site in the shock sites section. thanks for sending me an irrellavent message about something that was in its rightful place. would you have rather me put it in the external links for something that it wasnt even relate to. its people like you who ruin wikipedia for others just wanting to put things in their rightful place. at least im not spamming random websites or just defacing articles.

crif and budterence

[edit]

Two of my entries have been removed as spam. I just wanted to point out two things:

1. I added a product I am currently working on (a Workflow management suite), to a list ALREADY full of commercial products. I am NOT going to put it back on the page. I don't care about my company's marketing :-) I am sorry for this spam, but the list in the article was already (and still is) full of commercial products, so I thought I was not spamming at all.

2. An external link to budterence.tk was removed as spam. Why? That is the biggest source (and my favourite fan site) about Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (italian actors). Why would it fall under Spam? I don't understand.

Filini | Talk to me | 2006-02-07 6.36PM

1. Again, sorry for the spam. I was researching for my project at work, and when I saw the big commercial list, I thought "Why not my product, too?" :-) I promise I won't do it again.

2. My fault... since budterence.tk was in the same headline as the other spam, I thought you had it removed, as well :-) Unfortunately I won't be a big contributor. I prefer contributing with text only when I'm 100% sure - and I'm not a good trusted source about anything :-P I just wanted to give the best (IMHO) reference about the actor in the article.

As I told "Ichiro", I didn't realize that linking to content that relates to the subject matter was a violation of Wikipedia policy. Please accept my humble apology.

If there's a way to include content and get credit for the entries, please let me know.

(sorry, I am not good with making headlines and stuff) I am deeply sorry for my link to a website ("battlemaster", just to give you a clue about what I am talking about), I hadnt read the rules.

Re: backup-manager

[edit]

Hi, you left some boiler-plate type message regarding "commercial links — or links to your own private websites" in my user talk. I'm not really sure if I'm supposed to respond in my talk area or in yours. Anyway, backup-manager isn't a commercial link or a private website of mine. I simply added links to backup software I found in the Debian repositories to provide a central point of information on backup software. I noticed there were some pretty good ones missing.

In regards to commercial links, there's a section on that page for "Proprietary" software. Even though I hadn't added any, this does imply that there could be links to commercial software.

sorry, i am too lazy to review them. i am leaving it up to the users of wikitionary to handle that. anyway, it has a clear disclaimer that it is a dump. -- Zondor 09:53, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it's alright. we're all part of the same sister projects arent we? these very short articles can only go towards the wiktionary project. people come onto wikipedia thinking it is an dictionary as well. people over here also have to put up with these "garbage" dictionary entries that keep popping as well. wikipedia is not a dictionary. assume good faith. wiktionary should appreciate all these new contributions that wikipedia attracts. -- Zondor 10:07, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
regarding the deletion log. firstly, these are definately not good enough for wikipedia and so are given to wiktionary. if its not good enough for wiktionary, then its not good enough for wikimedia. simple as that. -- Zondor 10:16, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nota bene

I had already explained that the link wasn't self promotion or commercial link on my precedent post :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Bougearel#bougearel.blog.lemonde

If it was self-promotion, then why not delete for the same purpose the link to Villa Rewak about the History fact Sheet?

THE TarotL HISTORY INFORMATION SHEET

http://www.villarevak.org/misc/tarotl_1.html

The case is exactly similar : Tarots - Art and Magic http://bougearel.blog.lemonde.fr/bougearel/2005/12/tarots_art_et_m.html

standing on principle under fire.

[edit]

It is distinctly interesting that those at SEW want to pollute wikipedia with links to their own sites of interest and profit, while distinctly overreacting and assuming that every link put in their forums is there for subversive purposes of self promotion of the poster. And yet they try to do it to you. I am awed!

So how do they get there? Is it required that somebody outside the company writes it or something? I just don't understand the reasoning here. Would you please explain? mailto:leife@bizx.com

Perfecto, stop being selective then in who you allow to post. Our site is no different than several others that are appearing on the page, yet somehow their "commercial" links seem acceptable. You need to stop "selectively censoring" various sites and following a uniform policy. If you don't, then you yourself are responsible for the backlash against you.

Image:Celeste Holm.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Celeste Holm.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs 13:08, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This image has been replaced by the public domain image Image:Celeste Holm in Gentleman's Agreement trailer.jpg Rossrs 13:08, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mollela, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Non-free use disputed for Image:Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Arrowhead Spring Water logo.gif

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Arrowhead Spring Water logo.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:12, 8 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Larisa Oleynik, 10 Things I Hate About You.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Larisa Oleynik, 10 Things I Hate About You.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 13:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The Skeptic's Annotated Bible. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Skeptic's Annotated Bible (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Spiral zone logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Spiral zone logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:42, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Yahoo directory

[edit]

Template:Yahoo directory has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 23:20, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Yahoo directory requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
