Something strange with NZ stubs
[edit]I've found some New zealand electorate stubs. The stub is This article about new zealand politics is a stub, but the Categories say New Zealand stubs and Politics stubs. Example Raglan (NZ electorate). Other stubs on this subject say the same thing. What is going on? User:Kathleen.wright5 08:35, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's 107 NZ electorate stubs as counted from Category:Politics stubs User:Kathleen.wright5 21:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Blofeld
[edit]OK but most of my film lists have been created now, they just need development! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:11, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh perhaps you could create a new Template:Bengali-film-stub. There are bound to be over 60 film in Category:Bengali-language films which are still stubs ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:07, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- sorry for not abiding by the guidelines. I last created a stub category many months back, when there was probably no such guidelines. I will propose the new stub cat in the new proposals page. --Dwaipayan (talk) 18:23, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
stub types for deletion
[edit]Hello. I was browsing Wikipedia:Stub_types_for_deletion#To_orphan and noticed that {{CPI(M)-politician-stub}} was due to be orphaned. This part I understand. But it also says "(renamed)". Does this mean it has been renamed or still needs to be renamed? I'm preparing to orphan the stub. Here is the SfD if it helps. I also wasn't sure what Upmerge meant. Any info you could provide on these two points would be most appreciated.--Rockfang (talk) 05:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- So since the new stub type has been made, I'm guessing just the replace part is all that is left?--Rockfang (talk) 05:27, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
New Project
[edit]Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
regarding a stub type for deletion ready to be orphaned
[edit]What discussion resulted in this change being able to be carried out? I was going to add a link to it in the edit summary when I do the orphaning.--Rockfang (talk) 07:29, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I like what you did very much. However, I think the better title is Jewish question (texts). I would have WP:Moved it myself, however, I've been restricted from moving any pages until June 15, 2008. Please consider my recommendation. --Ludvikus (talk) 18:12, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Museums stubs split by continent
[edit]Hi thanks for helping with the bengali recat. see my request to User talk:Alai.Feel free to add any comments. If there are less than 60 in Africa perhaps we could make sure there are 60 stubs. Museum-stub seems a bit broad given the amount of museums in the world. COuld you arrange something with ALai thanks. How is Your Pegship anyway. CFD for African-American categories
[edit]Hello, Your Pegship: Seeing as nobody else is taking the initiative on retagging all of those categories for full CFD, I thought you might take care of it, since it was you that dropped the little bundles off at the orphanage. :) Cgingold (talk) 21:37, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Procedure
[edit]"People should not close discussions in which they have been involved. To do so presents a conflict of interest." <--- comes right from Wikipedia:Deletion process. Wizardman 22:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Main articles/catmore
[edit]I notice you used {{catmore}} on Category:Books critical of religion. The problem here is that criticism of religion is the main article of the parent category Category:Criticism of religion, not this category itself (of course, if we had an article books critical of religion or criticism of religion in books, which wouldn't be that unreasonable a subject, that could be used with catmore). Catmore is a template that is not used often enough, but it must be used correctly. The template {{main}} is also often misused, i.e. used where the material below it is not a summary of the article it is purported to summarize. Maybe you wouldn't make this mistake again even if I didn't tell you this, but you might also like to tell others if you see them making the same sort of mistake. Re:Deletion Process (SFD)
[edit]Hi Peg - you wrote: On the deletion process page, the non-admin closure section says "Editors in good standing who have not been made administrators may close deletion discussions, with the following provisions..." one of which is that if you don't have power to delete something you can't close the discussion (see also WP:NADC). If this is true, we need some more admins to keep up with closures on this page, as so many of us loyal WPSSers are non-admins. (And Grutness can't be everywhere at once...)
I try, I try ;) But... this begs one important question. There's one faithful and diligent worker at SfD who should have put herself forward for adminship long ago... there is a gap in the list of administrators between User:Pegasus and User:Pengo. Shall I nominate you to fill that gap? Grutness...wha? 00:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Have a look over Wikipedia:Administrators, which has most of the details, and also have a look at the sort of questions that are asked in Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, since they're going to be asked of you too. I'll give it a day or so then I'll prepare and post your nom for adminship (I'm taking a 24 hour break from WP - it's my birthday :) - I'll let you know when it's ready for you to accept nomination and answer the questions. Grutness...wha? 01:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
mesogastropoda stubs
[edit]At a technical level, this ought to be pretty easy. The problem seems to be getting the gastropodists to agree exactly what the "correct" classification actually should be. I've poked them on it more than once, and I tend to get answers like "there's a new taxonomy for them coming out Real Soon Now!", or "it's a handy holding area for all the article that Polbot messed up, that we know need to be fixed". If you have some more definitive plan of action, though, I'll see what I can do to help out. Alai (talk) 18:27, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- It sounds like a good plan to me, at any rate, but then again to me a snail is a snail... Want to run that past the snailist WPJ, and see if they agree/fail to object sufficiently strongly? Alai (talk) 22:53, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Bot approved: dabbing help needed
[edit]Hi there. Fritz bot has been approved at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/FritzpollBot for filling in a possible 1.8 million articles on settlements across the world. Now dabbing needs to be done for links which aren't sorted as the bot will bypass any blue links. and I need as many people as possible to help me with Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places to prepare for the bot. If you could tackle a page or two everything counts as it will be hard to do it alone. Thankyou ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:01, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Pegship. Regarding your RfA, I might've got you wrong, but the Q1 answer seems to indicate that admin tools are needed to "merge articles that are redundant", which is confusing to me since we don't do "delete" after "merge" due to the copyright law. i assume you meant "merge page histories", not "merge articles", but anyway I think Q1 still needs a bit clarification. :) Happy editing, --PeaceNT (talk) 07:29, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
