Disambiguation pages
Hello, Pariah24. When you redirected Military order to a new disambiguation page, you may have overlooked the fact that several hundred other articles contain links to "Military order" or "Military orders" that now need to be fixed to point to the correct article. When you create new disambiguation pages, please fix all incoming links to titles affected by the changes you made, as suggested at WP:FIXDABLINKS. Thank you. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 09:26, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- @R'n'B: I understand. For some reason all the links weren't showing right after I did the edits. I will get to work setting that to rights. I realize it's counterproductive for these links to get redirected to the dab page.
- @R'n'B: Whew...got all I could find, minus some archive and user pages...thanks for the heads up Pariah24 (talk) 15:45, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Decline reason: You will need to give a much more specific reason why you should edit Wikipedia from a VPN than just a vague "keep Google and other companies from tracking me". Maybe there is some good reason why you don't want Google to track your activity on Wikipedia, but that reason will have to be good enough to outweigh the fact that it would prevent your activity on Wikipedia from being scrutinised on Wikipedia, if and when necessary. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:28, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- @JamesBWatson: Maybe I'm ignorant on this subject, if so I apologize, but how exactly does granting an editor an IP exemption only while he is logged in prevent his actions from being scrutinized? Seems like everything I do would still be easily attributable to me if I'm doing it on my account. I completely understand and support this policy for unregistered users. Don't get what the danger in my case. :/ Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 23:34, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
I use a private VPN to protect my privacy and keep Google and other companies from tracking me. I pay for the service; the servers are private and I don't believe they offer any free/open/trial servers. The IP addresses for the servers closest to my location are blocked and this is a pretty big inconvenience to me. I have to either use other overseas servers to edit, or edit on my local IP, which I dislike using at all. Don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to use these IP addresses as long as I'm logged in.
- @Jéské Couriano: Not sure if I did this correctly, but there we go. I thought this is the process for requesting an IP block exemption...or is there another process? --Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 01:35, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- In order to grant the exemption, they need the IP. As an aside, since you've managed to edit your user page since this last post, I am going to assume that it would be declined as moot. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 03:56, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- I listed the IP I was blocked from in the template above. I don't think I would consider it moot; VPNs are very good things to have in this day and age. Yes, I can edit from my local IP address, so I'm not totally blocked from editing, but that defeats the purpose of having a VPN. The idea is to avoid using my local IP altogether, to safeguard against companies tracking me and my ISP monitoring my traffic. I'm sure there's plenty of editors out there with similar ideas. My guess is that someone spammed/vandalized/etc through an open proxy using some of the same servers that my VPN company uses. But I don't use proxies. I don't think it's very fair that legitimate editors should be penalized because of the actions of others simply because they are on the same IP address range. Because of that I have to set up my connection differently from all my other internet activity just to edit Wikipedia. Kinda sucks. Like I said, if I'm logged into my Wikipedia account my actions are easily identifiable, and it shouldn't matter what IP I use. It's not the end of the world; it would just make my editing experience less of a hassle, more enjoyable, and keep my connection secure. Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 08:16, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- No, anonymising services are also blocked on discovery for the simple fact that a large chunk of their users exploit the anonymity to vandalise Wikipedia relentlessly and without consequence to themselves, especially long-term vandals such as JarlaxleArtemis. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 23:41, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Jéské Couriano: Well looks like I was declined anyway. I understand why the policy exists for people editing without accounts, but not why it is forced on people who are logged in. If I am editing from my account I am not anonymous. My IP address should be irrelevant as I can be blocked/banned from my account. Sigh. Just seems a little draconian to me. I fail to see how allowing legit logged in users to use whatever IP they want is detrimental to the fight against vandalism. I wish someone could explain that to me. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Subjunctive mood may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hello, I'm JohnBlackburne. I noticed that you recently removed some content from List of screw drives without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. AFC
Hi, and thanks for helping us end our backlog but with only 495 mainspace edits you need a just a bit more mainspace edits to start reviewing AFC submissions. KGirlTrucker81 huh? what I'm been doing 14:21, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
- @KGirlTrucker81: Yes well I already started helping an article creator with Draft:SNAPPs (structurally nanoengineered antimicrobial polypeptide polymers) and marked it as in progress, but there's a lot of work to be done so I'm sure I'll have enough edits when the time comes that I need to use the script helper Pariah24 ‖ ☏ 16:14, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Recent Eichenwald edit
Hi, Pariah24. I have considered your recent reversion of my edit to the page of Kurt Eichenwald as a good faith edit. Unfortunately, his death has been verified by numerous news stations including the Dallas Observer. If you would like to grammatically change the post to better suit the story, that is OK. However, I ask that you do not revert the edit again. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.156.172.142 (talk) 01:54, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

- You may WP:Twinkle to quickly add talkback messages. --Tito Dutta (talk) 18:10, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I use Twinkle quite a bit but I never noticed that feature. I tend to use {{ping}} myself because I prefer notifications, but if I'm having an extended conversation with someone I'll usually just follow whatever method they use. I'll go ahead and make sure I've read through all the pages you mentioned. Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 18:59, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks, I appreciate the input, but I already moved that to article space a while back, it's just been edited some since then. Really it isn't a draft, I need to move it somewhere else. Thanks! Pariah24 ┃ ☏ 05:46, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help
Hi Pariah24/Archives/2017,
As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).
Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.
Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.
It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.
