Question about your "Book requests" project with The Wikipedia Library

Hello! Sorry for bothering you about Wikipedia Library stuff all these years later, but I wanted to ask you about a page that you set up for the project: meta:The Wikipedia Library/Book requests. It looks like it was set up and ready to go, but then it was only ever used once. What's the story behind this? Was there something that prevented it from going into operation, or was it simple lack of interest? This is something that could be really valuable, and I wanted to know if it was worth re-exploring. Thanks! Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:12, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

Hey, happy to hear from you @Thebiguglyalien! There is no content community on meta, so this page was effectively just part of a standard package. It's much more common, and effective to use a local language wiki's resource exchange, such as WP:RX. I don't think it's worth exploring, with The Wikipedia Library now in effect. However, you might want to ping @Samwalton9 (WMF) and ask about a "meta" or "global" RX that runs through WP:TWL. That would be cool! Cheers, Ocaasi t | c 23:15, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

Tool of the week

  • Wikidata periodic table - Tool by User:Ricordisamoa, to browse all chemical elements available on Wikidata, with atomic number, chemical symbol, and localized label. It also includes two charts of the nuclides, with links to every isotope in Wikidata, colored by half-life or decay mode.

Other Noteworthy Stuff

  • A new UI mode is available for the online validator for EntitySchemas. It represents validation reports as a table rather than a very long string, and replaces most links with hyperlinks with some of the text behind them; making them easier to read. Currently being tested at https://shex-validator.toolforge.org/packages/shex-webapp/doc/shex-simple-improved.html, we are looking for participants to evaluate this tool. Some experience with editing Wikidata is appreciated, but no experience working with Schemas is required. If you are interested, you can sign up here. We hope to begin interviews around May 13.
