I hope the lead sentence is not so offensive - it was not my intention to become involved in the cheese sandwich debate.

I was pleased that you mentioned the 'tradition' of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches! jmcw (talk) 15:04, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's good to see someone doing in-depth research. You'll find some information on the article's talk page. The Other Hand (talk) 17:56, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rarebit versus Rabbit: The Name Debate (DRAFT)

[edit]

Nicely researched and ( thank goodness! ) humorously presented. It has been far too serious at the rarebit page. jmcw (talk) 08:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I read your draft - good thorough stuff, you should perhaps post it now and polish up later as necessary. The bit about Webster doesn't quite make it clear that rarebit is the term objected to. Too bad you didn't uncover a decisive origin for rarebit, but then again the mystery is part of the appeal.
People will look up the article for different reasons. It would be good to have a couple of modern recipes?
This isn't really my area of interest. I started on Wikipedia with the idea of posting some of my photos, of which cheese on toast was the first. It quickly became apparent that you have to edit as well as illustrate articles, which is how I got involved in this. I did feel inspired to make a Guinness/cheap cheddar/English mustard version yesterday: tasty and popular, but the cheese didn't exactly blend in. Maybe I used too much beer. I was going to take a photograph but the result was way too brown.
Cheese on toast is left as a poor relation with little content, although I think it does deserve a separate article. Maybe your researches may overflow into that article at some point.ProfDEH (talk) 13:17, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note to encourage you to share the results of your researches. Remember the guidelines - it doesn't have to be perfect. ProfDEH (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
