Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here) --Nunnsofunky (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why this article has been marked for deletion. It was marked for deletion earlier today when I originally created it because it contained text that was almost identical to that of the Trust's website. I removed the text and replaced it with a small amount of "placeholder" text (which was not lifted from our web site) until I could re-write the article properly in my own words. It is not promoting a profit-making organisation. The Trust is a Charity - the same status as, say, the British Heart Foundation, which has an active article. The main reason I created the article was because there was a link to it from another article which would have simply led the user to a page of blank information. I am new to Wikipedia, so would be grateful for some advice about where I'm going wrong. Thank you. Sarah (Trustee)

Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (the dot org link appears to be broken but they are saving birds and giving advice for saving birds on their FB page. Also, be advised that there are some GREAT photos on the organization's FB page and they would look very nice if properly uploaded to the article.
Also-I suspect that this organization could be an educational foundation or operate under educational auspices. ) --24.0.133.234 (talk) 20:07, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - unfortunately, the dot org link appears to be broken because the server is down for some reason (we are currently investigating with the host) We do operate as an advisory service and carry out educational visits at local schools. --Nunnsofunky (talk) 20:12, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I copied this from the link posted above "The Wildlife Clinic

A dedicated facility consisting of triage, intensive care, small and large mammal units, specialist bird and waterfowl enclosures, hand-rearing and isolation areas, plus a unit for handling injured adult deer. The South is a heavily populated area that makes it a difficult environment for wildlife and yet it is poorly served for wildlife rescue. Each year the number of injured, orphaned or distressed animals and birds needing a place in our hospital, based at the home of Annette and David Risley increases. In 2004, we admitted over 2,500 wildlife casualties and the numbers continue to soar. Yet this is still only a fraction of the animals in need, but the walls of our centre just won’t expand any further.

The Education Centre

We have an active and expanding education programme supported by local schools and teachers, but we now need a classroom to host children and to embrace the tenets of the Real World Learning Campaign. This teaching resource will be available to schools, youth groups, clubs and societies. Providing information, advice, practical demonstrations and fun! Subjects will range from natural history to allotments and environmental issues, and provide a base for improving eco-literacy amongst our youngsters." -I hope you get-around to adding some images. What you have on FB is gorgeous. Looks like you guys are fine for Wikipedia as speedy deletion is specifically not allowed for educational deals? 24.0.133.234 (talk) 20:17, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Further info re images

[edit]

We will definitely upload some of our Facebook images to the main article. I took the vast majority of photographs myself so there is no copyright issue. Thanks for your support.  :) Nunnsofunky (talk) 20:18, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

yw Good luck with it and the birds and wildlife. I am waiting for ducks to return to this side of the "pond". I tried to add a citation to your article but you may want to check the info. since you were nominated for speedy deletion due to not having citations but I'm not real good at doing those!24.0.133.234 (talk) 20:30, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. Please discuss further on the talk page."

As a trustee and volunteer, I do have a close connection with the subject. However, I do believe that the information I have provided is purely factual and unbiased. I would be grateful if someone could advise, please? Nunnsofunky (talk) 09:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is OK to leave it there for now? The reason for that template is to prevent fly-by-night spammers from starting pages about advertising their businesses. In your case, it can attract editors that will see that you need more outside info. to help make the page more legitimate24.0.133.234 (talk) 15:02, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article is getting better!

[edit]

So sad about the badger! I am tempted to boldly delete stub status, but to do so at this point could hurt the article imo since there has been so much progress lately. As to the template that someone who is related to the topic has helped, that should probably be deleted too at this point and if someone else doesn't come-along I will try to remember to get rid of it next week or so?24.0.133.234 (talk) 15:00, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, looking at it currently the article is definately still a stub. Cabe6403 (TalkSign) 16:33, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Baby Raccoons and Rabbits-photos?

[edit]

Any chance that photos of baby raccoons or rabbits could be added here? Also, maybe a warning about how wild animals can become ill if they are taken out of the wild by humans and/or the fragility involved when trying to help wild animals?24.0.133.234 (talk) 15:25, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the Trust has beautiful images on it's fb page, but I personally would hesitate before giving copyright away (completely free)for images that belong to the Trust.A nonfree use would provide better protection in my opinion but I am not an expert on copyrights. Maybe an image of a sign would be a good photo for this article? If taken by an individual and donated to the article/Commons?24.0.133.234 (talk) 15:33, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

♥ the photos!

[edit]

The hedgehog is really cute! I'm wondering if it is time to get rid of the box on top of the page,(afd), and I commented here about it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Folly_Wildlife_Rescue_Trust#Folly_Wildlife_Rescue_Trust. Also-If I ever get-around to logging-in, I'm going to nominate baby hedgehog for "photo of the week";)TY for uploading the pics. They go great w/the topic.24.0.133.234 (talk) 22:06, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

cropped versions of photo

[edit]

Hi, I made cropped versions of one of your photos:

If you have a higher-resolution copy of it that you could upload, that would be better. —rybec 00:55, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
