Dunedin Public Libraries copy/paste
[edit] Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Dunedin Public Libraries. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. - Hi Paul - saw your note on XLerate's page. In these circumstances, the best thing to do is to add a note on the article's discussion page (in this case creating Talk:Dunedin Public Libraries) explaining that you as editor have used this material with permission. This confirms that the material is okay for Wikipedia's use and also indicates any potential areas which may need to be checked for things like conflict of interest or bias (see my comments at Talk:Carisbrook for a similar example). By the way, you may be interested in checking out the Wikipedia:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board sometime! Grutness...wha? 01:30, 1 May 2008 (UTC) (who worked at the DPL briefly, many years ago)
- Hi Paul, apologies for the copyright notice, as you say the material was put there with the DPL webmasters permission. The libraries website has a copyright link at the bottom of each page, which is why I thought it was used without permission. The page WP:COPYREQ also has some helpful advice on this topic. - Thanks Xlerate, no probs I will start adding text in again over the next few days - I really like the way you laid out the page etc, feel free to adjust my work :-) Paul151 (talk) 22:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
The article FsxNet has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Minor FidoNet-like network with no evidence of general notability; likely self-promotion of author's own work (regardless of whether for-profit or not).
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Closeapple (talk) 22:40, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of FsxNet
[edit]Hello Paul151,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged FsxNet for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
[edit]Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
