A tag has been placed on your user page, User:PathwaysMelbourne, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --PathwaysMelbourne (talk) 03:53, 25 September 2024 (UTC) This page is about a non-profit organisation that provides support to vulnerable people. It is the same as to this organisation in New York https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footsteps_(organization)but it is based in Melbourne Australia. The page is about sharing vital information for people who are living in segregated communities and closed religious sects.[reply]

Please note that Wikipedia is not a place to tell the world about a worthy cause. Both for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations must meet Wikipedia's notability requirements to merit inclusion. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:03, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Hi I created a page today but it was rejected within the guidelines. I can see other pages that are similar to the one I created, so please give me feedback so i can make my page comply. Was the issue that I didn't have enough external links to verify the information externally? Thanks PathwaysMelbourne (talk) 05:05, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are several problems here. First, you edited your user page, which is not article space, but a place for the person operating the account to tell about themselves as a Wikipedia user. New accounts cannot directly create articles(the more accurate term for the content of the encyclopedia) and must use the Article Wizard to create and submit a draft..
Your username is that of your organization, this is not permitted by the username policy; your username must represent you as an individual, your real name is not required. The name of your organization can be a portion of your username, such as "JohnDoe of PathwaysMelbourne". If you tell me a new username you want to rename this account to, I can do so.
Regarding the draft itself, first see other stuff exists. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate content to get by us. We can only address what we know about. As a new user you would be unaware that an article might not be acceptable. This is why each article or draft is judged on its own merits and not based on the presence of other articles that themselves may not be appropriate. If you would like to help us, you can identify these other articles you have seen so action can be taken. We need the help. If you want to use other articles as a model or example, use those that are classified as good articles, which have indeed been vetted by the community.
Regarding your draft itself, Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves and what they do. That is considered promotional here. An article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Sources like interviews, press releases, the orgnanization website, and annoucements of activities do not establish notability- we are looking for significant coverage that goes into detail about what sources see as important/significant/influential about the organization. Please see Your First Article.
You will need to read conflict of interest and disclose your connection to this organization. If you are compensated in any manner by the organization for any purpose, the Terms of Use require you to make the stricter paid editing disclosure. 331dot (talk) 06:17, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
