Molly Houses topic
[edit]Yes - excellent - it's perfectly consistent with our subject. I see that Shoemaker & Hitchcock at (note 8 to ch 1) cite an online source book, which sounds interesting. There are also lots of trials on the OBO. Maybe contact Saul?Jfclegg (talk) 10:28, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- I'm trying a wikipedia template to make this thread visible, I hope I got it right. (If not, please tell me!) @Navarco: --Pbord (talk) 16:10, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- It worked all right! I think this page would be a perfect one to improve, great find @Pbord:.--Navarco (talk) 09:27, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Charles Hitchin/Hitchen would be useful. See his pamphlet The Regulator (have copy) . I have also ordered Howson's THief taker General (which should arrive 27 Oct) . As for 2ndary sources see Tim Hitchcock English Masculinities, 1660-1800

Dead link
[edit]Sure, go ahead! You are working to improve the article, a dead link is defenitely something to correct. --Navarco (talk) 19:48, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Suggestions
[edit]You could usefully collaborate with Lela Lazishvili who is working on Charles Hitchen. I have a copy of The Regulator. I alsohave dvds of the TV soap series Garrow's law; series 2 episode 2 deals with a sodomy trial & Molly House. Will bring to class tomorrow. --Jfclegg (talk) 23:30, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry for my late reply! I've seen this notification just now. Pbord (talk) 17:38, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Léon Choubrac
[edit]Hello Pbord,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Léon Choubrac for deletion, because it's not written in English. To request a translation, please visit the translation page. If you'd like to contribute to another Wikipedia, take a look at our full list of language projects.
If you feel that I made a mistake, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Officialjjones (talk) 00:27, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Officialjjones: I don't know why you tagged my article for not being written in English, because it clearly is. It's concise but the language I used is English. Maybe you only looked at the title? In any case your speed deletion nomination was declined. Pbord (talk) 08:23, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Collaboration
[edit]Hello, Thank you for your suggestions, I'll add the section ab. molly houses and I'll check if Hitchen was actually arrested in the molly house. Thank you.Lela Lazishvili (talk) 11:21, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Article images: lack of material
[edit]Hi Pbord, I think the image you added could be fine, but it would also be nice if you explained your doubts about it and why you chose it also on the article's talk page. In this way other can see your reasoning, agree or not with it and possibly suggest other images.--Navarco (talk) 19:09, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Did you check the other languages versions? Here is a good find from croatian: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Macaroni_19C_illus.jpg You could also consider uploading this image to Commons and then using it, since it's in the public domain: http://collections.britishart.yale.edu/vufind/Record/3633908 Btw, this could be interesting to quote: https://books.google.it/books?hl=it&id=TbJKAAAAMAAJ&q=molly#v=snippet&q=molly&f=false as well as this: Sex and the Gender Revolution, Volume 1, Heterosexuality and the Third Gender in Enlightenment London, by Randolph Trumbach Navarco (talk) 19:30, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Navarco: Thank you very much for your suggestions!!
- 1)I need to update my bibliography because I already looked for Trumbach's work 2 weeks ago and it's not evident.
- 2) I saw the image you suggested somewhere during my research, and I found it interesting but as I was looking to find a picture with only male transvestites, since molly house seemed to be frequented exclusively by men and I didn't want it to be misleading. I will definitely find some more about Macaroni.
- 3) I didn't think about discussing the question in the talk page because I didn't receive any feedback so far, it seems abandoned. But maybe the problem it's me, beacause I didn't post anything looking like a real "question" to discuss, I will try to be more daring.

for the accuracy of the information
[edit]Hi, I've checked the information on OBO about the location of Hitchin's arrest, that was in Talbot Inn: http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/browse.jsp?id=t17270412-41-defend243&div=t17270412-41# I agree with you that it isn't necessarily a molly house. Thanks for mentioning that detail, I will note it in my editing. Lela Lazishvili (talk) 21:04, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Molly house assessment
[edit]Good work on Molly house! I have assessed the article to B Class. There are some minor clean-up issues - some of the references have invalid date values and the section Activities needs to have the formatting fixed for clarity. Please make sure the spelling of English words are consistent with British spelling - unless it is direct quote. You may wish to progress to a peer review or nominate the article for Good Article (GA) review. Cheers Gmcbjames (talk) 18:34, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Gmcbjames: Thank you very much for the speed of your reply (and the B, of course).Pbord (talk) 09:19, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
