Thanks for uploading Image:Ghost Ship Cover Art12.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 17:29, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Dear Ostrich11,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that for security reasons, VandalProof's creator requires it's users to have made 250 edits to articles, which you have not. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen 06:10, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ghost_Ship_Cover_Art1.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

License tagging for Image:SS Mariposa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SS Mariposa.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:09, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

malfunction

[edit]

Your bot is obviously malfunctioning--Ostrich11 19:59, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How so? --Carnildo 21:32, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
the thing is tagging for deletion a perfectly good image that had all the nececary copywrite information
Which image? --Carnildo 23:20, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The image was correctly flagged as not having a copyright tag. If the image meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, then the correct tag would be one of the fair use tags, probably either {{tv-screenshot}} or {{movie-screenshot}}. --Carnildo 23:38, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Memory Alpha

[edit]

Froom the Memory Alpha article:

The contents of Memory Alpha are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial license. Because this license does not allow commercial reuse, it is incompatible with the GFDL, and material from the site cannot be copied into projects that use the GFDL. This distinction makes Memory Alpha a "sister project" of the GFDL-based Wikia which are hosted by Wikia, Inc.

Titan

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you created the USS Titan (NCC-80102) article recently, but probably unbeknownst to you, there is already a Star Trek: Titan article that has a USS Titan section. There was already a previous article dedicated solely to the USS Titan, but the editors elected to merge it into the Star Trek: Titan article. I fear your recently created article will be deleted in the near future, however I welcome you to come edit st Star Trek: Titan, as it's always in need of some more improvement. WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Curious edit

[edit]

Hi - I've reverted this edit. Users in this list are already admins. Looking at your edit history, perhaps you are preparing to nominate yourself at WP:RFA. You are of course free to do so, although based on a quick look at your edit history I suspect there's essentially no chance you'd succeed (you'd need lots more experience). -- Rick Block (talk) 02:41, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An exciting opportunity to get involved!

[edit]

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 03:39, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
