on reply) 20:42, 18 May 2021 (UTC)@Qwerfjkl: I am sorry - I am very new here. I was just looking to create a page about a semi-famous local architect and all of the buildings he created in my town. I wanted to start with his latest works, but I have subsequently been told that there aren't reliable sources - these are primary sources, some from over 130 years ago - one from a book written by the person who commissioned the project and another by a survey of the land commissioned by the town. There are many physical print books about this. Can I reference those? I don't want to spend too much time on this if it is not going to work anyway. I have also been told that churches don't get articles - but that is clearly not true, there are loads of churches that do, I guess this one may just not reach the required level of interest. Its a big deal for the town, but perhaps not outside of the town. Anyway, I don't even know if this response will get to you (or anyone) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peaches4free (talk • contribs)
- Peaches4free, I don't know who told you that churches don't get articles, but you definitely should not take their advice anymore. You are allowed to use primary sources, "but only with care, because it is easy to misuse them." Please read over this section for specific guidelines regarding primary sources. Per WikiProject Religion, "presumption of notability for a religious structure or building depends wholly on the existence of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." This means that, while primary sources are good, you should include secondary sources as well, meaning sources that have no connection to the church whatsoever. @Qwerfjkl:
Thank you for the information here. I initially included some secondary sources, but most of the information is contained on sites maintained by the town or the church itself. There are a few books written, but not a lot of web-based secondary sources - hence trying to get information up here. I will read what you have posted here and try to absorb it. There is almost too much information given on the guidelines, I sometimes think it actually makes it harder to understand than if there was less information.
Out of curiosity, are you an admin/mod here? Do you approve a bunch of new articles, or did you just randomly stumble across this one?
Thanks for your help by the way!

- I am not an admin, I use the AfC script to approve new articles, and chose a random 0-day-old article. Thanks for adding sources! ― Qwerfjkl | 𝕋𝔸𝕃𝕂 (please use
