Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Odalis92, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. [edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Self-marriage. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Thank you for the heads up. I'll make sure to delete that detail and just include that the service exists. Odalis92 (talk) 03:15, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Self-marriage, you may be blocked from editing. General Ization Talk 03:18, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
I do apologize, I just really need to do this for a class. I am trying to find more information on the topic as we speak. I am in no way trying to promote anything on Wikipedia, I was just trying to say that the service exists. Odalis92 (talk) 03:21, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- Then find a newspaper article or other independent source to link to that mentions (and thus sources a simple statement) that such services exist, without promoting or describing in depth the services of a specific one. What you have done so far is add an advertisement for a specific service. If you do so again, I will request that you be blocked. General Ization Talk 03:27, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Oh okay I see what you are saying. I had no idea that Wikipedia didn't allow that. I'll make sure not to let it happen again. There's no reason for me to be blocked. Thank you. Odalis92 (talk) 03:31, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Article titles, etc.
[edit]Hello, Odalis92. I happened upon Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/Florida International University/Basic Ideas of Sociology (Spring 2016). You may already know this, but I thought I would point out that article titles on Wikipedia are case sensitive. For example, there is no article at Sex stratification, but there is an article at Gender inequality, and Sex Stratification with upper-case S is an alternative name for it (a "redirect", in Wikipedia jargon).
I mentioned the issue of case-sensitivity to User:Alfgarciamora and a few others from the course, but this issue is slightly more complicated. I guess you'll need to decide whether to contribute to the existing Gender inequality article or to create a new article. If you decide to make something new, you might want to check out the advice at Wikipedia:Your first article.
Best wishes for happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 03:47, 14 March 2016 (UTC)
