Catherine Chipembere

[edit]

Hi, Do you know of any reference material to Catherine Chipembere? I have known her for about 15 years here in Pasadena, before she returned to Malawi, and since on her occasional visits here to see her kids. I think her story is remarkable enough to merit a separate article on Wikipedia, and have been urging her to tape recollections of her part in the independence movement (I know she was befriended by the wife of the British Governor of Nyasaland at the time, while Henry was in prison), their conflict with Hastings Banda and flight to Dar es Salaam, her life in Southern California after Henry's death, and her experiences on subsequently returning to Malawi, where I believe she now runs a women's knitting co-operative. I appreciate your major contributions to the article on Henry. I think this material needs to be recorded while it is still fresh, as it will become an important part of the founding history of the modern nation, much as as Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson are for us here in the US. Thanks! Wwheaton (talk) 14:16, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. I think Catherine meets the Wiki notability criterion; I understand that she was the first woman elected to parliament in Malawi (upon her return in 1993) and was also appointed to a ministerial position in the culture and education department. She retired from politics around 2000 I believe. I probably cannot devote much time to this myself, but would be happy to facilitate any efforts by others. I am in contact with her local family, in particular. I will watch-list your talk page for a while if you need to respond. Cheers, Wwheaton (talk) 02:22, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Solar cell, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Hello, I'm Khazar2. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Orton Chirwa, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I've removed it for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. -- Khazar2 (talk) 19:14, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Oliver, I'd be glad to add the citation in a bit. Can you also specify the page numbers the info came from? -- Khazar2 (talk) 19:39, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you're way ahead of me! Thanks for the addition. -- Khazar2 (talk) 19:45, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lawrence Makata, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Operation Sunrise. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Liar's poker. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. McGeddon (talk) 11:11, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dunduzu Chisiza

[edit]

I moved Dunduzu Chisiza to the correct spelling. I initially changed it because I came across a number of sources with the other spelling, but looking at it again those seem to be incorrect. Thanks for pointing that out. Best, Jgefd (talk)
