You've done a good job of evaluating this article, giving attention to each of the criteria that Wikipedia gives for consideration. I'm especially impressed by attention to equity. I'm actually really surprised that ceili dancing was merged with this article -- that suggests a significant misunderstanding of the word "ceilidh," IMHO. A ceilidh is a visit, pure and simple. Over time, it's come to mean a party or a dance -- but in all cases, it refers to an event. In Ireland, ceili dancing is certainly a thing, but that is an entirely different understanding of the word "ceili." In that sense, "ceili" refers to an event, but one that is tied to a particular type of dancing. FWIW, there's an equivalent in Scotland: there's ceilidh dancing and it happens at "ceilidhs" (dance events where this particular kind of dancing is performed). I think it would be better to have a "disambiguation" between the terms than to merge them. I see that this merger happened pretty recently, so there's still an opportunity to argue against it. But that's just my opinion! I think the sources for Irish ceili dancing look pretty good but there's a definitely lack of scholarly sources on the Scottish ceilidh. Having said that, I'm not sure what sources will be useful. Maybe Newton? You could also look at John Shaw's book, Brìgh an Òrain as I think he talks about the traditional ceilidh in the book's intro. CBFraoch (talk) 21:57, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
