The Scroll box, especially on articles with very long reference sections, creates a better looking article which is easier to navigate than the box-free alternative But only for some users. For those without java, or other limitations, the effect is opposite, the boxed reference section is difficult to read. The changing penetration of java across browsers should be considered.

Some of the solutions include detecting java and displaying an appropriate page, that's too hard for me to implement, and too big an ask to make a proposal.

One of the makeshift solutions (there are many) would be a clickable link in the article close to the reference box for users who cannot see the contents. Some users would be able to use that button to display a transclusion based box-free alternative page. This temporary workaround might be worth the effort.

One problem this creates is the History page of the original page is not echoed to the transcluded page. It is required for attribution licensing.
