New article

[edit]

I have taken the opportunity to clean up your new article. Please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and the material in any article must adhere to the guidelines and policies outlined in the welcome message above. Specifically, Wikipedia is not intended to spread the word about the Maharshi's philosophy or teachings. A link to a website would suffice to allow interested readers to learn more about the subject's teachings. The material at Wikipedia should stick to the basic facts about the man's life. Also, citations are needed to verify the content of the articles. Especially in the case of living people, articles without citations are more likely to be deleted. This series of edits involved copying material directly from this site and this site. As such, they constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. Please do not submit copyrighted material to Wikipedia.

Also, please keep in mind that Wikipedia is a global resource; people who are not already familiar with Ramanananda are likely to know what most of the esoteric mystical terms mean. If you can't provide definitions of these terms, please don't use them in the English Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:11, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ramanananda Maharshi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable and unsourced BLP.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PDCook (talk) 15:32, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

December 2009

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Ramanananda Maharshi. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. A tag has been placed on File:Ramanananda Maharshi.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 03:08, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dont delete image. I took permission from Swamiji himself to reproduce the image. Paramagurusai (talk) 03:38, 3 January 2010 (UTC)paramagurusai[reply]
Please examine WP:PERMISSION and reply at the talk page of that image, not here. Materialscientist (talk) 03:51, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Ramanananda Maharshi, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ramanananda Maharshi. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. -SpacemanSpiff 03:21, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure why these references are not enough..In the sai newsletter there is a review of book as well....

Also The blog paramagurusai.blogspot.com is not related to the Shirdi Sai Anugraha Peetam. You can verify the authenticity.

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 03:36, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An edit you made to the Ramanananda Maharshi article appears to be unconstructive and I have reverted it. Regards, PDCook (talk) 04:59, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

[edit]

When you added references to the Ramanananda Maharshi article, you wrote on the talk page: "Hope this satisfies the rules of wikipedia". Unfortunately, they do not. Please review the guidelines at WP:Reliable sources to understand the difference between reliable sources and primary sources. The references you added were all from blogs of the subject's devotees, or the subject's own blog, or advertisements for his books, etc. This does not denote notability. References from independent sources (i.e. publications that have nothing to do with the subject and nothing to gain from writing about him) are required. Since other editors and myself cannot find any such sources, the article has been nominated for deletion. If you cannot improve the quality of the references at the page, I fear that the discussion will almost certainly agree on deletion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:34, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your insights. Well after seeing the rules I have to agree on Delete as well. Even though it is my article, I have to follow what wikipedia stands for. My only other question is can I adjust the article to just keep the biography and remove everything else (including image) in the page because that does not have any claims? and would the provided references work for atleast that? Else please go ahead and delete entire article. Thanks Again. Paramagurusai (talk) 22:29, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
