Stanley Cup GA
Look at this diff. It seems that all is settled now. Evilclown93 20:25, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Would like that section to be rewritten, or possibly split into an article, with all the cited parts left in the article, or just plain cut it up to leave only a few paragraphs? Evilclown93 12:11, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Everything was fixed a second after you posted the message. : ) Evilclown93 12:37, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Aren't the women on the cup and the misspelling are two listy? I was thinking of mentioning those to points in the Stanley Cup article, but cover it much more in the other article. Evilclown93 12:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

GAC backlog eliminiation drive
Regarding your comment at the Award Center, I'll extend the time for you. My main goal is to get the number of nominations down to around fifty, so whatever time frame that is done in is fine with me. Just follow the instructions on the Award Center page and leave your name and articles you reviewed on my subpage. Let me know if you have any questions. --Nehrams2020 08:09, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi OhanaUnited, you need to do several more steps after you complete a GA review. Leaving them undone means the process is in limbo... You need to change the template on the article's talk page (as needed), remove the listing on WP:GAC (as needed), etc. Please read the instructions on WP:GAC carefully. Thanks! Ling.Nut 02:12, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- I looked over two of the articles you passed and wanted to point out a couple of things. First, good job on helping with the process, I think that the drive is doing well with so many people involved. For the article The Preuss School UCSD, the first image lacked a fair use rationale. According to criterion 6 of the GA criteria, all copyrighted images need a fair use rationale. In the future, just make sure that any image that isn't released of all rights has a proper rationale. For the Beelzebub (Sand Land) article, I think that passing it now may be too soon for the article. I don't think that it meets criterion 3, as the article is not very broad in detail. It covers the character's history, but not really much else. The images, however, do have fair use rationales which is good. I may be nominating this article soon at GAR, to ensure that the article does stand up to the criteria. I'll be seeking input from other editors first, but perhaps you can leave a comment on the article's page about asking the editors of the article to expand the article further. If it cannot be expanded, then I think it must be demoted for now. If it is expanded in the future, it can be renominated again. If you have any questions regarding this, let me know on my talk page. --Nehrams2020 06:02, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. It looks like the article was passed over a year ago, so the image may have been added after its passing, but I left a message on the talk page. I'm going to go through the rest of the education articles right now and see if they have FURs. As a side note, if you include a fair use image in messages on talk pages, make sure to put a semicolon in front of the image so only the link shows, not the image. You can look at the image you just left me to see what I mean. Again, thanks for letting me know. --Nehrams2020 06:26, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Surprisingly, almost all of the education building articles that have logos need FURs. The example you included on my page would be good, but it would be better if it was expanded further and had more detailed. Another logo example is Image:Embry-riddle color logo.gif. A FUR with a lot of detail that I use for movie posters would be like Image:Everyones hero.jpg. The idea is to stress the importance of the image to Wikipedia and provide a rationale for using it here since Wikipedia does not own the rights of the image. Let me know if that clarifies it for you. --Nehrams2020 06:47, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- That looks fine. I just wanted to make sure that you understood the FUR process to better prepare you when reviewing articles. This doesn't just apply to educational logos, but any copyrighted images found in articles. Next time, instead of adding the rationale yourself when reviewing the article, let the editors of the article know so that they can add it. Each editor that knows about the concept of FURs helps to inform even more editors. It took me a long time to understand FUR, so good job in your efforts. I'll talk to you again about the other article once I hear back from other editors on their opinion of the article. --Nehrams2020 06:59, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Not sure how to help
I'm not sure how to help with your idea, but it is a very good idea. I will be getting back to assessing and tagging articles for WP Enviornment as soon as I can. I've been very busy in WikiProject Biography and have to put this on 250 more members talk page's:
WikiProject Biography is holding a three month long assessment drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unassessed articles. The drive is running from June 1, 2007 – September 1, 2007.
Awards to be won range from delicacies such as the WikiCookie to the great Golden Wiki Award.
There are over 110,000 articles to assess so please visit the drive's page and help out!
This drive was conceived of and organized by Psychless with the help of Ozgod. Regards, Psychless Type words!.
Oh what fun. Anyways, I haven't forgotten about it. --Psychless Type words! 00:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I was barely able to come up with plenty of external links for the character. As notable as he is, it seems impossible to find "useful" sources. There wasn't even a character design review by Akira Toriyama (the series creator) anywhere on the net — not even Japanese, a horrible written Spanish was of no good or German for that case. Any ideas? I really tried; I'll place one more section on that article which may prove of use. Perhaps you can comment or put a blurb on the talk page again? Lord Sesshomaru
- Hmm, how is this section looking? Lord Sesshomaru
- Thanks for everything. I will make sure it stays in good article shape for as long as possible. Lord Sesshomaru
- I'm considering promoting it to be a featured article. What should happen before I propose it? Lord Sesshomaru
- Thanks for everything. I will make sure it stays in good article shape for as long as possible. Lord Sesshomaru
Earlier today you removed this article from WP:GAC leaving only "quick-fail" in the edit summary. Why? How can the article be improved to get it to GA status? Thanks. Slambo (Speak) 13:18, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks!
Thanks for the barnstar! I still haven't finished assessing or tagging articles so I will continue to work on it. In regard to your suggestion about the biography assessment drive, I think there could be some more awards in the 200 – 1000 area. There was a spring assessment drive that lasted one month, you can see more about it if you check the page history. The median score would most likely be 1000 or above. I'd like to keep the barnstars at one per 1000 articles, but I'd like to see what your ideas are, so if you want to create a different award system I will look at it. Again, thanks for the barnstar! --Psychless Type words! 15:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
GA failure for Northeastern United States tornado outbreak of 1989
I am confused as to your failing of the article. All it would have taken was for me to add a simple link (which I have done) to address all of your concerns, couldn't you have put it on hold? Regardless, I have addressed the concern, could you please take another look at the article? -RunningOnBrains 16:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for re-reviewing so quickly. Have a nice day!-RunningOnBrains 15:42, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Awards
You get 1 barnstar for each 1000 articles you assess. I suppose you would get a higher grade barnstar the more you do. If you would like to be the awards committee then leave a note on my talk page. --Psychless Type words! 16:28, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay
You will be added to the awards committee. Good idea on the GA symbol. Going to be hell fun putting those on all the Good Article pages. Psychless Type words!
- Can I have some more information on the thing about the GA symbol? I'm interested in helping with this. --Psychless Type words! 19:24, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Good article template?
Well, I'm trying to get this to work. It shows the symbol all right but it won't do the link. --Psychless Type words! 19:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar ribbon
Your page about barnstar ribbon is not too accurate because the ribbons have to indicate what type of barnstar you receive, not # of barnstars. # of barnstars only apply when you get 2 or more of the same kind of barnstar. OhanaUnited 12:58, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- In military tradition when someone receives an award multiple times rather than carrying multiple times it is represented by various "pins". On my ribbon system when someone receives a barnstar multiple times each "extra" is represented with a star. The type of the barnstar is available if you recognize how they look like but also when you click on them. -- Cat chi? 13:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

List of Sikhs
Sorry, don't know how to change a List-class from an unassessed-class, so, on the basis of the few names listed, changed it to Stub-Class. Hope that resolves the matter. John Carter 18:17, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure exactly what you mean. I added the template in May, and made it "List" class then. I today revised the class to "stub". So, I did add it, and the List class, one revision ago, changing the Class today. The banner was added because the article relates to (add least), Sikhism, and Islam, and maybe whatever Vic Briggs was before conversion, so it, like all the other "Lists of converts" was tagged then, based on the idea that these articles might have content which might be beyond the field of knowledge of members of any WikiProject related to an individual religion. This is not to say that the {{WikiProject Sikhism}} could not be added as well, of course. I hope that answers your question. John Carter 18:26, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Your WP:ENVIRONMENT assignment.
How many do you want tagged for the barnstar? DevAlt 15:33, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- So why bother advertising it on the award center? DevAlt 17:01, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think you need to watch your tone too. Announcing you will give out a barnstar for tagging environment articles and then saying actually, you won't if you don't feel like it is silly. DevAlt 17:18, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, I actually did 160 and also wiped out your backlog of unassessed articles (297 all told) so you can keep on top of it. You have massive numbers of articles that you don't have tagged though, you may wish to contact SatyrTN and ask him about his bot. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 00:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

I 'm sorry to hear about that you can't find us last weekend. Actually, we didn't show up the wikipedia logo last time and as you know City Express is a large canteen. That's the reason why you couldn't recognize us. And I'll do something to improve this issue anyhow.
For the next meetup, it would be as usual on the following Saturday (16/6) at 6.30pm. But I suggest you contact me first by 61999476, then I can tell you more about the meetup. Stewart~惡龍 20:13, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

I have awarded you this medal for your work in helping to reduce the backlog during the Good Article Candidates Backlog Elmination Drive. You reviewed five or more articles during the drive, which helped to contribute to the large decrease in the backlog. If you have the time, please continue to review articles to help make sure the backlog does not jump back up to what it was. Good job and happy editing! Nehrams2020 06:35, 15 June 2007 (UTC) |

hello, I am 費勒姆 from Chinese Wikipedia
Sorry, I will type Chinese in this section
Grave of Hideyoshi以及在Kyoto供奉秀吉的Tomokuri Shirne被shogunate破壞。
此外,移封的Daimyo還有Naitō Nobumasa(Takatsuki Castle, Settsu Province20,000 koku)和Mizuno Katsushige(Yamato Koriyama, Yamato Province 60,000 koku)。

Hello. Nice to meet you.--encyclopedist 12:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
That is where you should find it assessed as A-class. It is strange though, when I was using the assessment tool from User:Outriggr/metadatatest.js to try to edit the talk page, it would always bring me to an old version of the page, where it is only B class and a GAN. Something very strange is going on. -RunningOnBrains 14:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- A-class review is something that I have never done. I have had two articles featured this year without such a process, and it is not mentioned here as a requirement for A-class. I have only heard of its existence in passing, could you point me to a page where I can read about it? -RunningOnBrains 15:13, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. In the projects I've worked on, it's really been up to editor's disgression, and I've always thought of a GA, peer-reviewed article as A class 90% of the time. -RunningOnBrains 15:39, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hmm
I'm not sure if it would be really worth it for me to join the taskforce. I have so many other projects I would probably forget about it. Thanks for the offer though! On a side note, whatever happened to the GA symbol thing? --Psychless 17:20, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Removal of links on MapleStory
I don't understand why you removed mapletip.com from the external links. MapleTip is a popular fansite and provides significant amounts of information including a maplewiki for MapleStory. I have put the link back in. Mapletip 19:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- That does not matter, what matters is how informational a website truly is. MapleTip has all the information and more about MapleStory than hidden-street does. Not to mention a marketplace, a forum and a maplewiki. I understand that you do not want a collection of links, but when you also put in the amount of simutaneous users, (near 200+ in 15 minutes during early hours and 350+ during peak hours), you must understand that this website is not a website that simply has only a couple people go on it a day. Mapletip 02:30, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

So far I've been mainly writing articles in the area of Renewable energy, so it would be good to branch out and do something a bit different. I've tried to load Outriggr's tool, but no success as yet. Your suggestions and guidance would be welcome. -- Johnfos 22:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I read your addition to Taco Bell-- but I wonder if this section should be more appropriately added to Yum! Brands rather than the restaurant chains indivudually. --Samuel di Curtisi di Salvadori 07:51, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Environmental Report
Others contributors and I recently removed these additions to the various articles because the represent usage of Wikipedia as a Soapbox and in line with the WP:NOT#SOAPBOX policy.
I understand your concerns with the environment and share many of them but your contributions were not appropriate the way they were randomly added to the articles. The way the information was presented in such a way that it appeared to be advocating the point of view of the organization that created the report. The information could be added in a more appropiate way as either part of the corporate policies or controversies sections that are found in many of the articles you added the information to.
Jerem43 16:29, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello again, I just wanted to insure that there is no bad blood over those edits I did on those articles. You left a message for me on my discussion page about them and I wanted to address your concerns.
*Point 1 (Propaganda or advocacy): The report as I quote in the reference, from Reuters, and Reuters obtained it from an organization's report. Now, will Reuters report news just to advertise certain company?
- My response It is coverage of a press release of an organization who wishes to make a point about its belief in a sensational way. Yes they would, it is a common practice amongst companies and organizations- cigarette companies, car companies, food producers, PETA and Consumer Reports do it all the time and the news wires do what they are supposed to do, report it. Its simple PR.
*Point 2 Self-promotion: I don't work at any of those companies, so it's not self promotion
- My response: No you are not, put please look at the last point.
*Point 3 Advertising: I'm not advertising a product or saying which company is better than others in terms of their products.
- My response: You are not advertising but advocating. You are, by your own admittance on your user page and as a major contributor to (and co-founder of) the Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment project article, an avowed environmentalist who hopes to "...primarily address entries for corporations, institutions, and other organizations having notable environmental impact, as well as for individuals whose activity in the political process has notable environmental impact." Advocating is just another form of soapboxing.
I am not disparaging you or your goals, but by advocating a point of view or cause, in your case environmentalism and exposing corporate environmental policies, does violate the WP:NPOV standards. Your goals are worthy of praise and I respect and fully support them. Even though I agree with you and your principles, as contributors we have to respect the rules and guidelines that make up Wikipedia. I, and others, made those removals as a matter of Good Faith, not to anger you or belittle your contributions.

referencing
Thanks for adding new content to articles like Siemen's AG and IBM. I would like to suggest using the {{cite-web}} and {{cite-news}} templates within the <ref> tags. It takes just a second longer to do, and provides both more meaningful content to those who wish to verify the information (namely the article tite and the access date) and a standardized display within reference lists. The format is {{cite web |title=foo |url=http://bar.com |accessdate=2007-06-23}}. Cheers! /Blaxthos 13:12, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use images on portals
Hi, OhanaUnited. Nice work on the Environment portal! :-) One thing to keep in mind, however, is you can't have fair use/copyrighted images on them, e.g., the WWF & other organization logos. It bites and it's sad but true. :-( RichardF 14:51, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Tagging new articles
Hi, could you modify your bot so that it also tags new untagged articles for WikiProject Environment? The template name is {{environment}}. OhanaUnitedTalk page 16:35, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, OhanaUnited! The bot is just finishing up tagging WP:ALABAMA, so it's available for WP:Environment.
- To get started, I'll need a list of categories to run through. I don't let it run through subcategories because things can get really messed up that way. So if you could put together something like Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera/Catlist, I can sic the bot on it. The easiest way to do that is to start with the category tree function. Go through and click the pluses and minuses until you have the list of cats you want. Select the text on the page - not the code - and paste it into another page. I should be able to work with that.
- Let me know if that doesn't make sense :) -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 16:50, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Random DYK on Environment portal
It should work now. RichardF 13:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
When you add new DYK items, you also have to update Portal:Environment/Did you know to display them on the portal. Edit the page and follow step 2.
2. Update the "Random subpage" start and end values above to include the new DYK and evenly distribute the number of items across all four display templates.
When you Edit, you'll see four lines at the top of the page. Change the start=X and end=Y values so that every subpage number is included exactly once somewhere on the four randomizer lines.
Random subpage|page=Portal:Environment/Did you know|start=X|end=Y|seed=101
I hope this helps. RichardF 15:31, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Environment quotes
You can't even get a straight answer on "Think Globally, Act Locally"! >;-o) RichardF 18:26, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget to check out q:Environmentalism and its related categories. I really didn't see much there for a portal, but it's where I got quote #1, ...and it's a start! :-) RichardF 19:58, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Environment Portal
Hi Ohana,
You've made a really nice job of the portal. Perhaps you could include some section on environmental technologies - man's response to environmental problems. --Alex 15:50, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers & well done with your new role. A 'famous' environmentalist here in the UK is Tony Juniper from Friends of the Earth. James Lovelock is another for the Gaia hypothesis. I'll put my mind to thinking of some more.--Alex 16:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly Nicholas Stern--Alex 16:03, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget links from Portal:List of portals and Wikipedia:Portal/Directory. Good work! ;-) RichardF 16:12, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
environment portal
OhanaUnited--I haven't participated in the review process so I'm not sure what you're asking re: Portal:Environment--let me know if there are specific steps I can take.
Thoughts:
- It looks great! Fantastic work.
- There are a couple of wording changes I would make, both to the intro and to the leads of articles presented. Should I just make the changes on the page and let you decide if they stick?
- Can we possibly get the ERTF a nice, visible place on the portal?
- A central question for me is, what differentiates an environment portal from a water, weather, earth sciences, or atmospheric sciences portal? In my mind it can only be that these other portals organize articles about wind or weather as objects of study, whereas the environment portal organizes articles about them as objects of conservation, objects under threat. For this reason I think it is not only acceptable, but necessary that the portal make this explicit. The most important way to do this is to establish the existence of these threats in the portal text. At present, the portal text works mostly to define "environment"--I think it needs to
- A)Define "Environment" (maybe from an ecological angle i.e. "space in which living things grow and interact" etc...
- B)Define key ecological threats. It'll be difficult to be concise about these. What, in just a few words, are the key threats? Climate change, Land use, pollution?
- C)Define the portal's purpose, which is not only to better understand what is meant by "environment," but especially to understand what issues arise from our impact on the environment.
Let me know if any of this makes sense? I think your portal is a great idea that will substantially improve accessibility to the facts about environmental issues. Keep up the great work.

Portal review
OK. I'll get back with you. Richiar 05:12, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Request for comment on portal
I reviewed the portal. I think its very good: one of the best I've seen. I have to spend more time to see if I can find any problems with it, such as navigation, but so far, I'm impressed. Richiar 13:26, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Congrats
Congrats on finding my first secret page! Have you look for the second? hmwith talk 19:56, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Reviewed a second time
Thats a great portal. I can't find anything wrong with it. The comments by Cyrusc seem appropriate, but it looks like featured portal quality. The thing that makes a portal good to me is that it makes my exploring easy and simple, and this portal does that. Richiar 04:44, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hi OhanaUnited--I second the enthusiasm for the portal. I also think Cyrusc's comments are right on!! Way to go! Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you--I've been traveling and have had limited time. Benzocane 13:58, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Hey!
Hey Ohana! I am a user from that private MapleStory server from a while back - the one that turned out to be fake because of that one kid (I forget his name, unfortunately) turned out to be... well, a kid. Anywho, that's all beside the point - I am messaging you to ask if there are any other Maple Private servers you know about or are working on. I hear you were rather upset about the lie of a server, but hopefully you didn't lose interest. :(
I hope to hear from you again! Legendotphoenix 10:43, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome! I hope we run into each other again sometime while working on articles. Take care! Legendotphoenix 15:19, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Ediacaran Barnstar
Oh, it probably overlaps a little, but I was really just making it in order to celebrate some hard work we've been doing on Ediacaran biota and similar articles by User:Verisimilus. It.... was never going to be a frequently-used barnstar, though I could see using it again for things like Evolution or Cambrian Explosion. Mainly, though, just a wikilove thing for Versimilus's hard work. Adam Cuerden talk 22:00, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Just wanted to let you know that I put a prod on the article. He is one of several former mayors and I don't recall him doing anything else that would qualify him as notable. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 06:25, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
