Clarence Carson & The Freeman
[edit]- Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article The Freeman, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Here is a source you can use: [1]. Also Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks!
- So, for the Freeman edit, you would consult WP:CTT for a citation template and then say something like "Add Clarence Carson with reference" in your edit summary. For other edits, you might say "tweak grammar" "spelling" etc. See WP:G for abbreviations that can be used in talk pages, edit summaries. --S. Rich (talk) 19:52, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! Oolyons (talk) 21:21, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- Restored reference, now with citation, and opened "Talk" on issue, with cite and link. Oolyons (talk) 21:50, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- Part of the Wikipedia magic is the ability to provide wikilinks and external links. I've tweaked the reference you provided so that readers can go to the particular reference. There is no need to bring up the topic on the talk page as the Freeman obit piece gives enough documentation to make the source and significance of Carson worthwhile. Now if some other editor came by and deleted your mention of him as a contributor, then we'd go into the WP:BRD process on the talk page to discuss whether Carson should be mentioned in the article. On a related subject, if you had done a wililink on Clarence Carson, there might be an issue as to whether he is WP:N. The redlink implies that he is worthy of a WP article. That might be controversial. In such cases (e.g., controversy) we work towards WP:Consensus to decide the final edit on the issue.--S. Rich (talk) 23:29, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, once more! Oolyons (talk) 18:45, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

- Oolyons, take a look at WP:PROF for more guidance. The fact that he's been a department head is enough to establish notability. But the references supporting this need improvement. Your contributions, past and yet to come, are appreciated. --S. Rich (talk) 17:48, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
