[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

- Can you clarify your relationship to Phil Baran? Is that you? Do you work for him? --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 02:15, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I work for Scripps Research in his lab, yes! Baranlab (talk) 17:14, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- In that case, you need to follow the steps to disclose the fact you are being paid to edit. You should also follow this advice page on editing with a conflict of interest. @Elli: would you be able to take care of the rename? HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 17:49, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- What he said ^. I believe both of us are willing to unblock if you agree to disclose that you are being paid to edit and that you will abide by the conflict of interest guidelines. Looks the rename has been done, so that's out of the way. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 23:58, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Okay! thanks! I will abide by the COI guidelines; I understand that it is strongly discouraged from a community objectivity standpoint-- however my goal is to only add factual, credible (i.e. can be cited) information.
- I think I did the disclosure correctly, does that work? PChem1991 (talk) 03:48, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- It does indeed. I've lifted the block. Happy editing! --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 04:37, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, it's not quite right, but you exactly followed the directions on the linked policy, so we definitely can't fault you for that. Those instructions are for disclosing on an article talk page. What you actually want to do is documented at WP:PCD: you should add the
{{paid|employer=Scripps Research}}
template to your user page. --Chris | Crazycomputers (talk) 04:40, 14 November 2024 (UTC)- oops! sorry-- I think I corrected it now. Does my current user page look right? PChem1991 (talk) 09:39, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
