My Username

[edit]

My Username is not random letters! It's the first letter on the keyboard, then the last, then the one after first, then the one before last, then the on 2 after first, then the one 2 before last, then the one 3 after first etc. ending at z. I repeat, my name is not a string of random letters!!!! I'm a little upset you put it on WP:RFC/N. Qmwnebrvtcyxuz 15:38, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but to the naked eye, it's hard to tell that. It appears to be a random sequence which is one of the points of the policy. Metros232 15:39, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my dear blocker, I want you to tell me a reason for deleting all my "canvasing" after you warned me and even after you blocked me. That's just not fair, if you finished blocking me, evidence shouldn't have been removed from talkpages.! (The same as a real life trial)--Walter Humala - King one! 23:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's canvassing plain and simple. THAT'S why it was removed. Not some evidence coer-up. The evidence is still in all those histories and all your contributions. Metros232 23:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cumberland talk page

[edit]

I see that you keep deleting some discussions from the Cumberland talk page. Can I ask why? I read over the comments and I didn't read anything that was a personal attack or a rant. It seemed to me that the user was just expressing some frustation with the admins. Is that against the rules? I won't restore it back if you say so, but I would like so clarification about where the line is drawn between expressing frustration and attacking someone. Thanks. Lasersnake 19:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, nevermind, I just looked at your talk page's history and saw all of the vandalism. The user seems to just be looking for some forum to attack you, sorry it had to be the Cumberland page. Lasersnake 19:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My apologizes that I didn't catch the vandalism quicker. I have that page on my watchlist and it slipped by me. I will keep a better eye on things from now on. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 19:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Railpage Australia

[edit]

Thankyou for the protection you have added to the Railpage Australia article. As this article is pretty clearly the subject of vandalism at this time (as cited on the talk page) and being used as part of a campaign to discredit one or more people, is it possible to revert the article to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Railpage_Australia&oldid=98398526, as that version is the most accurate to-date? I'm just concerned that keeping it protected in its current state seems to encourage the minority that are causing trouble, and unfortunately will never lead to consensus. I appreciate the ideals Wikipedia holds with regard to free and uncensored information, however given the nature of the content in dispute, I feel that it is a far safer alternative to remove the content until a consensus is reached. 203.28.90.133 14:32, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the Railpage article should not be an one sided self promotional piece.

There is no attempt to discredit one person. The controversy is about one individual who is a lead developer of Railpage and his fittness to continue as a moderator, which in turn affects Railpages credibility. Discussion on his fittness was discussed on Railpage and was subequently locked. That is what the controversy is about.

Have a nice day. Tezza1 10:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

The original adding of the tag did not include that explanation in the edit summary. I assumed some one had missed the fair use exemption decision for the page. Jay32183 19:10, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up

[edit]

Just wanted to drop in and give you a heads up that I ran the checkuser on the Pointlessweb vandals; I couldn't find any signs of proxying, but since one was a schoool district IP, I'm going to call the school district in the morning and let them know, just in case one of thier machines has been compromised. School districts usually keep logs of school computer use, so they'll be able to either close the proxy or have a chat with the student or staff member responsible. I've done a couple dozen of these calls, and I usually get pretty good results; I know of at least a couple suspensions that have resulted, and it's always good for a call to the parents. Anyhow, Just a heads up. Essjay (Talk) 10:13, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking that out, Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help?

[edit]

Hi. I asked for help a couple of days ago, I replied on my talk page. --Seraphim Whipp 23:22, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not too sure how to handle your situation but from what I see on the talk page of the IP user, he's caught the attention of other admins, so that should work to monitor everything, Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A. B.'s RfA

[edit]

Hi Metros232, I see you have started on this. I've asked him about it before and he has declined the invitation so would be very keen to add my support. Is this going anywhere? Let me know if there's anything I can do. —Moondyne 00:05, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'd have to ask A. B. on that one. I created it a few weeks back and left the ball in his court, Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comber, Onatario

[edit]

Hello Metros232, I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to ask you a few questions about your edits to the Comber, Ontario Wikipedia page. I realize that you were trying to clean up the vandalism on the page, but I was wondering why you removed my additions about Samuel Taylor. Don't tell me they're not correct, I know they are. If need be, I will dig up my Places In Ontario book if you would like some proof. Thank you.

Add back any relevant information with reliable sources. All I saw there was vandalism so I reverted pretty far back. Some good edits might have been missed along the way, Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you didn't bother to look if people were right or not... alright, I'll find some sources and add some things back.

Virginia Tech Hokies Basketball/Possible Lock Needed

[edit]

Hey Metros, the Virginia Tech Hokies Basketball page is getting some bigtime vandalism from IP users. It is to the point where I am not even sure the information is accurate anymore. Could you place a lock on the page so it can be looked over for accuracy and to block out the IP users? I would appericate it. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 07:00, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is why it's better to report these things at WP:RFPP because it's now March 5th and you requested this on February 28. It looks fine and stable right now, Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Hi, I'm a friend of The Hybrid, and he passed me along to you in hopes that you might answer a question for me. A lot of the articles I work on are in need of images, but I am like an infant when it comes to uploading images. Do you know how that is done? How do I know what is okay to use and what will be a copyright problem? People talk about things like "fair use" and "orphaned images" and I just say, "what?" Yeah, I basically need everything explained to me about images. If you get the chance, I would appreciate it. Thanks a lot, --Tractorkingsfan 01:27, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This would be a good idea to read: Wikipedia:Image use policy. Metros232 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Already taken care of. This is a recognised troll, with the MO of posting to AN:I with his first edit, and creating a one-sentence userpage with the second. I'm keeping an eye out in case he shows up again, as well. Thanks for the heads-up, though. :) --InShaneee 02:05, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quadpus

[edit]

You misread my complaint about Quadpus, for some reason it didnt format right.. he reverted comments on DISCUSSION pages I made. That is a clear violation of wiki policy.--Dr who1975 05:58, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, no, it appears he reverted your move of that article to an inappropriate name. Show me where he's reverted on discussion pages. Metros232 06:01, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And by this edit, another admin concurs with my judgment. Metros232 06:02, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was mistaken.. It wasn't Quadpus. I also thought he wasn;t allowed to revert hs own talk page but I reviewed the policy and see I was mistaken about that too.--Dr who1975 06:10, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category Rename

[edit]
Yes, I agree with CapitalR...those pages need to be moved to have a space between the years. It is improper to have no space inbetween them as you have named them, Metros232 06:12, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not a bif deal. I'll see what I can do about it. I have to go to bed now so give me a few days. I just renamed all those pages last week based on soembody elses suggestions and my watchlist is now littered with redirect pages. Why did you all of a sudden decide to chime in on this?--Dr who1975 06:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just relaized something.... I already made the changes CapitalR suggested a week ago! Did you actually look at the pages before you commented? I realize I may be a little hypocritical here but... please try to check things before commenting on them. Incidentally I admitted to Quadpus that I made a mistake.--Dr who1975 06:24, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What? No you didn't. There's definitely no space here: United States Senators by seniority (1963,1964), United States Senators by seniority (1967,1968), United States Senators by seniority (1969,1970). Metros232 13:43, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct... but there was a space between "seniority" and "(" which I (incorecty) thought was all he and you were talking about... in any event, I've taken care of it now. Please excuse the misunderstanding.--Dr who1975 02:56, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Partial Protection/WYMT-TV

[edit]

Hey Metros, is there anyway you can put a partial protection on the WYMT-TV page so that only registered users can edit it? IP User 206.28.39.67 has added, then deleted, then readded the same names over and over and I honestly can't be sure if the information is accurate. I am stopping short of calling this sneaky vandalism, but that is almost what it looks like. I appericate your help. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 06:28, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to a request for helpme

[edit]

To begin with, thank-you for responding so swiftly. Everyone on wikipedia is equal but I felt as if that wasn't true and I was being discrimninated against based on my gender (i.e "you can stop crying under your desk now" or some such) thus the request for a female admin.
I'm sorry if I have caused any offence, I just feel very frustrated.
As you may have noticed, I haven't edited the article since (although, I still stand by the fact that the articles are about two different subjects); the reason I haven't edited it is because I wouldn't like to be in an edit war. The user ( Jerkmonkee) that disagreed with me was the only user to do so. There had been another three+ editors editing it and improving it. I'm so confused :-(. I just feel that each article needs a chance to develop separately. Am I wrong? --Seraphim Whipp 21:23, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell by looking at the page, only you were supporting the article staying and how he was supporting it staying a redirect. The other people who were editing it were doing maintenance work to the article as best as I can see. So I suggest taking this to Wikipedia:Third opinion to get a 3rd opinion. Almost everything you did was unhelpful for the article. In addition, those things you think were helpful were unsourced or unnotable. Your list of staff, for example, is unnecessary. Metros232 01:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the response, and your warm attitude (sarcasm). but seriously thanks i would be interested in learning how to site my work if you can give me a link. I did have sources for some of the information that i consider useful. ex. blue ribbon school. i am new here and wanted to attempt to edit somthing thought this would be a good place to start. thanks.

He may be watching you however you are not his primary target. To be honest we could care less about what your edits are. Keeping tabs on you temporarily is important so I can gather nessessary information on a certain banned user. He is acting as a kind of observer. He is even watching me probably too and I have no problem with that. But very soon we will have what we are looking for. He is only an observer in our conflict (if you can call it that). However you are still of some use. I want information and I want you to give me answers. Big Boss 0 03:04, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]
Thank you for your comments on my my recent RfA in which I withdrew because the oppose votes were almost equalling the supporters. I then decided to leave my account (Tellyaddict) and start fresh under a new username, however I quickly decided to reconsider after another user persuaded me not to leave the account - I am now glad I did reconsider because leaving that account and creating a new one was too hasty so I've decided to improve rather than starting again! I hope we can remain civil and that there were no negative feelings caused. Again, thanks for your support even though you opposed and I withdrew it, your vote is much appreciated! Answer

[edit]

My reason was not to promote my faction here. I was followed to wikipedia by several people who were watching me. Thanks to one of my friends I was able to learn they were watching me so I decided to cause a little hell on earth to distract them to make their heads spin. And do not insult me with that Pokemon bullcrap. That is one of my pet peeves. If you are insulting my skills of a duelist do it right. But anyway Nightmare will soon be giving me a report and you are welcome to see it. I haven't been able to contact him today so I have no idea how effective our little test was. Question

[edit]

One last question about the Viva La France case. Did you get involved in this case before or after you had become and administrator? Big Boss 0 00:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't remember, don't care, doesn't matter. Metros232 01:19, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try to remember. Before or after. As far as reason goes breaking a large vandal case such as Viva La France could propel anyone into pretty much instant confirmation for adminship. And what gave you that idea that you left on my talk page? Big Boss 0 13:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you go check yourself? Look at the date on the case, look at the date on my RFA. It's simple. And as for my comment about not being Ockenbock, it's because someone, aka yourself and your buddy Nightmare81, have been accusing me of being Ockenbock at other locations. Metros232 14:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then you aren't trying hard enough. -- The Hybrid 21:25, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the intrusion, just trying to help you. --Tractorkingsfan 02:22, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Henchman 2000

[edit]

Personally, I'd let it go. He contacted 1 person and that person declined to participate because of the perception of canvassing. If his actions had any appreciable effect on the AfD, I'd have a different opinion, but as it stands, a warning is sufficient along with monitoring to see if he starts engaging in more aggressive behavior along this line. That would be a problem.--Isotope23 15:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well he has done canvassing again: [[3]]. McKay has voted keep in the past, so Henchman goes to him to get another vote on AFDs (which he did before as well). RobJ1981 20:12, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Gee, I feel a little dumb now. I read the comments before I reverted, but it didn't click that they were so inappropriate. I was mainly focused on that IP user removing someone else's comments. To be honest, I usually leave tangential comments like that alone, and only remove blatant vandalism from talk pages. I'll be more careful about this in the future. Why did you reverse the edits to Soony Moore deletion page?

[edit]

This page is a vanity page and I've listed it up for deletion. The archived discussion has not been affected, but needed to create a new space for deletion discussion.--LifeStar 17:43, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you need to create a new page for that. You cannot simply tack a new AFD discussion on to an old one. You have to create a new one like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sonny Moore (2nd nomination) or something like that. Metros232 17:45, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I blanked my OWN talk page, and you reverted it.. May I ask why you did that? 202.74.197.61 01:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because your user talk page contains a litany of warnings because of your poor behaviour around here. It needs to be kept to document those offenses since they occurred rather recently. Metros232 01:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I always see people saying that their talk page is their own, it's up to them whether they delete stuff or not. How does this not apply to me? Also, the box saying I'm blocked has a note at the bottom saying it should be removed after the block is lifted. So is that not the case then? 202.74.197.61 01:17, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I had a link to every single one is because one link would never be good enough for Calton, hell 42 weren't good enough. Calton and his demanding of references and throwing away those given references is just plain stupid. He is no listening to an admin...you, an admin, say they don't go, OK...they don't go. That's fine. But, Calton needs to be told to work things out a little better with others, listen, stop demanding, stop treating people like they are 6, and stop berating people. My thanks for you assistance. - SVRTVDude (Yell | Toil) 03:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But he was right, a fan wiki that is hosting copyrighted material is not a reliable source for Wikipedia. See this policy. Metros232 03:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like someone has suddenly come out of the woodwork to disagree with you. Which is moot, because unless Orangemonster2k1 comes up with something resembling actual sourcing for the article as a whole, it's going up on AFD tomorrow, where I suspect its chances are slim. Oh, and Orangemonster2k1 has tried the page-protection end-run attempt before, except that it was protected on The Wrong Version, and instead of discussing the issue choose to run out the clock until he could resume edit-warring. --Calton | Talk 04:21, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Calton...AFD if you like. That is just you way of trashing it and not dealing with it. I gave sources...sources that COULD NOT BE EDITED BY JUST ANYONE...and you struck them down. I could give you sources directly from CartoonNetwork.com and AdultSwim.com and you would strike them down. Cause it would be the end of the arguement and you HAVE to keep every agruement going. - SVRTVDude (Yell | Toil) 05:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the photos are on a different website from the actual Wiki. The photos can only be edited by the editor of the website (the guy who owns it) and no one else. It is not like Wikipedia when Joe Schmo can edit a page with or without a username and password. Those pages on that particular website can only be edited by the owner of that website. Viewers may comment, but that is it. - SVRTVDude (Yell | Toil) 05:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would just like to draw your attention to what 87.68.218.150 did on Talk:El Al. You rightly challenged the validity of the vote, and concluded that three votes were invalid. 87.68.218.150 has now come back and reverted your change making two votes invalid and even put the comment 'Don't you dare revert to remove my vote.' on the page's history. I really think this is not acceptable. Could you give the user a warning please? Thanks, Bonus bon 06:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked 87.2.92.89

[edit]

This user got his last warning from me just now, but didn't perform any vandalism, or indeed any edits, after the last warning, but still appears to have been blocked. What happened here? Gekedo 14:37, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The vandalism was at a level that felt appropriate enough to go straight to a block (note that there was a warning on the user talk page already that said if he persisted it would lead to a block). It's pretty obvious that if you're vandalizing Jimbo Wales' user page that you know what you're doing and know the consequences of it. Metros232 15:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure I can agree with you there. A level 3 warning was followed by a last warning. The last warning is just that - a warning. Why is this user page subject to any different rules than any other page? As far as I can see this user has been prematurely blocked. Gekedo 15:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Look right here: [4]. Your level 3 warning says "if you continue, you will be blocked." He continued, he was blocked. I don't see why you're trying to stick up for the rights of someone who only vandalized. Metros232 15:14, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The warning levels are in place so that a user is given due warning before they are blocked. I have seen users go all the way up to level 4, the final warning, after being given a level 3, and then stop vandalizing because of the immediate and clear threat of a block at the final warning. I know this because I watch the user contribution page of users that I warn. Now, I am not saying that this user would necessarily have stopped, but that is beyond the point.
From the WP:AIV page -
"# The vandal is active now, has received a proper set of warnings, and has vandalized after a recent last warning, except in unusual circumstances."
Your block undermines this and, as far as I can see, is not a rightful action. Gekedo 15:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked for other admin eyes at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Did I block too soon?. Metros232 15:22, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll drop it from my hands and keep an eye on the noticeboard, for future reference. Cheers. Gekedo 15:28, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be interested to know why you reverted my edits. I removed several pieces of irrelevant, non-notable information. All contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage(s) of another user may be considered vandalism. Specifically, your edits to User:hmwith, User talk:hmwith, User:hmwith, User:hmwith/contributions, User:hmwith/wikiprojects, User:hmwith/userboxes, User:hmwith/banners, User:hmwith/ribbons, User:hmwith/pictures, and User:hmwith/facts may be offensive or unwelcome. If I had asked you, the same thing that I did would have been accomplished. Why force you to go through the trouble of removing them if someone else is already removing all the others? Metros232 20:51, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question and complaint

[edit]

Hi Metros232. I am a new contributer to wikipedia and have started by trying to create some articles on bassoonists, as it seems to me there is very little coverage on this in wikipedia. The two articles I have created so far were quickly deleted. Being a new contributer, I had patterned them on existing articles on bassoonists. They were both relatively brief but I intended on expanding them eventually. Even as they were, they were comparable to existing articles that have been accepted in terms of content if not length. One of the articles was on Frank Morelli, is one of the biggest figures in the field. I have been told (eventually) to talk with you about these deletions, and I would appreciate any help you can offer in terms of what I can do or am doing wrong with these articles.

I would also like to issue a complaint regarding JuJube. He initiated contact with me regarding my postings, and despite the fact that I made it clear to him that I am a new contributer and so am not familiar with how the system works, his attitude was rude and intolerant. He stated, for example, that he hated "having to explain the same thing twice" despite mentioning finally and for the very first time several things that significantly clarified things for me. I am willing to provide a transcript of our communication. As I do not know of any other way of communicating with him, I posted my messages to him on his "talk" page. However, he has repeatedly deleted these postings as well (a copy of these are available as well). Thanks in advance for your attention in these matters. {unsigned by [WoodWinder]}

Looking at the conversations between the two (Jujube and WoodWinder) here and here, it may be seen that Jujube tried explaining the same things with woodwinder several times, with almost the same response out of woodwinder- accusing Jujube for deleting his/her articles. Jujube does not have the power to do so, as Jujube explains several times on woodwinder's discussion page, even refering woodwinder to your Metros (the actual deletor of woodwinder's article).
This can not really be classified as mis-communication, as Jujube did a good job of explaining the situation, even providing names/links to people who could explain the situation further (possibly better). After the constant (and always the same) accusations of WoodWinder, JuJube eventually wrote that he/she is "unable to help further, and will be ignoring future messages". There is no fault here, only an editor who wishes to stop being harassed by WoodWinder. D-Hell-pers 05:55, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correction (see links provided by D-Hell-pers for specificts): Jujube did not explain "several times on woodwinder's discussion page" that he "does not have the power to" delete my articles. He only explained once after my first two postings on his talk page (see time stamps for confirmation). [unsigned, yet again, by WoodWinder]

(Sorry to argue this point on your discussion page Metros). Please RE-READ your discussion page WoodWinder. JuJube mentions "I only marked it for deletion" several times (you can check the time-stamps). This means "marked", not "deleted". It's like your classmates at school who place a "Kick Me" sign on your back ... they are not the ones that kick you, it's the subsequent students you pass in the hall. The first student "only marks" you to be kicked. D-Hell-pers 06:13, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only partly true. The following information was only made clear in his final communication on my talk page: 1) he only marked the page and did not delete it (that is the marker is not the same person that deletes it) 2) he is not an admin 3) he does not have the power to delete the page 4) he did not delete my other posting

The only things that were repeated were: 1) his instructions for me not to repost deleted pages 2) wikipedia criteria for article deletion. [unsigned by Woodwinder, please use the 4 "~" to sign]

Sorry Metro, but she is all yours. Good Luck! D-Hell-pers 06:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a new person, I naturally assumed that the person who marks a page for deletion is the same person who eventually deletes it. I can also see now how a more experienced person, having better knowledge of how things really work, might not realize this. I'm willing to move pass this as an unfortunate case of mutual misunderstanding. ~~Woodwinder~~ (sorry I keep forgetting to sign)

There was absolutely nothing in those articles that suggested notability especially through references of any type. Metros232 11:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey woodwinder, I know how you feel. Just because they think its not notable, they get to delete it. Who gets to decide what is notable? General Reeves

Fair use rationale for Image:NCAAVolleyballLogo-1-.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NCAAVolleyballLogo-1-.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 12:30, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have included the copyright information you requested on my photo. Thanks very much --Richard Peacock 02:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IP Watch

[edit]

Hi Metros! On the 9th of February you placed a 3 month Anon block on a UK school IP I was monitoring User:212.219.247.38, due to persistent vandalism, Block Log. The block is due to expire in the next few days and I wondered if you could please watch the Users contributions as I will be overseas for the next 2 weeks and unable to monitor them. BCrat

I'snt it hilarious how he calls us "higher ups"? Neither of us are admins! Keep watch for vandalism from him...jeez it seems like if we get one rid of one vandal (Big Boss 0) another one just comes to take his place. --User:Atomic Religione

Question

[edit]
On 16 March 2007, User:Seabass created Table Ball which I deleted. On 6 May 2007 User:Abarb created Table ball with the same text, which you deleted. Abarb has stated in User_talk:Tyrenius#Why he created the article which I deleted. Tyrenius 21:57, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say, I endorse your block of him fully. {{Helpme}} isn't to be abused. I think you're doing the right thing there, Metros232. --SunStar Net talk 21:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stoopid Monkey Comment

[edit]

I was working on a way, at the suggestion (and help) of another admin, to find a happy medium on the Stoopid Monkey page. The admin suggested I ask all who contributed on the Stoopid Monkey AfD, I posted that couple paragraph message on User:FateClub page, which I figured was self-explanatory, got some responses and incorporated the Stoopid Monkey logo explanations and their respective links into the Robot Chicken episode list. Since the process was over and everything was incorporated, I deleted the post from User:FateClub's talk page and since I am actually having to explain this, instead of people actually reading what I wrote, it was "oy vey" inducing. - SVRTVDude (VT) 16:21, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You don't understand what we're saying here. Look at your edit again here. You added 180kb of information to his page (normal messages are a few hundred bytes or about 1-2 kb if they're extremely wordy). Why did you add all that to his page? 99% of what you added had nothing to do with Stoopid Monkey. Metros232 16:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I just noticed that I, on accident, deleted half of User:FateClub's talk page. This was on accident. I deleted my previous post while in the individual post edit screen and didn't know it would delete the other posts below it. That was an honest mistake and not vandalism. I have apologized to User:FateClub and I apologize to you as well. - SVRTVDude (VT) 16:26, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, what it appears that you did is to add someone else's talk page to his. You didn't affect anything that was already on his talk page, you just added a ton of stuff that never was there before you edited his talk page. Metros232 16:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, now I realize what you mean, now I was sleepy, but I did not add that to his page. It was a simple cut and paste of the Stoopid Monkey post to each user that contributed to the AfD, but none of that was on there. If I did that on accident, I apologize, but that was not, and I repeat not, done intentionally. - SVRTVDude (VT) 16:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see what I did....I had to make a spelling correction (and it was only two people into my cut and paste posts) so I went back, made those changes and recopied my post (with the correction) and must have accidently copied User:David Levy entire talk page without noticing. I have, on occasion, copied an entire page, instead of the line I want. How I, on the next talk page, didn't post the User:David Levy entire talk page again and again and again, I am not sure, but again, I apologize. I feel bad, first because I did this and second because I thought the guy just didn't understand what I was meaning with my post. I honestly feel bad and I honestly apologize. - SVRTVDude (VT) 16:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture deletion

[edit]

You recently deleted my picture of Juliet Gellatley. I understand that I used the wrong lisence. She gave permission, what lisence should I use? Robert C Prenic 16:59, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{Attribution}} may be best. You should probably use it as {{Attribution|Juliet Gellatley}} or whoever else is supposed to be attributed for its use (don't know if she has the rights to it or an agent/photographer related to her). Metros232 18:19, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deleting images

[edit]

Apologies if that was the wrong route to go down, but it seems silly to go through the whole request for deletion process if the article they were in was already speedily deleted for non-notability. Also, which one was still being used? I checked "What links here" for all of them and only found talk pages. Number 57 20:06, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see - I didn't realise "What links here" doesn't work properly for images - only your talk pages shows up as a link on that now. Thanks for letting me know. Number 57 20:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To find what pages are using the image, scroll down to the bottom to the "File links" section of the image page. Metros232 20:43, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can speedy delete if you wish

[edit]

I had previously raised an objection to speedy deletion of User talk:Lsi admin, for I was under the impression it is not customary to speedy delete or delete at all talk pages. However, upon further comments from neutral, previously uninvolved and WP:CIVIL editor, User:Alison, I have changed my mind, I remove my objection. User:Lsi john wishes for the page to be deleted, and I have no objection. As such, I will re-add the delete tag, and you may feel free to do as you wish. Yours, Smee 20:57, 9 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hi, you came to my page and warned me about vandalism, but I hadn't vandalized a page, I went to it and it was changed so I typed "THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED BIASLY" so somebody could come and revert it, so can you please remove the warning from my page?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Acorn98 (talkcontribs)

nice to see if there was some random guy posting stuff on my user page that you would revert it, but its me Atomic and what i said on my user page was true, do you have any idea how i can log in?

Deleted Company Entry in Error

[edit]

According to your logic you deleted the entry 'FastRoot' by the reason of blatant advertising. There are many companies added to Wiki that promote their services that should be deleted, but my entry was purely fact based and encyclopedic. In fact I asked several people to review this entry so it wouldn't be deleted for this very reason. I went as far as checking some other well respected company listings so my entry would NOT sound like an ad. I stayed away from using self-praise, marketing lingo, and any deceptive practices. I would like you to retract your deletion or come up with a better explanation because if you are going to delete this entry you are missing ones that are more worthy of deletion. aruda May 11, 2007

User: Metros232 I have retagged the article The Black Crochan for “Speedy Deletion”” as I have merged this piece with the The Chronicles of Prydain. I do not believe we need separate articles for every individual story – song – accomplishment that an individual has. We should be looking to consolidate the information rather that having it fragmented all over the site. Don’t you agree with this? Let me know your thoughts.
