Speedy deletion nomination of Team four star

[edit]

Hello OkamiSangen,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Team four star for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

  • Hi! I wanted to explain what happened. Ultimately it's that you didn't show where the group is ultimately notable enough for an article. It's actually really, really difficult for a YT personality to achieve notability because it's fairly rare for them to get the amount and type of coverage necessary to pass notability guidelines. These sources have to be things like coverage in newspapers, online websites like IGN or AV Club, or mentions in other sources typically seen as reliable such as scholarly or academic sourcing. Primary sources, like the YT channel, cannot show notability and wikis are typically not seen as reliable sources because they are edited by a wide variety of people akin to Wikipedia. Sites like Nerd Stash are kind of iffy, as you have to show that they undergo editorial oversight that would satisfy Wikipedia's standards and that they're routinely seen as a reliable source by other reliable sources. It can be kind of difficult for online pop culture and gaming websites, to be honest.
An example of how hard it can be to establish notability is PewDiePie. He repeatedly failed notability guidelines, even well after he became one of the top subscribed channels on YT and even about a few months to a year after he became the most subscribed channel. Relatively recently I and others also participated in a deletion discussion about an article for one of the Game Grumps, Dan Avidan. It was very nearly deleted and it was actually the coverage for his music career that predominantly saved his article. It's just that hard. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:30, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
