I Will Create a Page for Prison Pet Programs

I will explain what prison pet programs are and list some of the various organizations and prisons implementing them.

I will write about the earliest forms of prison pet programs and how they compare/contrast to programs today.

I will also explain the different viewpoints on the "benefits" of such programs.

I will try to follow the outline of:

Prison Pet Programs

 Introduction of subject and other terms used.

History

 Background information on how it got started. Similarities/differences to animal-assisted therapy.

Modern Programs

 Discussion about prisons and organizations currently collaborating and global impact.

Types of Animals

 Listing the different type of animals used in the programs.

Benefits

 Discussion on how these programs influence inmates positively and help the animals.

Critisisms

 Discussion on negative influences and lack of research on the effects these programs have on recidivism. How animals are impacted.
