Federal Reserve article
How is your planned article different from the U.S. one dollar bill article?? Georgia guy 02:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Stop
Please explain on the talk page why you think it makes sense to have your new currency articles. The one about the $1 bill is now on Afd and my vote is to re-direct. Georgia guy 02:27, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Garbled and unclear subject do not fit the requirements of speedy delete. The appropriate tags for such articles are {{cleanup-date|date}} and {{cleanup-context}}. Enochlau 23:47, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
"Unencyclopedic"?
Why have you deleted all of the material in the entry Dell Hymes that discusses his significance to linguistics, folklore, and literary theory? Granted, it could be rewritten in a less POV or conversational tone, but deleting it serves no purpose. If you don't appreciate his contributions, you shouldn't just delete them willy-nilly without putting up discussion about how or why they should be edited. I won't revert, because your edits in the first paragraph are useful, but I will reconstruct the article in a more encyclopedic tone based on the previous version. Bruxism 03:01, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
- Your explanation that the text is saved in the history is absurd. If I'm not the person doing the future edits, who will know all that material is in the history? Do most people look at the complete history of an entry before editing? I don't think so. Bruxism 17:11, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
- Bruxism - I agree with you about the 'willy-nilly' deletion of contributions. This user has done something similar with Morrisville State College, assumably because of its overly-POV content. POV content should be edited, not deleted. And no one should delete large bits of contributions without first discussing it on the talk page, perhaps with users who edit said article frequently and are, arguably, more familiar with the topic. 24.59.199.207 03:50, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
WikiProject Numismatics
Welcome to WikiProject Numismatics. I'm really impressed with the way you've presented yourself in this AfD. I wish other authors would assume good faith in AfD and explain calmly why they think pages should be kept. --TantalumTelluride 23:34, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
$1 FRN and like changes
Hi, I understand the ideas that your trying to convey. However, I think it would be much more suitable if the specifics of the $1 FRN and $2 FRN(I saw the $2 FRN article too) were put in the Federal Reserve Note article. I'm not sure how familar you are with U.S. currency, but I was thinking that the Federal Reserve Note article should have further information about specific series of notes and the changes that accomplied them. (E.G. Series of 1913 heading with information about first Federal Reserve Notes, Series of 1963 heading with info about 1st $1 FRN, Series of 1976 heading with info about the first $2 FRN, etc.) If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message. --Kurt 00:20, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi Paul, I see what you're doing with U.S. one dollar bill. Your additions enhance the article, but I suspect that you'll (metaphorically) paint yourself in a corner with the different type of notes (USN, FRN, SC,...) here... and, most likely, a similar repetition with each of the other denominations. May I suggest the following (I think I mentioned it in the AfD discussion, but my short term memory isn't the greatest, either):
Set up a section entitled U.S. currency types (or more appropriate name). In it put the description of the red seal USN, blue seal (or brown seal) SC, Hawaii notes, yellow seal GC, etc. with a general description of the various types (after all, do we need detailed repetition between the $1 US Note and the $5 US Note?) and representative pictures of various denominations.
This will cut down on the duplications, and - more importantly - "free up" U.S. one dollar bill (and others) for sections dealing with the evolution of the design over the years. Ditto the other denominations. It will be more challenging for you, but in the long run the results will be far more rewarding for you and more interesting for the so-called "average" reader (I'm partial to the large notes that were circulated prior to 1920 myself).
I hope this helps. Good luck! I'll stop by from time to time and check (I'm in the middle of the Florida State Roads project myself - thank goodness I can write about my local roads!). B.Wind 03:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Coin renamings
Hi. I've just come across some of the coin renamings you've done in the last couple of hours. PLEASE STOP until you appreciate that articles are not named "British coin ..." and "English coin ..." at random — it is totally incorrect to rename, for example English coin Noble to Noble (British coin) - those coins were produced centuries before there was a British State to issue them. In most cases this is only a technicality (although intensely annoying to us UKians), but in the case of English coin Florin or Double Leopard which you've moved to Florin (British coin) there is also a British coin called the Florin produced 500 years later which also has its own article. Basic principle: NO COINS PRODUCED BEFORE 1603 CAN BE DESCRIBED AS "BRITISH", ALL COINS AFTER 1707 ARE "BRITISH", THOSE PRODUCED IN BETWEEN COULD BE EITHER. -- Arwel (talk) 00:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Numismatics
Thanks for your welcome. I appreciate feedback/help on my Wiki contributions. I've been active in the Numismatics WikiProject since I got here, and am working to re-organize (although no one has responded to my suggestions yet -- want to be the first? see Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics/Categories). I wasn't sure what Category:United States Mint engraver was exactly, so figured I wouldn't mess with it. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I believe it probably should be replaced completely by Category:United States currency designers and will update my category structure proposal accordingly.
When I got to your talk page, I noticed that someone else commented on your renaming coin articles. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Numismatics/Style if you haven't already. I'm trying to get consensus there on what the naming convention should be for articles about a single coin or note. Mom2jandk 23:04, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Technical answer
Hi,
Where is this computer help desk page you speak of? I had best go get my name off of it as soon as possible. Judging from your question, you seem to know more about Internet applications than I do. I've watchlisted your talk page, so you can reply right here. --Smack (talk) 04:46, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hello -- I do not recall actually -- I believe it is for technical issues relating to Wikipedia. I kinda just picked the first name I saw and left a message, but my question was pretty esoteric so I'd be surprised if anyone has a clue what I was asking about anyway. If you can't find it I'll look again but I left you the message (probably) because you answered someone's question. Paul 04:48, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Categories
First of all, I'm a ma'am, but am not offended. Second, I have been asking for feedback (and not getting it) on my category redesign proposal, so I'm not offended at all. I thought I might finally get feedback once I started making changes. This is not my preferred way of doing things, and I have directly asked for feedback on the Numismatics project talk page, and even your talk page. Anyway, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#Directors of the United States Mint if you would like to comment on that one. Also please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics/Categories if you'd like to comment on other parts of the proposed redesign. Mom2jandk 14:19, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
I guess I should add why I renamed the category in the first place. I was confused by it as a non-US collector. I didn't realize that the US Mint was an organization containing other mints. I still think it would be clearer to have a category just for branch mints, but I don't mind if others disagree. Also, I was not aware of the fact that engravers were necessarily designers. Is this true in other countries as well? I see you left the officers category, but put directors back as well. Shouldn't directors be a subcategory of officers? Shouldn't engravers also be a subcategory of officers? I'm not trying to make unilateral decisions, but I think a redesign is necessary in general (not necessarily anymore in the mints section), and I don't know much about US coins/mints. I appreciate any help/feedback Mom2jandk 14:25, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for your detailed reply. I'm from the US (Texas), but have always been more interested in world coins than local. The idea of different people having different "money" is what has always fascinated me about various currencies since I was a kid. Right now, I'm most interested in how currencies change over time (through regime change, inflation, monetary unions, etc), but have never had a source like this to really indulge my curiosity. I'm more of a collector than a numismatist, but am also an information junkie. I'm definitely an organizer (as you probably could've guessed), although anyone who's seen my house might wonder (my kids are 3 1/2 and 1 1/2). (I ought to add that to my user page, and will momentarily).
- About currency forgery/money forgery, since "currency" includes coins, I'm not sure I understand your comment. I'm a little unclear on the technical distinction between currency and money though, so don't know which one it should be. Mom2jandk 19:30, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Note
Thanks for telling me what was going on, I was confused when all sorts of categories were up for deletion, and articles in as many as 5-6 categories. We are currently voting on the system of categorization we are going to implement. You are welcome to vote. Have a nice day!
Johann Wolfgang 18:15, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- It's not actually voting per se, just putting in ones own ideas. You can find it here.
Please do not move or rename a page by copy/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history. (The GFDL requires acknowledgement of all contributors, and editors continue to hold copyright on their contributions unless they specifically give up this right. Hence it is required that edit histories be preserved for all major contributions until the normal copyright expires.)
If for some reason you cannot rename a page, or you think the renaming may be controversial, please go to WP:RM (Requested Moves) and post it there. Thank you. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 22:34, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Currency designers
I've run across some currency designers, and was wondering where you think they should be categorized. There's Glenna Goodacre & Thomas D. Rogers of the Sac dollar, and several Finns are mentioned at Finnish markka. Ingrid 05:05, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- I've put some people into Category:United States currency designers and Category:Currency designers. Is it okay for me to remove the merge notices? I don't know the procedure. Dear Paul,
Thanks for your invitation to meet. I am in Buenos Aires, but by the time of your trip I´m having my first child so I´ll be quite focused in fatherhood and I think I won´t have time for going out. However feel free to ask me any questions or anything about you would wish for an argentine advise. Also I work in an Exchange House so if you need any currency help you can ask me to. Have a Nice Holiday. Greetings Javier Jelovcan 14:27, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi again! In order to move around Argentina I think the best option is by bus. The main bus stations in Buenos Aires are in Retiro, Buenos Aires and Constitucion station, these are also the first and last station of the Buenos Aires Metro (subway, underground). You can find a map of this in [www.subte.com.ar] The bus trip to Montevideo is quite long (and currently the bridge between Gualeguaychú and Fray Bentos is been cut by argentinians complainig against the inaguration of two paper plants aside the Uruguay River, this could make the trip longer). Going by water (crossing the River Plate in a [www.buquebus.com Buquebus]) is a little more expensive but considerably more faster. I think the best option is a combination, by water to Colonia del Sacramento and by bus to Montevideo. About getting a job I would like to know what area you are interested in. I think the tourism industry would be the easiest considering you speak native english. Hope you find this information useful. Best regards. Javier Jelovcan 15:47, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

That's the way Seinfeld greeted his neighbour... About your trip to Argentina, I will be glad to meet you there. I will confirm later whether I'm available or not. I think I can. Anyway, you are also invited to Lobos, my hometown. But first, as I said before, I have to confirm, so I will let you know very soon. Kind regards, Luis María Benítez 23:29, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Chévere is a word used in Venezuela (from what I know). In Argentina we talk a different Spanish, for instance instead of saying "tú" (you, informal treatment) we say "vos" and change verbs. Example: "tú tienes" (you have), but we say "vos tenés"... you see? My birthday is coming closer (by January 22) and I had been planning to travel to Córdoba (another province) where my uncle lives. I still have to confirm whether I will be here or not by your arrival. My e-mail address is lmbnas@hotmail.com. Tell me about your trip: how long are you staying, interests, what kind of help you're looking for, etc. Kind regards, Luis María Benítez 15:15, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Argentina
Hi, Paul!
I've just seen your message in my talk page. It will be great having you here in the (really) deep South. I will probably be on vacation by the time you arrive, but please call me to my cellphone (when in Argentina, dial 15-4413-6378; from abroad dial +54-911-4413-6378). We will surely get an opportunity to have some beer and a long talk. BTW, I'm heading North next week. I'll be in Boston from January 14th to January 18th, staying at Hotel@MIT; give me a call if you want. Since I don't log into en:WP everyday, I would appreciate any replies in my Wikipedia en español talk page. Cinabrium 06:02, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for a late reply! I'm going to Boston to attend a conference on GPL by kind invitation from the Free Software Foundation. BTW, your Spanish (at least, the written one) does not seem mediocre to me. However, there is a difficult step, particularly for English-speaking people: all nouns in Spanish have a gender. Therefore, it is "el mensaje" (male) instead of "la mensaje" (female), which is correct... in Portuguese ;). Cinabrium 18:47, 10 January 2006 (UTC) talk page in es:WP

Is it correct to move ABIT out of Category:Motherboard? There are a few (well, like, three) other manufacturers in there. Is there a more appropriate category for mobo manufacturers? -- Mikeblas 23:38, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

FYI disambig style guidelines:Longer lists
If the number of entries is large, the list may be broken up by subject area, as shown:
Thingamajig may mean:
In science:
* Thingamajig (chemistry), an isotope of chlorine * Thingamajig (physics), a kind of pulsar * Thingamajig (biology), an invasive plant used as ground cover
In world music:
* Thingamajig (Qatar), a seven-stringed musical instrument * Thingamajig (Peru), a wind instrument similar to an aulos
If the list is extremely long (more than thirty entries), you may use section headers instead (or in addition), as on John Taylor. To shorten the page suppress the table of contents by placing __NOTOC__ (No Table Of Contents) near the top of the page or use
to place the table on the right hand side. Best Wishes SatuSuro 23:43, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Paul, sorry about being a bit of a pedant here! I used to (not much now) trawl disambigs, and it used to irritate the hell out of me that so many were so jumbled - and I didnt even know the correct protocol for layout :) . I try to alpha order subject/headings so as to alleviate my hangups about problems with bias in listing
order. Best wishes SatuSuro 01:56, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:User-PaulHanson.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Re: New Mexico
When I first moved to New Mexico I was pessimistic about the place. It was too hot, too cold, too dry, too high (I seriously couldn't breathe until I'd been here about a month). After living here almost 12 years, I love it and would not want to live anywhere else. If you're considering coming here, keep the adjustment period in mind. As far as hiking, I think the desert in general is a great place for it. In my opinion, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah are the best places for hiking I've ever been. I especially enjoy hiking in the Albuquerque area, because a short drive puts you in the mountains, near some volcanoes, or in the middle of nowhere with great views. Overall, my feedback for New Mexico would be: A++++ would live here again and will recommend to others.

Spoken Wikipedia
Hey fellow Wikipedian, I'm glad to see someone's interested in Spoken Wikipedia :) I've actually been too busy to record any articles lately, but I can help you with setting yourself up. You'll need a microphone, nothing special. You can pick one up from Radio Shack for under $30 that gets the job done. Make sure the mic connects with a 3.5mm jack plug (this connection is compatible with your sound card.)
From there, you can record yourself right in Audacity. You can use the slider bar with the microphone next to it to perfect the volume of your mic (it should be loud enough to be audible, but low enough to not clip or distort). When you speak into your mic, the "meters" in the upper right hand corner shouldn't go past 0db.
Once you get your volumes perfected, you can start recording yourself if you haven't already by pressing the big red record button. When you finished talking, just press the square stop button. To edit out sections, just simply highlight the part you don't want and press delete.
Now you just need to encode to Ogg Vorbis. You might want to check the encode quality first by going to File>Preferences under the File formats tab. I believe between 4 and 6 is a good level for Vorbis. Finally, go to File>Export as Ogg Vorbis and you're done :)
Make sure you read the recording guidelines for recording tips, instructions on things like compression and noise removal and some guidelines. If you have any other questions feel free to drop a note on my talk page. Happy recording! --Kevin McManus 22:48, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- Glad I could help you out, Paul. I actually lived on LI for 13 years before I moved up here. I think I would attend a NYC meetup if one was put together ;) --Kevin McManus 22:59, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I forked this off on purpose, as a long list of the books would detract from Doonesbury, unlike how the list works in Calvin and Hobbes, as there are far fewer books in the latter. Compare also Garfield, where the lists overly lengthen the article. --JohnDBuell 19:53, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Socialist Organizer on Wikipedia
I'm the contributor of this piece, and I'd like to know what you think needs to be done about it. I'd appreciate suggestions from people who think it needs work, not just to have it tagged with the advert tag, which I just find annoying.
cargohook 23:42, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- Many thanks to Paul and Kimchi for your helpful hints. Kimchi's right, the base for this article was the front page of the organization's official site. I've just started to work on it, this is virtually a stub, and it will be continually improved and expanded over the next weeks. So I just ask other Wikipedians to be patient with me on this. One idea I have would be to compare and contrast Socialist Organizer's positions with the criticisms of other progressives; that means that arguments for and against S.O.'s positions would be explored. Do you all feel that this would help in dealing with the POV/advert concern? Thanks for your patience, just keep in mind, I'm new at this and still learning.

FS1037C
I made another template:
{{FS1037C}} is a template used to tag articles that contain content from this standard. {{FS1037C MS188}} is for articles that contain content from this standard and/or MIL-STD-188. They can be used to replace any "Source: " instances, links to Federal Standard 1037C in the references section or at the beginning of the article, instances of this category (the template puts the article in this category already), etc.
Now we can replace all the various incarnations without losing any information. I checked all the ones that were already in the category (phew!) and the rest could probably be done by a bot. — Omegatron 23:18, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Question? Why did you move this from Double Eagle (U.S. coin) ? It seems like it would be so more apropiate where it was. I know there are no other double eagles, but there are also no other Eagle (U.S. coin) in the first place. I was gonna suggest a move, cause I thought it had started that way, but then I saw you moved it the first place. Joe I 00:27, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Rodovid.org
Hi, I found you from the category of Wikipedian genealogists. I wonder if you have heard of/been involved in any of the previous attempts at starting a genealogy wiki under the foundation. Seeing as you were in the category, I thought you may be interested in the new project proposal, Rodovid. This project is currently running at rodovid.org. I would greatly appreciate it if you could visit the site and give me your opinion of it. Any input at all will be useful. Thanks. --Bjwebb (talk) 10:35, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

1.0
Hmm, well, I mostly work out of Wikipedia:Featured article review, which you're welcome to help out in -- the specific instructions are on the page, but the gist of it is to review Wikipedia:Featured articles to see how they can be improved. One thing that would be wonderful is fixing up Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/FAs first -- we need the id number of each featured article from the revision it was promoted. It's easy to do (just find when it was promoted from the history of the talk page, then find the revision of the article closest to that date and copy the number from the URL), but it's tedious... That's really the only part of 1.0 I work on; you could also try the core topics collaboration (working on articles like biology and language). Tuf-Kat 00:56, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
1.0 .. .1
Hey Paul, if you're interested in 1.0, definitely check out the Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team. That's where most of the work is currently being done. There are four subprojects underway, including the one in which I am involved: Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team/Wiki_Sort. Being the primary force behind WikiSort, I am naturally inclined to think of it as the One True Way (tm), but if you could at least read it and leave some comments, I'd be a very grateful. Thanks!the1physicist 01:47, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
1.0 core topics
Hi, Paul. Thanks for your interest. I'd be glad to have your help.
I am mainly involved with the core topics subproject and hope to do more with geography.
In the core topics, we are slowly working on ensuring that about 150 topics are good enough. As we go along, we will add more topics, such as all the countries.
This also includes our [of the fortnight], which started off with a bang but seems to be losing appeal.
Are you interested in any of those articles? Maurreen 02:15, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
And now for something completely different - WP 1.0
Hello, good to hear of your interest in WP 1.0. Core topics is quite active, and is beginning to make a difference on some of these basic subjects. I help with that periodically (though I'm rather busy with work at the moment), and I'm also involved with Work via WikiProjects which has been going well too. The main aim here is to get all of the experts in each subject area to give us their suggestions for articles. There are two welcome side-effects: (1) As a result of our contact some projects get talking about quality issues and may even start a worklist, and (2) it really helps contact between editors and the WP 1.0 project generally, an important thing IMHO. So far we've contacted all of the groups, though we're still compiling the last few results. We are talking about making a second contact of all groups to ask each group for their own subject-specific list of "core topics," that work will probably start soon. If you're interested in helping with the next stage of contacting & compiling sign up with the project, we'll probably be talking about our plans in the next week or so. I think in the end all four sub-projects will contribute something to the early releases of Wikipedia on CD/DVD/paper. Walkerma 05:12, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- In reply to your post, if you want a specific article to work on, can I suggest Humanities? This is our current Core Topics COTF and last time I looked it could use a lot of work! If your main interest is in improving articles, then Core Topics is the best project to work on. Cheers, Walkerma 06:53, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Hey, Paul. There are a few things that need to be done in the 1.0 project.
- Editing some of the lower quality articles on core topics. Humanities is the current collaboration.
- Adding more sources to nearly all of the core topics
- Categorization of core topics, there's some discussion underway.
Any comments in general are also welcome. :) GfloresTalk 01:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
1.0 "Release Version Qualifying"
Hi, Paul. If you're still interested in helping with WP 1.0, I'm interested in your feedback on Wikipedia talk:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Release Version Qualifying. It's essentially an idea to use a process similar to WP:FAC to identify and handle articles and lists that would go in a release version. Maurreen 18:21, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
thanks for the suggestion
to add Correct me if I'm wrong to my list. it's right in the spirit of the thing so, I have done it. I live about an 2 hours north of Albuquerque, which is closer than two hours in NY because . . . . ..... well move out and it will become clear. I'm half Icelandic and half American. Or am I supposed to say "United Statesian" . . or something. I do have aton of stuff to do in Albany NY and wish I was there. Do you have access to a camera? Did I forget to mention that you contact me at your peril because I have stuff to do every where. I need a photograph of a detail inside the capitol Building. It is a carved -- by Corrado Parducci -- lintel in maybe the Senate Chamber, of HH Richardson. Interested? Also any info about the commission. I'll buy you lunch at the Frontier Grill in Albuquerque. Carptrash 04:39, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought that you lived in Albany. Yes, let me know when you're going to be here and we'll see what we can do. This is the same way that Dan Pink who wrote an article about wikipedia found me. Lookin for NM wikipedians. At that time I was the only one. Carptrash 04:45, 9 April 2006 (UTC) PS I am always researching Parducci.
RE: Spoken Wikinews
Sounds Great! What you are describing, however, sounds more like the News Briefs rather than the Spoken articles. They're basically the same, however News Briefs puts a few of the most-recent articles together into one recording (see News Briefs). Spoken Wikinews hasn't been updated in a few months, and may be considered dormant. --Mrmiscellanious 20:17, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello from another U.S. politicians editor
Hello. I saw you on New Pages patrol when you created an article about a politicians. I also create a lot of articles on American politicians, as well as politicians from other countries, but there are so many of them, and it is great that you are helping with this project. By the way, I read your user page and I agree with your statement that Wikipedia is the future.
The main reason for this message is that many of your articles do not have enough redirects to them. What I mean is that some of the articles on the Congress sessions of the United States, and the Missing Encyclopedic Articles pages, have the full names of the politicians; their first name, middle name and last name. For example, Thomas Manson Norwood had some pages linking to it and should have redirected to Thomas M. Norwood. I fixed this, but this might be a lot of problem for some other articles. I'm going to go through your contributions to see if the full names of the politicians you wrote about have pages linking to them, but it would be great if you could help with this, and remember this problem in the future. Thanks. Academic Challenger 09:03, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Irish-born
Should Irish-born political figures that are in Irish-American politicians category be left in the Irish-American politicians category because some politician could be Irish born but be Scotch-Irish and not Irish-American? 75.3.4.54 19:10, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
But should Irish-American politician category still apply to those born in Ireland to seperate from Scottish who could have been born in Ireland? 75.3.4.54 03:54, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't think Scottish should be put into the Irish-American politican category and I think if people of Scottish ancestry are in the Irish-born category, than people Irish-born of Irish ancestry should also be put into the Irish-American politican category as a distinction of there ethnicity. 75.3.4.54 01:34, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- They should be in two categories, one to indicate where they were born and another to indicate their ethnicity. Also, may I suggest you sign up for a username? Paul 01:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
State judge categories
I think these are a good idea, but before you create any more I think it's better to name them as "X state judges," or perhaps even better, "X state court judges," to ensure that federal judges who happen to be based in that state are excluded. Always try to limit a category's entries by the title of the category rather than the description. Cheers, Postdlf 17:43, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
"American" is important in a worldwide encyclopedia
Hi, I like most of your edits on NH Govs, but I think it's pretty standard to denote that they are American politicians, since this is an international encyclopedia. Can we revert back to that, or do you have a reason for taking them out? Thanks. - Nhprman 03:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Spectacor Management Group
I noticed you added a wikify tag to Spectacor Management Group. I'm curious why; it seems to conform to the manual of style to me. Powers 11:03, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi there Paul. Lar is an admin (which gives him the right to update DYK using the suggestions at Template talk:Did you know). Portal
Thanks for the comments on my talk page. I'm open to making the portal focus just on the Federal government, with a separate one for state/local. But, given the reception so far on the Wikipedia:Portal/Proposals page, I'm not sure a portal on either will happen right now. I think I'll keep developing the idea though, and if this proposal fails, will likely re-propose it later. --Aude (talk | contribs) 21:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
FEMA Cleanup
Nice work cleaning up FEMA. That article is a mess because of all the action it's had and you've made it a wee bit better. --SeanO 10:38, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Applying the cleanup tag
You applied a {cleanup} tag to Administrative Review Board. But you didn't initiate a discussion on the talk page, explaining what about the article you felt should be cleaned up. Below I quote the text the cleanup tag expands to:
- To meet Wikipedia's quality standards, this article or section may require cleanup.
- Please discuss this issue on the talk page, or replace this tag with a more specific message. Editing help is available.
- This article has been tagged since May 2006.
Well, it seems to me that the person who applies a tag like cleanup, that directs readers to look to the talk page for a discussion, has an obligation to initiate that discussion. How can other people know your concerns have been satisfied if you don't state your concern? -- Geo Swan 19:41, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
What's wrong with categories?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but why are you removing New Hampshire Categories from their subjects? Category:People from New Hampshire and Category:Manchester, New Hampshire are POPULATED with articles and are entirely legitimate and useful. Please explain why they are "redundant," as your summaries note. And please do not simply remove all of the people from these categories without further discussion. - Nhprman 21:08, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Or ar you simply on a Jihad against categories in general? Care to explain what's wrong with THESE categories? [1] - Nhprman 21:34, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Great editing
Your recent edits of Robert A. Baines and elsewhere, taking out useless wikied dates and adding proper wiki links where ou saw it was appropriate, is a tremendous asset to the encyclopedia. Keep up the good work! - Nhprman 05:18, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for the note. While there may be other categories which apply to the city, it looks like you've already found the most imporant two. For examples of other categories to consider, you may want to browse through the subcategories of Category:Cities in the United States by state. Hope that answers your question. - EurekaLott 07:19, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
