Blackout
[edit]You can do so by adding the following to the top of the area to be blacked out:
<div style="background:#000000; border:4px solid #000000; width:95%; margin:0px auto 0px auto; padding:6px; font-size:.9em; {{round corners}}" id="mainframe"> {|style="background:none; border:0; width:100%;" cellpadding="2px" |- |<div style="background: #FFFFFF; border:4px solid #000000; padding:20px; margin:0px 0px 4px 0px; text-align:center; {{round corners}}"><center>{{User:Philosopher/Header}}</center></div>
and
|} </div>
to the bottom of the area to be blacked out. Be aware, however, that I will be restoring the old content of my User:Philosopher/Header shortly after the "official" blackout ends, so you may wish to subst: it. --Philosopher Let us reason together. via alternate account 12:49, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea, unfortunately I have no idea how to do that... Pascal (talk) 12:53, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- The Subst:? Or the placement? You can subst: a template by adding "subst:" before it. Compare {{User:Philosopher/Header}} and {{subst:User:Philosopher/Header}}. No visual difference - it's just that if you subst: something, it throws the code from the template onto the page and clutters the page's code somewhat and that updates to the template won't be reflected on the page that subst'ed it. --Philosopher Let us reason together. via alternate account 13:01, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
- There are two caveats, I suppose - 1) the colors from other templates/images/links will show through, if they aren't removed from the page and 2) the box will only appear as long vertically as there is text, though I think line breaks (<br> or ↵ Enter) would work for that purpose. --Philosopher Let us reason together. via alternate account 13:07, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Invitation to the April Wikification Drive
[edit]Hi there! I thought you might be interested in WikiProject Wikify's April Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive. We'll be trying to reduce the backlog size by over 1,300 articles and we need your help! Hard-working participants in the drive will receive awards for their contributions, including a brand new one for the single largest wikified article! All you have to do is put an asterisk next to the largest article you've wikified, and coordinators will check its wordcount after the drive ends. If you have a spare moment, please join and wikify an article or tell your friends. Thanks! Note: The drive started April 1, and you can sign up anytime! |

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Pascal yuiop,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
