Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living person, but that you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 22:53, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, and thank you for your recent contributions. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit(s). In particular, something potentially negative or defamatory about a living person needs a reliable source Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! [edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Randolph Mantooth. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators can block users from editing if they repeatedly vandalize. Thank you. In particular, constantly changing the birth date of a a living person needs a verifiable reliable source, which you have not provided. Consensus has been reached for 1945, with discussion on the subject's talk page. Please feel free to discuss your objections there, and be able to provide proof for your argument. Otherwise, please do not continue to vandalize this page. It shows a total disrespect for the subject. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 23:32, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Regarding your last edit - you say "Consensus is not proof". Yet you provide no proof yourself? You are asked again to please discuss on the subject's talk page, like an adult, if you feel there is an error. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 02:44, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Do you have an email address where I can send you my proof?
- I'm sorry, sending me proof will not do any good. I am just another editor such as yourself.
Short of a verifiable public record, it would have to be a link to maybe an interview with the subject where he states 1950. Look, your interest in this subject is obvious, as is mine. And I am sure we want the same thing, an accurate and respectable article for this much deserved actor. Edit warring will not help things at all. Please do discuss your objections on his talk page so there is a record of a differing opinion. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 03:40, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- For future reference, please see Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources that is a guideline that discusses the reliability of various types of sources. The policy on sourcing is Wikipedia:Verifiability, which requires inline citations for any material challenged or likely to be challenged, and for all quotations. The policy is strictly applied to all material in the mainspace—articles, lists, and sections of articles—without exception, and in particular to biographies of living persons, which states: Contentious material about living persons (or recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 17:35, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
