I read the Cochlea section and the information given is not the opinion of the scientific community. Maybe you confound IHC and OHCs. OHCs have two putative amplification mechanisms, cilial contraction and prestin mediated cell body contraction. OHCs are thougt to amplify the signals of the tectorial membrane which are recognised by the sensory IHC which have afferent wiring. Thank you for your article.
