Help regarding my article: Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib
[edit]{{Help me}}
Dear Friend(s),
I've completed my first article for Wikipedia and submitted it for review; however, I am concerned about two issues:
1.) The title of my article needs to be changed, and I don't know how to do it. (It is currently labeled as my sandbox, but should be entitled Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib. 2.) Is there any way to ensure that my article has been submitted properly and is indeed in line for review/attention.
Thank you for your help! Paul Pdsayre (talk) 01:33, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Pdsayre
- Page moved to User:Pdsayre/Sylvan_(Sholom)_Kalib. And then moved for AfC for you. Now you just have to wait for review Ronhjones (Talk) 02:09, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, (Talk)! I appreciate it very much! Pdsayre
How do "thumbnail images" work within articles?
[edit]This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I have successfully submitted my first article: User:Pdsayre/Sylvan_(Sholom)_Kalib. The article includes an important "image" of a musical analysis, which I would like for the public to be able to download as a large image (I believe that it is now set up so that the public will be able to do this, once the article finally "posts"). However, the initial view of the image on the page is microscopic. I would like it to be a larger and more decorative "thumbnail." Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Pdsayre (talk) 12:39, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Pdsayre. Any user can view the image at full size by clicking on it (which takes them to the File:Sylvan-Kalib-Schenker-Graph-Brahms-Intermezzo.pdf) and then selecting Full Resolution from the list of image sizes just below the image. It would be nice if it was larger on the article page, though; to do this, add the following code to the page:
[[File:Sylvan-Kalib-Schenker-Graph-Brahms-Intermezzo.pdf|thumb|center|upright=2.0|Urlinie-Graph Analysis (Schenkerian Analysis) by Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib of Johannes Brahms’s ''Intermezzo, Opus 119, no. 3'']]
- The licensing could well be an issue, though; can you provide any evidence that Kalib has forfeited his copyright to the work? You'll need to provide such evidence (email it to permissions@en-wiki.org) if the picture is to be kept. Yunshui 雲水 13:16, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Note: new talk page sections go at the bottom.
- Hello. Extensive self help can be found here: Wikipedia:Picture tutorial.
- I would suggest replacing the gallery tags (and everything within them) with the following:
[[File:Sylvan-Kalib-Schenker-Graph-Brahms-Intermezzo.pdf|thumb|center|upright=3.0|Urlinie-Graph Analysis (Schenkerian Analysis) by Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib of Johannes Brahms’s ''Intermezzo, Opus 119, no. 3'']]
- Which produces the following:
- The main differences are, not using the <gallery> tags, and using the thumb, center and upright parameters instead. You are still able to click on the image for an even bigger version. All the info can be found on the tutorial page above. Hope this helps! -- Patchy1 13:30, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib, 2007.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Sylvan (Sholom) Kalib, 2007.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:54, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
