Proposed deletion of Death on the Nile (2004 film)

@Pegship: Hello, this is GUtt01 here, and I like to inform you that your recent edits to Death on the Nile (2004 film) were reverted for a number of reasons. The chief reason among them, is that you did not give a valid reason for removing the templates, and did not improve the article at all as requested; you failed to give any citations whatsoever, regardless of the reference you believed was correct. The reason this article was proposed for deletion is that this adaptation of the novel by Agatha Christie contains little difference between it and the original, other than a few minor changes. The article covering the original story has sufficient coverage of the televised adaptation, so there is no need to create a separate article for it; for the film version of the 70s, I have no objection to a separate page, yet I have seen no one making pages for other televised adaptations made for ITV's Poirot series. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

New or spoiled stub templates

Hi Pegship, I noticed that you are fixing some of Category:Stub message templates needing attention. It might be worth you keeping an eye on that category, as I found some old nonsense in it today, e.g. [1].

I noticed that Category:Ghana library stubs was empty, and tagged it for speedy deletion. It was created at the same time as Template:Ghana-library-stub; I tried using that as an intersection template, but only found two library pages in Category:Ghana geography stubs. Is it better to leave it or delete it? It was unused before I found it, so Id be happy to revert the two pages where I used it, and give them two stub templates instead. – Fayenatic London 11:21, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

I found some weird cases where stub templates were not displaying properly, because they had some invisible characters, namely non-breaking spaces: [2].

Stubs

Hi. I couldn't find where the guidance is, but what is the policy about classifying stubs in normal categories in addition to the sub-stub-category. Specifically, Category:Legal terminology stubs contains 120 pages that are also in Category:Legal terminology - given that the former is a sub-category of the latter, stubs should only be in the dedicated stub category, right? --DannyS712 (talk) 00:35, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! The stub tag is just a flag that an article needs work/improvement; the stub category (Category:Legal terminology stubs) collects those tagged articles in one place but does not supersede the permanent category (Category:Legal terminology). The stub tag can be added or removed without changing or having to add back the perm cat. This also helps the casual user to find an article without trying to figure out what a stub category is. April and May stubs

Why have I received this message? All administrators are receiving it. What prompted you to send this message? Recently, several Wikipedia admin accounts were compromised. The admin accounts were desysopped on an emergency basis. In the past, the Committee often resysopped admin accounts as a matter of course once the admin was back in control of their account. The committee has updated its guidelines. Admins may now be required to undergo a fresh Request for Adminship (RfA) after losing control of their account. What do I need to do? Only to follow the instructions in this message. Check that your password is unique (not reused across sites). Check that your password is strong (not simple or guessable). Enable Two-factor authentication (2FA), if you can, to create a second hurdle for attackers. How can I find out more about two-factor authentication (2FA)? You can find out more about 2FA at m:2FA.

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
