User talk:Pat Comben
Hi Pat and welcome to Wikipedia, comrade. If you look here you will see that there is plenty of work for you to do. As well as here. Adam 04:30, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Adam,
I'm at a loss as to how to respond to you, I've tried everything that I could think of (including the novel idea of looking at the Help Page!!).
Any suggestions of some nice straight fprward potted biographical history of Queensland 's past pollies? Just for practice?
Pat
- You respond to me by clicking on my name as here > Adam 05:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
That will take you to my user page. You then click on the "discussion" link at the top of the page to go to my Talk page. You should sign all your comments with four tildes (~~~~), which will be read as your name and the date and time of your comment.
- Looking at the list of Labor Premiers (click the link I gave you earlier), I can see that Gillies, McCormark, Ryan, Hanlon and Cooper could all use some work. All the members of the Goss Cabinet could use articles. There is no article for Anne Warner or Nev Warburton or Molly Robson, for example. Or even Pat Comben. Ed Casey has an article, but not Percy Tucker, Tom Burns, Keith Wright or Jack Houston - no doubt you have a set of old Qld Parlt Handbooks to work from? Adam 05:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Adam Carr
[edit]Hey Pat, I moved your message for Adam from his user page to his talk page User talk:Adam Carr. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 08:02, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
User pages and Talk pages
[edit]Pat: every User has a User page, which is usually only edited by them. They also have a Talk page - this is your Talk page. When you want to leave someone a message, you go to their User page, then you click on the discussion tab at the top of the page, which will take you to their Talk page. Or you can type "User talk:Adam Carr" (or whoever) in the search window at the left of your screen and it will take you to my Talk page. Some Users, like Sarah (above), have provided a "Talk" link as part of their User name. If you click the Talk next to her name it will take you to her Talk page. I hope that's all clear. It's unfortunate that as Wikipedia has grown it has become steadily more complex, and thus more difficult for newcomers to learn their way around. I hope you persist. Adam 08:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Pat, to edit Adam's talk page, just click the "edit this page" tab at the top of the page. You can also click the little plus sign next to the edit this page tab. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:13, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, okay, I just discovered that Adam's page is semi-protected so new people can't edit it. He must have been having vandalism problems. I'll leave him a message asking him to check your talk page, so just leave any messages for him here. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:27, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Adam
[edit]Will do.
Pat Comben 09:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
I've unprotected his talk page so you should be right to leave him a message now. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:40, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
No worries, Pat. At least you know it wasn't because of anything you were doing. :) Please let me know if you ever need any help with anything. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:54, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Anne Warner
[edit]I have edited this article to conform to the Wikipedia format. If you just copy text from another source it will be deleted as a copyright violation. Please follow this pattern for name, birth date, place of birth, career, categories. Note wikification of place names etc (eg [[Lucknow]]). Hint: If you click "my watchlist" on your user or Talk pages you can follow who has been editing articles that you have been created or been editing. Adam 10:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Always happy to help. Wikipedia is both endlessly infuriating and totally addictive. You have been warned. Adam 10:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
"I can live with Sarah thinking that I'm a her!" Sorry! I'm not up with Queensland politics. :) Sarah Ewart (Talk) 10:26, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia
[edit]Hi Pat,
I'm pleased I could help with your article on the Anglican Diocese of Grafton. If there is anything at all I can help you with wikiwise just ask. You might remember some of my work from your time in politics. I used to host The Australian Politics Resource website back then. --Dave 10:01, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Michael Lavarch
[edit]Hi Pat, I added an article about Michael Lavarch recently. As you have a detailed knowledge of these guys you might like to improve it. --Dave 22:48, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Pat Comben! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 74 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Clem Campbell - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Paul Braddy - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
