Original Psychonana (talk) 12:53, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi there, Original Psychonana, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'd suggest you read our page on Your first article, which contains the informaiton you're looking for. Please do note, however, our guidelines on Conflicts of Interest and Paid editors, since I noticed your sandbox has been nominated for deletion due to promotional content. -- Thanks, Alfie. talk to me | contribs 13:29, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Original Psychonana/sandbox/Mantra - Sounds into Silence, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of https://gathr.us/films/mantra. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Chrissymad - So does Wiki have any criteria for trigger happy ****** who delete a tagged page without even reviewing it or considering that it may be being worked on... like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jimfbleak

[edit]Please note that Chrissymad is unlikely to see the message above, and also read WP:Civil. Thank you for the link to the other articles. I agree that the Mantra (2016) article is substandard, and I've nominated it for a deletion discussion. You could do the the same with the Saving Private Ryan article if you wish, but since it's a WP:Good Article, good luck with that!
I deleted your article because
- The article and the image were copyright violations of this page. Copyrighted text and images are not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. The copied site was marked © 2018 GATHR Films® - All rights reserved. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial but there is no indication that the copied site allows free use. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. But in any case the copyrighted text is far too promotional to be useful for Wikipedia's purposes, so there would not be any point in your jumping through all the hoops that are required.
- it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the production company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management. You gave no references of any kind. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
- There are no facts to show why an unreleased film meets the notability criteria I've linked above
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: It focusses on the everyday people who are finding healing and a sense of inner peace by singing mantras together with others just like them, but it also features the artists and musicians who are the focus of this new music-based movement. It can be considered a film about spirituality and not about religion and how people are reconnecting with their true selves and finding meaning in their lives...we also learn how it transformed their lives... and so on, unsourced opinions and promo, with added bolding of associated people in case we miss anything
- I'm not trying to Promote our film in any manner. I just want t to have a wiki presence— the two parts of that sentence contradict each other, if you don't want to promote it, don't post it here. More to the point, our film means that you have a conflict of interest when editing this article, and you must declare it. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your film is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also guidance for editors with conflicts of interest.
- If you work directly or indirectly for the film production company, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. Regardless, if you are work for or are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Original Psychonana. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Original Psychonana|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.
We often restore deleted text on request, but for legal reasons we don't do so for copyright violations. In any case, there was little factual content in your draft, so better to start from scratch.
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also respond to the COI request above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:09, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- One point I missed: Or do you prefer to be just destructive! I've written around 60 WP:FAs, none of which were attempting to sell everything. Having said that, it's true that spend a fair bit of time deleting vandalism, spam and copyright violations. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:19, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- The words we are accused of copyright infringements are ours... supplied to partners to best describe this entity. We will proceed change them to other words to satisfy your requirements . Note that you don't WP:Own any article that might in future be written on this topic, anyone can make valid referenced edits. And that sentence confirms the COI and copyright violation Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:32, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]For one GATHR Films is this film's distributer. I supplied the film description to them as I have a contract with them as distributer! If you had bothered to look you may have seen that I rewrote the texts so they were compliant. And I would have continued to do so until the nuances of the wiki world were addressed! And I would have continued until all of the other concerns, which obviously you only just now took the time to discover, would have been addressed. If only YOU had the civility to offer me the time to do so - or perhaps advise more than cut and paste links!!! - and THIS is my issue and frustration with your actions.
I was happy to do so, you would have seen this if you had reviewed the article and issues properly, and you would have seen a sequence of up to 14 changes I had just made and was continuing to make, if you had reviewed the article properly! I even wrote as much in the "Contest the Nomination" tag which Chrissymad so helpfully informed me about... but you didn't bother to read that either. Ask yourself how useful you really are to this community. It seems it can manage very well policing it's content, without you slapping back new users with impunity as they genuinely try to work within the system! The article was in a sandbox too!!! It wasn't going anywhere until it was right!
Furthermore it's clear to me from your enthusiastic reply here that you likely will use your "power" to make it impossible for me to ever create a Wiki about this film.
Maybe you have been policing Wikipedia too long and you patience is over-challenged!
Original Psychonana (talk) 16:12, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- Please note that it's only chance that I returned to this page. If you want to reply to me, you can do so on my talk page. You can alternatively leave a message on this page, and I will know you have done so if you start it with my user name, User:Jimfbleak and sign it with four tildes ~~~~ when you post it. That will send me an alert.
- I realise that GATHR is the distributor and, as I said, they have reserved the copyright, so the text and images can't be used here. If they want to make their site public domain, they need to change the notice to say that. If you don't think they have the right to copyright the text and images, that's a matter for you to sort out with them, not our problem. You can't just post copyright text and images here and then change them, you need to write your text off-line first. In any case, the text is far too promotional. Although sandboxes have a degree of latitude with respect to formatting and referencing, they cannot be used to host copyright violations or spam, as you chose to do. Furthermore, whatever you think of my actions, I have no financial interest in anything I write about, whereas you are using Wikipedia to try to promote your own film.
- make it impossible for me to ever create a Wiki about this film.— not strictly true, although I thought you didn't want to promote it anyway? If you posted the paid editor notice I indicated above, you could try again, but it's often difficult for authors with a financial interest to write in the neutral tone we require. In any case, you will need to show how your film meets the notability criteria I linked above, could be tricky when it's not actually released; at best WP:Too soon.

[edit]You might acknowledge that a future release date for a film does not necessarily mean it does not exist! Furthermore you should know that this film has been premiered last year in several film festivals 2 of which it won! It is hardly still in production! And If I had the chance I would have referenced all of this information.
Also your argument on WP:Too soon is ridiculous! FYI: These are the first 3 March 2018 film releases i could find i¡on IMDB: Just like our film, that you are so happy to obstruct!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Wrinkle_in_Time_(2018_film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Wish_(2018_film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Sparrow
Furthermore regarding copyright, what are we supposed to do, ask the distributer to draft the wiki? Wouldn't that also be COI! How do all these films add their original poster images? And if its not them why aren't every one of them tagged as a copyright infringement!!!
You are being unreasonably harsh - I just want to put this film information on Wikipedia... like every other film has the opportunity to. Not jump through hoops for you!
Original Psychonana (talk) 17:37, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- What you are supposed to do is post a request as suggested for someone to write a neutral article, someone whose is not making money out of it. You can't WP:Own a page here, it's our article about the film, not your free advertising slot. As for non-free images, see File:The_Silence_of_the_Lambs_poster.jpg Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:20, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for declaring your COI. I've seen and copy edited the latest draft and it meets most of our criteria now, although it needs more references. I'll leave you to sort that out with the AfD reviewer Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:47, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Your first upload was to Commons, where it was deleted as a copyright violation by a Commons admin. It's not permitted for legal reasons to upload fair-use rationale images to Commons anyway. Are you sure that you tried at the en-wiki upload here, and not at Commons again? If you definitely tried there and it failed, I have no idea why, ask at Wikipedia:Help desk, someone there will know what to do Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:50, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Jimfbleak No, I was trying to use the add image tool directly in the article. Ok, so now I was able to add the image, and feed it to the film article... But am confused on how to link the image to the article in the (image)Summary... its currently showing a warning? I assume its because of the draft page.

- EDIT.... I just figured it out... assume this needs to be updated if the article goes live. Original Psychonana (talk) 15:13, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I'd forgotten that it can only be used in live articles, I rarely use FU images myself Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:54, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:MantraSIS PosterWebversion.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:MantraSIS PosterWebversion.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:52, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- Jimfbleak What is best practice in this case... would I just let it be deleted and then if the draft article is ever approved re-submit it under the same license concept? I understand the deletion in respect to its being an orphaned image, but I have no clue how to respond to the note that it is unlicensed for wikipedia to use? There is an instruction on the image page that indicates I can contest. What course of action would you advise. Original Psychonana (talk) 11:50, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- The "unlicensed for Wikipedia" is clear. Unless the copyright holder verifiably allowed the image to be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial, by making it public domain or Wikipedia usable, it can't be used here without infringing copyright. That's clearly not going to happen. However, the US, where our en-wiki servers are based has a "Fair use" provision ⋅which you used to permit its use. The tagging by the bot is automatic, and the image can't be reinstated under fair use until the relevant article (not a draft) exists again.
- You have no grounds for contesting deletion since it's an orphaned copyright image with only a fair use rationale. You should be able to re-upload when an article exists again. If you have any further queries, admin B is the bot's operator Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:52, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- Jimfbleak OK thanks, appreciate you taking the time to explain. Original Psychonana (talk) 11:57, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
