Even though I do some edits on Wikipedia, I disagree with your advice to look at Wikipedia for an unbiased, scientific account. I agree that external webs are biased, but fundamentally Wikipedia is a free for all and not more likely to be more accurate then other webs, imo. For example, other webs might be written by someone who is qualified and expert in his field, so therefore, more likely to be correct. Overwhelmingly in Wikipedia, authors edit outwith their own qualifications, and often it’s a consensus of the common misconceptions that prevails.

Sure, I recommend people to check out what Wikipedia says, for that viewpoint, it does have a lot of correct stuff, but its also misleading in that it allows crank ideas to be presented in a semi respective way. The reality is, some peoples opinions *are* more valid than others. Kevin aylward 14:37, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes a new field of study is uncovered. The "scientific" foundation of many respected fields of study was laboriously built by people who thought those things were worth studying long before that foundation was built. --68.0.124.33 (talk) 02:35, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
