Fellatio

[edit]

I hope you don't mind, but I've moved your comment on the Fellatio page to it's own section here [1] for discussion. While the earlier discussions were pretty much closed, you raise a question I don't think has been addressed before, so I separated it to draw attention to the discussion.

Please note I did initially revert your removal of the picture, since the edit reulted in a broken link appearing. Since the picture is there by a long-standing consensus, please continue the discussion on the talk page.

I appreciate your time and attention to the page, if I can help you, just leave a comment here and I'll respond. Good luck! Dayewalker (talk) 18:24, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Dayewalker, I've been a viwer/advocate of wikipedia for years and I spend countless hours browsing and reading although I just made an account today because I was seriously disturbed by that image. I'm new so I really don't comprehend exactly what I am supposed to do to change the picture. I just want to use a picture from the same illustrator from a different page that truly reflects the definition, but is not offensive or supportive of sterotypes. The better image is from the oral sex page and depicts a white woman performing fellatio on a white man. Can yu help me edit this??--Obscure323 (talk) 18:29, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate you asking, I think the best thing to do right now is wait for more people to comment on the talk page. There was a lot of discussion between many editors that went into the consensus to use that image, so it's best to get outside opinions on your point. For now, just see what other editors have to say about the point you brought up. Thanks! Dayewalker (talk) 18:53, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What if no one comments? What if no one cares because they are not of the african american demographic so they don't understand why it is offensive? Is there anything I can do to chnge to image to the one on the other page?--Obscure323 (talk) 19:05, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would advise against just changing the image on your own without trying to get the opinions of other editors, already one more has commented on the page. Just give it time, not everyone is on wikipedia at the same time. Dayewalker (talk) 19:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's how life goes. No one cares. No one likes you. But honestly as a white guy I find the picture of a black male's semen on the face of a white woman just as offensive. Bitching about stereotypes is actually also a stereotype in itself. Have a nice day.

ok.--Obscure323 (talk) 19:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have edited for you. Do what you will: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki-fellatio_revised.svg Don't doubt someone will delete it as my description is not really up to scratch. 1bj05hua (talk) 02:31, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

[edit]

Normally go on the talk pages of users. Now that I see there was a specific area for you to comment, that was asked by the owner of the talk page, I reverted myself.— dαlus Contribs 20:57, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. I already added the event back to the article. The reason that I removed it to begin with was three-fold. (1) the paragraph started with a sentence about European ethnic neighborhoods, (2) the "sponsored by Haneef & Hanifa Shabazz..." statement seemed to smack of spam, and (3) it lacked a reference. HokieRNB 12:31, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your subsequent edit removed the wikilink to the church. HokieRNB 12:32, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You may also note that I removed the sentence about the European ethnicity, since I agree that mentioning the ethnicity of each festival makes it clear. Now I'm wondering if the Bob Marley festival or Clifford Brown Jazz festival should be included. HokieRNB 12:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it would be better to start a new page for festivals, a new section on the Wilmington page, or clean up the Delaware festivals page. "First Night" definitely doesn't belong in a section on demographics. HokieRNB 12:58, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see this list of notable festivals to include:

  • Hearts and Minds Independent Film Festival
  • Wilmington Flower Market
  • Greek Festival - Holy Trinity Church
  • Italian Festival - St. Anthony's Church
  • Clifford Brown Jazz Festival - Rodney Square
  • August Quarterly - Riverfront
  • Riverfront Blues Festival - Riverfront
  • People's Tribute to Bob Marley Festival - Riverfront
  • Hispanic Festival - Riverfront
  • Brandywine Arts Festival - Brandywine Park
  • Polish-American Festival - Riverfront
