Edit warring and BLP violations

[edit]

Hello. At the moment your account seems to be used for the single purpose of adding negative content to the biographies of living chess players, including with deceptive citations, and then responding to the removal of that content by edit warring. If you are not here to build an encyclopedia then please do not make things any harder for the people who are. But if you are interested in contributing encyclopedic content to chess articles, I would be more than happy to help you find pages about chess that need a lot of work, along with sources and materials that you can use to make them better. This can be not just a good way to share free information about the game that we love and make the world a better place, but it is also a nice reason to read a lot of chess material, think about how to summarize it and introduce it to someone, and write about it cogently, and that can be a great way to grow as a chess player. If you would like to spend your time that way instead, just respond here or leave a message on my talk page. - Astrophobe (talk) 11:07, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Astrophobe,
I'm making a factual edit. The claim that Susan Polgar wasn't allowed to compete in the World Championship in 1986 because of her gender just isn't true. Can you find a reputable source online that says that it is true? It says it on chess.com forums and a few other people believe it cause Botez said it, but it's just not true. So if anyone's spreading misinformation, it's you, who's editing the page to make it seem like it is true.
However, this was one mistake on Botez's part, and perhaps it doesn't merit a negative remark on her Wikipedia page. So I'm willing to compromise. How about we just remove those few sentences altogether where she says that women weren't allowed to play in elite chess events back in the day. Then the page will be accurate and it won't have negativity on it. PenguinsDeserveBetter (talk) 22:08, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Since this will be of interest to other page watchers I've responded at Talk:Alexandra Botez. - Astrophobe (talk) 22:26, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
