File source problem with File:Brodess.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Brodess.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:16, 28 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:16, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of E. E. Ramey
[edit]An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is E. E. Ramey. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/E. E. Ramey. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Better source request for File:WW Culbertson.jpg
[edit]Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:21, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of W. W. Patterson
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on W. W. Patterson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://books.google.com/books?id=qPsTAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA932&lpg=PA932&dq=%22William+Worth+Patterson%22+-wikipedia&source=bl&ots=GhdNQEAXXi&sig=cBrLfZiULRr5-et_ntH2SWZ6iMg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwia-8i2n9LbAhWOzlkKHfawD1MQ6AEIMjAC#v=onepage&q=%22William%20Worth%20Patterson%22%20-wikipedia&f=false. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Rusf10 (talk) 03:51, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

Deletion
[edit]Before your contributions are deleted you can migrate relevant data to Wikidata. Here is an example of the formatted data: William Wirt Culbertson. Once deleted it is gone forever. --RAN (talk) 21:44, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
- Well, yes, but you really shouldn't unless you have sources. Parodist, I think you should read what is being said about RAN in the thread at WP:AN before taking his advice. See how that thread closes and then accept/reject accordingly. - Sitush (talk) 14:50, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
A history of Ashland, Kentucky, 1786–1954
[edit]If you have scans of the biographies you can add them to Wikimedia Commons. They were published in 1954 and for the copyright to be extended they would have had to have filed a copyright renewal notice, and they never did. Most small publishers did not foresee an aftermarket for their products that would have made it worth the expense. --RAN (talk) 21:55, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ):How do you know it hasn't been renewed? Given your track record, you'd be the last person I'd take advice from on copyright issues.--Rusf10 (talk) 03:14, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- You cannot prove a negative, but if you can find the renewal notice in the copyright office database, you will have proved me wrong. --RAN (talk) 03:23, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- The burden of proof is on you. You cannot just assume that a copyright has not been renewed.--Rusf10 (talk) 03:43, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- BTW, I'm sure the US copyright office has records on the last time this book's copyright was renewed, if you really wanted to find out. It's eithier under copyright or not, either way there is a record. So in this case you can actually prove a negative.--Rusf10 (talk) 03:56, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- I tend to agree. I've been rather concerned at RAN's assumptions regarding copyright renewal, which exist all over this place. There must be some way to verify, surely? - Sitush (talk) 14:45, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- A work originally copyrighted in 1954 would have had to be renewed 28 years later in 1982 and that renewal would be recorded in the copyright office's online database [1] containing copyright information for 1978 onward. A good faith statement that one has searched the online database for a renewal for any work published since 1950 should suffice, and be required, in my opinion before including such material as public domain. For works originally copyrighted before 1950, such renewals are not online and pose more problems to verify. 24.151.50.175 (talk) 15:19, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

- The burden of proof is on you. You cannot just assume that a copyright has not been renewed.--Rusf10 (talk) 03:43, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- You cannot prove a negative, but if you can find the renewal notice in the copyright office database, you will have proved me wrong. --RAN (talk) 03:23, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

The article Pollard Baptist Church has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
not notable, does not pass WP:GNG
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rusf10 (talk) 01:57, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
