User talk:PandaJohnson
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:PandaJohnson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Drm310 (talk) 04:19, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Your username and conflict of interest
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "PandaJohnson", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. -- Diannaa (talk) 14:59, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- Please note it represent the character in the book, as stated this is to represent these characters as do so many of your pages, quite clearly allowable and not a conflict of interests at all. That would only be the case if I provided reviews. Which I don't.
- The author name is p Johnson so as much as it pains me it could be changed to that but no more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.28.138 (talk) 15:04, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
- @86.175.28.138: For the moment, I will assume that you are the same person as the user PandaJohnson, and just didn't log in when you left your comments.
- It may be a fictional character, but it's also a product for sale. From what I remember of the userpage content you posted, there were links to websites about this book. The purpose of these sites was to promote sales of the book, so the links on the page were meant to drive web traffic to those sites.
- A userpage is not an encyclopedia article, and should not be written like one. The purpose of a userpage is to introduce you, the editor, to the Wikipedia community. You can include a small amount of biographical information, as well as your interests and Wikimedia-related activities.
- If you are the author, publisher or someone else who works for them in any capacity, please know that Wikipedia is not for promotion or publicity of any kind. If you are being paid to market this product, you must disclose this information per Wikipedia's terms of use. You should also review Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
- If you are simply a fan of this book, please note that Wikipedia isn't a place for fan pages. User pages shouldn't have substantial content that is unrelated to Wikipedia.
- Given all that, you should consider disclosing whether you are affiliated with the book or simply a fan. Your answer may impact the decision about your username. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 20:46, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
You know what this is ridiculous, wiki claims to be open to all yet it is not. You cannot provide information without links to show that information is correct yet the majority of information I see is so distorted its ridiculous. If the site was not so unfriendly to users then it would not be a problem. Having written html I can honestly say that is easier to use than the site, delete the page it's not worth the hassle.
I thought, really thought this site was a free unstricted place for one and all. More rules than you can shake the invisible stick at. Wiki is meant to be a place to provide information, that's what the page was. Please do not try and goad me by saying you don't know who I am, it is clear that is the same for you. Another faceless internet bod. Delete the page and do not reply.
Wikis conflict of interest guide does not make it a conflict of interest.
I think you can guess by my answer What you can do with my username and page... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.28.138 (talk) 21:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
