Re: Image:Portablesboardwalkmsad31.JPG Deletion

[edit]

Hi, you have recently deleted the image Portablesboardwalkmsad31.JPG, School outside msad31.JPG, and Viewofhallwaymsad31.jpg.JPG with no discussion. I was wondering the reason for this deletion, as I don't see a way for this image to be made "free". Can you please inform me on the reasoning for this deletion? Thanks. Patricksimpson21 (talk) 16:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You yourself put the deletion tag on the image when you uploaded it, that's why you didn't get any notification. You should have read the warning dialog that appeared in the "license" section. The buildings in the pictures seem to be still existing, so it's reasonable for someone to go and take a photo of them and release them under a free license. Thanks for the welcome, but I've been editing without a login for yonks. Finally signed up the other day in an effort to have more credibility with some of the elitist editors who think all casual editors are morons. See you around. Mdw0 (talk) 02:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kuljeric

[edit]

Hello Patman21: Thanks for the welcome. I actually have a number of questions. But, first to deal with the most pressing one. I am a part of an editing team working on the new website for Croatian composer Igor Kuljeric (www.imca.us/Artists/Kuljeric/home.htm). Croatian/American Maestro Zvonimir Hacko, a conductor of internatinal stature, is the General Editor of the site. He is an authority on the composer (he worked personally with Mr. Kuljeric before his death in 2006 and has performed a number of his works). This is going to be a professional, highly scholarly and industry-complient website. We felt that since little is published in the English-speaking world about Kuljeric, we would like to "donate" the biography page to Wikipedia and provide a link to our ongoing work. The question is: How do you deal with a situation like this: where you are making copyrighted material available to the general public through Widipedia. We are not worried about the edits, just wiki-compliance. Please advise. Thanks (Romulusmusicum (talk) 18:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

RE: Deletion of comments on Example

[edit]

Thanks for the comment, but I think users should try their new Twinkles or Huggles at themself or at the sandbox. User talk:Example is not meant to be a testing ground, and CesarB has clearly stated this at the top of the page. Actually, its only use is displaying a bunch of jokes, which is fine with me (I like jokes). The page is getting pretty long though, so I think I'll go a bit willy-nilly and remove the most insignificant comments, especially those warnings. Normally, you'd archive them, but I don't really see the point of that here. I would also like to see those unnused subpages go.
Yes, I would contact Cesar, but he isn't active a lot at WP anymore, and most likely doesn't care about this, so I think I'm gonna make a fool of myself and ask an admin at WP:AN ;-). Cheers, Face 20:25, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions regarding posting deletions

[edit]

Hello Patman21, Thanks for your reply to our postings on Wikipedia. At Wellsphere, we believe strongly in Wikipedia's mission and the incredible service that you provide in maintaining the credibility of Wikipedia content. In fact, we share the goal of providing credible, objective information to those who are looking for answers on a wide variety of topics. If you take a look at our website (www.wellsphere.com), you will see that there are no advertisements. The focus of Wellsphere is to connect people with the knowledge they need. We would like to support Wikipedia in any way that we can, and would like to ask your help and guidance so that we may support Wikipedia in the manner that you tell us is the best for Wikipedia's users. Wellsphere has assembled an unprecedented network of 1200 of the best health writers on the Internet. We have hundreds of thousands of articles from these writers who write about both common and obscure health and healthy living topics. Our health bloggers network consists of dedicated medical and healthy living experts from Stanford, Harvard, Yale and other large organizations writing for us. These writers are not paid and are purely voluntary - similar to Wikipedia's model. All our writers are carefully selected by us and individually approved by Dr. Geoffrey Rutledge MD, PhD, who was formerly on faculty at Stanford and Harvard medical schools.

For example, we have a preeminent neurosurgeon, a Medical Director of Neurosurgery at a prestigious institution, who writes articles for us on Chiari malformation. An example is this article about how another brain condition, Arachnoid Cysts, can masquerade as Chiari malformation:

http://www.wellsphere.com/chiari-malformation-article/arachnoid-cysts-chiari/21361

Here are a few more examples of the kind of articles that would support Wikipedia articles:

Prostate cancer screening: http://www.wellsphere.com/general-medicine-article/prostate-cancer-screening/30583

ADHD treatment: http://www.wellsphere.com/add-adhd-article/adhd-alternative-treatment:-lens-neurofeedback/258305

Current thinking on psychiatric therapy: http://www.wellsphere.com/mental-health-article/psychiatric-axioms-revisited/267778

Because we have so many such valuable articles on health and healthy living topics, we thought we might be able to support Wikipedia users who are looking for information on topics related to health. If you could suggest some possible ways to post information which you would find beneficial to Wikipedia, we would be happy to oblige. Would you like to see us posting links to articles such as these in the appropriate external links section, or should we instead consider reposting selected articles on the relevant topics? Feel free to suggest other options for how we might help. I look forward to hearing from you soon, Thanks!Melsit (talk) 01:17, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Msad31logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Image source problem with Image:072507 (1).JPG

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:072507 (1).JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:54, 7 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:54, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:072507 (1).JPG

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:072507 (1).JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 18:14, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Msad31logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Msad31logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
