I have constructed an article about Donald Snygg. Since I am his son, my work is not totally unbiased. What are the procedures needed to make it qualified to be posted properly? Oswegotownie (talk) 16:29, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just for the record, please note that you cannot just add any text string you want inside a category declaration and call the page "categorized" — you need to either find and use a category that actually exists on Wikipedia, or leave the uncategorized tag on the article until somebody else in the categorization project deals with it for you. A bot replaced the word "median" with the word "mean". These are not the same and the reference material in the article uses the word "median". Imagine a community where 100 households have an annual income of $25,000, 100 have an income of $35,000, and 2 have an income of $9,120,000. The mean (average) income is $120,000. If I look at that number, I might be inclined to open a yarn shop in this community ... there seems to be enough people with a little extra income, they would have time for a hobby like knitting. The truth is that 200 households are struggling and 2 don't shop locally. The median income ($35,000) is much more instructive as to the economic state of the community.
